Mildred Rue
OWENSVILLE - Mildred (Blythe) Rue, 88, formerly of Owensville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Woodlands Convalescent Center in Newburgh.
She was a registered nurse. She was a 1931 graduate of Owensville High School and a graduate of Indiana University.
She was a member of Townsend Bible Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Graham of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Elston and Jim Blythe both of Evansville; and a granddaughter, Kim Rue Ross.
Her husband, Albert K., died in May.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holder Funeral Home, with burial in Blythe cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ralph Cox
MOUNT VERNON - Ralph Cox, 81, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at his home.
He had worked for Keck Motor Co., Babcock & Wilcox Co., was elevator manager for ADM Milling Co., and Posey County assistant treasurer.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 27th Infantry. He received a Bronze Star for heroic action in Saipan and a Purple Heart for injuries received in Okinawa.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 113, American Legion Post 5 and the Mount Vernon Gun Club. He had been a Boy Scout leader.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Irma M. (Wade); a daughter, Susan Wade Cox of Henderson, Ky.; a son, Dave of King Salmon, Alaska; a sister, Stella Lamb of Vandallia, Ill.; two brothers, James A. of Grandbury, Texas, and Paul of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Steven and Paul Cox; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant General Baptist Church, with burial in Laurel Hill cemetery in Wadesville, with military rites.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the church. Tygart Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Aline Schuetz
WASHINGTON - Aline Philamina (Bolte) Schuetz, 90, died Friday, July 27, 2001, at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
She was a member and pianist of Daughters of Isabella and Knights of St. John Auxiliary, executive director of Daviess County Mental Health Association, chairwoman of the Friend-to-Friend Program, co-chaired the Human Resource Organization, served on the board of the Mental Health Association and was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church.
She had also been a Red Cross volunteer at Daviess Community Hospital.
Surviving are three daughters, Joy Tracy of Evansville, Mailee Rush of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Lynda Wellemeyer of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Andrew A. of Olney, Ill., and Arthur H. of Washington; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Peggy Coatney.
Her husband, Albert B., died in 1967.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Simon Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Gill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
George Odom
FORT BRANCH - George H. Odom, 88, died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Select Specialty Hospital-Evansville.
He worked for Emge Meat Packing Co. for 37 years and was a member of the AFL-CIO Meatcutters Union.
He attended Fort Branch General Baptist Church and was a member of the Onward and Upward Sunday school class and a member of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are three daughters, Mildred Dike of Mount Vernon, Nancy Fravel of Liberty, Mo., and Betty Shoemaker of Fort Branch; a son, Dennis of Fort Branch; two sisters, Flora Lee Gibsen of Sturgis, Ky., and Lillie Paxter of Mount Carmel, Ill.; two brothers, Herman of Galatin, Tenn., and Joseph of Sun City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. His wife, Gladys (Reed), died in 1995.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stodghill Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hill cemetery.

Donald Smith Jr.
CANNELTON - Donald A. Smith Jr., 21, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in an automobile accident in Warrick County.
He worked for Sabelhaus Construction Co., and had worked for his father at Don Smith Electrical.
Surviving are his daughter, Taylynn Smith of Cannelton; his parents, Lora Ann and Donald Smith Sr. of Tell City; a sister, Megan Smith of Evansville; his grandmothers, Helen Hess and Beulah Smith; and his fiancee, Ashley Ingle.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Joella Petry
HUNTINGBURG - Joella A. 'Jetty' (Mathies) Petry, 55, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg of heart and renal failure.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught for the Relief Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Spencer and Tracy Uppencamp, both of Huntingburg, and Kara Dotterweich of Gentryville; two sons, Mark of Holland and Mike of Huntingburg; a sister, Rose Mary Zink of Ferdinand; two brothers, David Mathies of Huntingburg and Donnie Mathies of Ferdinand; 10 grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Jasper, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.

Beatrice Walker
PRINCETON - Beatrice B. Walker, 89, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Gibson General Hospital.
She was a member of Holiness Tabernacle.
Surviving are a daughter, Loretta Virden Richards of Princeton; a son, James of Princeton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1969, and a daughter, Juanita Cargal.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Pauline Nowaskie
VINCENNES - Pauline M. (Carie) Nowaskie, 86, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at her home.
She had worked on the family farm and was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church, St. Vincent Ladies Club and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Judith A. 'Judy' Osborne of Vincennes; two sons, Robert L. and John T., both of Vincennes; two sisters, Blanche Durham of Vincennes and Helen Doll of Warren, Ohio; a brother, Tom Carie of Tuscola, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband, John, died in 1965.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Christa Messemann
Christa R. Messemann, 53, of Evansville, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at her home of liver complica-tions.
She worked at General Tire and Rubber for 10 years and also worked at Pearl Laundry.
She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Monic Messemann Latham of Evansville; a son, Torsten Erich Messemann of Evansville; a sister, Monika Berger of Germany; a brother, Peter Klebert of Germany; seven grandchildren, Damian, Nathan, Hannah and Erich Messemann, Erick and Andrea Latham and Kalyn Scott; and a companion, Ronald McCallister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Earl Rohleder officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Leroy McCoy
Leroy N. McCoy, 73, of Newburgh, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Woodlands Convalescent Center from complications of cancer.
He worked for Bucyrus-Erie Co. for 35 years and retired from plant operations at Welborn Baptist Hospital after 10 years.
He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.
He was a sergeant during World War II and worked in central intelligence during the Korean War.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Lee Mendel and Suzanne L. Bailey, both of Evansville; a brother, Russell McCoy of Spencer County, Ind.; four grandchildren, Eric and Sarah Mendel and Christopher and Andrew Bailey; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lloyd V. McCoy, last year.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Bill Peroni officiating, with entombment in Parklawn Mausoleum, with military rites.
