Dr. Harold Knauss
Dr. Harold J. Knauss, 73, of Evansville, died Wednesday, July 23, 2001, at Highland Pointe Healthcare Center of cancer.
He retired after 15 years with Cinergy, had worked at H & R Block for 20 years and Bristol-Myers for 10 years.
He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and did his postgraduate work at the university's hospital.
He was an Army veteran, serving at the medical laboratory in Washington, D.C.
He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church, where he started the church bus ministry in the 1970s and served as assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 364 at the church.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Edna; two daughters, Karla Knauss of Evansville and Susan McCurdy of Newburgh; a son, John of Evansville; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Katelyn Garrison.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Alan Pollock officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 364 in care of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Dr. Charles Sage
Dr. Charles V. Sage, 84, of Evansville, formerly of Richmond, Ind., died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
He was a physician in Richmond for 47 years and had served as president of the Reid Hospital staff. He owned Egas Realty Corp.
He was a 1940 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, interned at Marion County General Hospital, was granted the Lilly Fellowship in gastroenterology and held a fellowship in internal medicine, both at Marion County General Hospital.
He served as a major in the Army during World War II and was chief of the gastro-enterology section at Thayer General Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., and Oliver General Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
He was president of Wayne-Union Medical Society, vice president of the Richmond Community SchoolBoard, medical director of the Wabash Life Insurance Co., past board member of the Indiana University Medical School Alumni Association and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jean (Johnson); a daughter, Sara Risinger of Evansville; a son, Charles 'Sonny' of North Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Central United Methodist Church in Richmond, Ind., the Rev. Larry Curtis officiating, with entombment in Earlham Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary in Richmond.
Fay Jones
Fay L. Jones, 82, of Evansville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at St. Mary's Riverside.
He retired after more than 30 years with Boeing Corp. and had received a commendation as a project leader in the Apollo Space Program.
He was a World War II veteran and member of New Life Tabernacle in Seattle.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Rebecca Randall of Renton, Wash.; two sisters, Allison Chittenden and Estelle Gott, both of Paducah, Ky.; and a brother, Carl H. Jones of Odon, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma, and his twin brother, Foy C.
Arrangements are pending in Renton, Wash. There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel.
Elizabeth Pauley
Elizabeth A. (Palmer) Pauley, 73, of Richmond, Ind., formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Golden Rule-Beverly Healthcare of respiratory failure.
She retired from the Evansville Courier and had worked for Bell Telephone for 20 years.
She was a 1946 graduate of Bosse High School.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna McCormick of Hagerstown, Ind., and Judy Samuel of Culpepper, Va.; a brother, Bill Palmer of Kuttawa, Ky.; two grandchildren, Sara Moore and Jennifer Samuel; and nieces and a nephew.
Memorial services are pending in Evansville. Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary in Richmond, Ind., is handling arrangements.
Barry Sunderman
Barry Lee 'Stinger' Sunderman, 50, of Evansville, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of injuries from a motorcycle accident on July 5, 2001.
He was a fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Ruby Mae; a stepson, Shawn Decker of Evansville; his parents, Guthrie and Norma Sunderman of Evansville; a sister, Linda Denton of Indianapolis; a brother, Kevin of Holland, Mich.; three grandchildren, Christopher, Damian and Skylar; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Shari and Alice Lee-Ann Sunderman.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, Glenn Bohlen officiating, burial in Locust Hill cemetery.

Dorothy Barry
Dorothy Mae (Phelps) Barry, 87, of Visalia, Calif., formerly of Evansville and Warrick County, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, in Visalia.
She had worked for Sunbeam Manufacturing in Evansville and as a nurse in the Los Angeles area for a family physician.
Surviving are a nephew who cared for her, Roy Pettet, and caregivers Gerald and Louise Gruebel and Mildred Hester. Her husband, J.P. 'Jack, - died in 1994.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Asbury cemetery in Warrick County, the Rev. Will Jewsbury officiating. Family and friends may meet at the cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday. There will be no visitation at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
Bettye Albin
TELL CITY - Bettye M. (Gordon) Albin, 72, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System of cancer.
She was a member of Troy Christian Church, a doll collector and genealogist.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Wayne; two daughters, Vicki Son of Grandview and Kim Albin of Ferdinand; a son, Jeff W. of Tell City; and a sister, Maxine Hubert of Tell City; three stepgranddaughters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Troy Christian Church, with burial in Bristow City cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home.

Bob Lukens
VINCENNES - Bob G. Lukens, 70, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis of sepsis.
He retired from Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake and had owned the Waffle House in Vincennes and for 21 years had worked for Wabash Food Service and E. Bierhaus & Sons.
He served with the Boy Scouts of America for 17 years, was in the National Guard for 14 years and coached Little League for 10 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne (Hans); three sons, Larry and Gary, both of Vincennes, and Dr. David of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be private, friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Goodwin Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Landon Lukens Scholarship Fund or the Boy Scouts of America.
Katherine Peachee
WASHINGTON - Katherine (Allison) Peachee, 93, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
She taught school for two years at Veale Township Elementary.
She was a graduate of Washington High School and Indiana Normal Teacher's College.
She was the oldest member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, had taught Sunday school and been the church organist and pianist for more than 50 years. She was a member of Ophelia Home Economics Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Wana Hasler of Newberry; a son, Don of rural Washington; a sister, Esther Rench of Richmond; a brother, J. Dean Allison of Washington; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Frank A., died in 1990.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with burial in Bethel cemetery in Stuckey.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gill Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church.
Mable Knepper
BOONVILLLE - Mable L. Carter Knepper, 89, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Baker's Rest Haven.
She attended the Salvation Army Church and was a volunteer bell ringer for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Clark of Chandler, Helen Robertson of Boonville and Marie Page of Evansville; and a son, James Carter of Boonville; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Harold, died in 1981, a daughter, Frances Carter, died in 1937 and a son, Roy, died in 1986.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
