Flossie Pace
Flossie Irene (McDaniel) Trinkle Pace, 87, of Evansville, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Westpark Rehabilitation Center.
She was a seamstress for Shane Uniform for more than 15 years. She was Methodist.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Steve Smith and Sue Dye; nieces and a nephew; and a son-in-law who cared for her, William E. Smith.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer Trinkle, in 1950 and W.I. Pace, and two daughters, Joyce Smith and Betty Jean.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Chrisney, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Mary Christman
Mary P. Christman, 95, formerly of Fairbanks, Ind., sister of Homer V. Pittman of Evansville, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at the Sullivan (Ind.) Health and Living Center.
She was a member of the Old Union Chapel Church in Sulphur Springs, Ind., and former member of the Fairbanks Primitive Baptist Church.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews. Her husband, Charles, died in 1994.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dillman-Green Funeral Home in Marengo, Ind., with burial in Leavenworth Memorial Gardens.

Oscar Overfield
Oscar W. “Ozzie” Overfield, 66, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at his home of lung cancer. He retired from the
Raben Tire Co. and had worked as a truck driver and diesel mechanic.
He was a Korean War Marine veteran and life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114. He was a graduate of Weaverton High School in Henderson, Ky.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Margaret (Schmitt); five daughters, Sharon Walter of Ballwin, Mo., Judy Hughes of Grapevine, Texas, Kathy Williams of Manchester, Mo., Rebecca Hennessy Garrison of Evansville and Joanie Loehr of O’Fallon, Mo.; five sons, Ronald Walter of Pacific, Mo., Donald Walter of Manchester, Robert Walter of Wentzville, Mo., David Walter of O’Fallon and Randy Overfield of St. Louis; two sisters, Lois White of St. Louis and Iona McCormick of Henderson; 16 grandchildren, Donald Jr., Nicole, Scott, Katie, Laura, Brenda, Ronald Jr., and Belinda Walter, Trisha Becker, Jamie Hennessy, Shannon Schoenky, Patrick, Mandy and Scotty Hughes, Stephanie Loehr and Randy-Christine Overfield; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Alan C. Todd officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park, with military rites.

Evelyn Jones
VELPEN — Evelyn Mildred Jones, 84, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at her home. She had owned a grocery store.
She was a member of Spraggins Church in Pike County.
Surviving are a daughter, Loretta Ann Sollman of Velpen; two sons, Calvin Lee of Velpen and Lloyd Wayne of Petersburg; two sisters, Rosalea Evans and Rosetta Risley, both of Velpen; a brother, James Risley of Winslow; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Pearlie, died in 1989.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow, with burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Fredia Swihart
CANNELTON — Fredia G. Swihart, 86, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at her home.
She had worked at the former Indiana Cotton Mill and was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Tell City.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Lane of Tell City and Ollie Lane of Cannelton; a son, Ernest Layman of Cannelton; and 33 grandchildren including, Mary Harrison and Johanna McKinney, who cared for her; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Esco, and a daughter, Helen Devilliz, preceded her in death.
Services 11 a.m. EST Friday at Huber Funeral Home Cannelton Chapel, with burial in New Cliff cemetery.

Mary Hasty
MOUNT VERNON — Mary E. Hasty, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at New Harmony Health Care. She had worked at JC
Penney, was a member of the First Methodist Church and a member of the Raintree Quilters Guild.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Case of Mount Vernon; a sister, Ruby Chambers of Plainfield; two brothers, Donald Robins of Columbus and Harold Robins of Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren, Michael and Tina McCalment, Christine Johnson and Julie Pfister. Her husband, Walter, died in 1985.
Memorial services are pending, with burial in Asbury cemetery in Morristown. There will be no visitation at Norvell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Ray Bline
PETERSBURG — Ray Bline, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City of heart failure.
He was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Like); four daughters, Mary Jane Pearson of Paoli, Samantha Underhill of Bridgeport, Ill., Patty Ann Bline of Indianapolis and Sandy Bline of Newberry; two stepdaughters, Sharon Clapp and Cindy Miley, both of Vincennes; three sons, Douglas of Vincennes, Ray Edward of Cincinnati and Tom of Evansville; a stepson, Michael Miley of Vincennes; two sisters, Vicki Smith of Vincennes and Henrietta Wyant of California; a brother, Jerry of Bicknell; 21 grandchildren; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Friday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Walnut Hills cemetery.

Olivia Johnson
VINCENNES — Olivia N. Johnson, 80, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Good Samaritan Extended Care.
She was the co-founder of Trio Pet Shop and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Surviving are a son, Maurice Groh of Vincennes; three sisters, Rosemary Stevens, Louise O’Boil and Nancy Sevoy, all of New Orleans; a brother, George Wyman of New Orleans; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, William L., died in 1983.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Mount Calvary cemetery.

Rev. Henry Sturgeon
TELL CITY — The Rev. Henry H. Sturgeon, 65, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz., of complications of a stroke.
He was a self-employed truck driver and became a licensed minister in September.
He was a member of the House of Prayer Church.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Hazel (Throop); three daughters, Deborah Hale of Union and Penny James and Sherry Storm, both of Cannelton; three sons, Michael of St. Joe, Ark., Rusty of Tell City and Donald of Summer Shade, Ky.; his mother, Sarah Sturgeon Jeffers of Bristow; a sister, Othella House of English; five brothers, James of Ferdinand, Gerald of Schnellville, Robert of Newburgh and Harold and Lawrence, both of Bristow; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His son, Ricky Lee, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Friday at Huber Funeral Home, with burial in Beard cemetery in Bristow.

William Lashley
WASHINGTON — William G. Lashley, 68, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center of heart failure.
He retired as a farmer and had worked for John Deere Implements for 10 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Moose Lodge.
Surviving are two sisters, Doretha and Margaret Lashley, both of Washington; and a brother, John R. of Washington.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Friday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Virgil Katterhenry
Virgil L. Katterhenry, 87, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in Phoenix.
He retired as president of the Phoenix Federal Land Bank and was a member of the Central Methodist Church and Phoenix Rotary and Phoenix Country Club.
He was a graduate of DePauw University.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Carleton); a daughter, Sally Dutton of Tulsa, Okla.; a son, Louis of Phoenix; two sisters, Marie Katterhenry of Huntingburg and Grace Wessel of Evansville; and four grandchildren, Sally and John Dutton and Jeffrey and Jason Katterhenry.
Arrangements were handled in Phoenix by the A.L. Moore & Grimshaw Mortuary.
