Eldon L. Cage
Eldon L. Cage, 90 of Tipton died Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 1:54am in Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. He was born on July 9, 1912 in Liberty Township in Tipton County. His parents were Joel Madison Cage and Sabrah Ellen (Hoback) Cage. Eldon married Evelyn Hannah on December 15, 1944. Evelyn preceded him in death on June 8, 2000.
Eldon was well known throughout the community. He was a former reporter for the Indianapolis Star & Kokomo Tribune and Sports & News Editor for the Tipton Tribune. He was a former teacher in the Tipton Community School Corporation.
He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Tipton. He served 41 years on the board of Directors of First Federal Bank, 16 years as manager of the Tipton Pool. Eldon was mayor of Tipton from 1971-1975. He received the "Sagamore of the Wabash" from Governor Otis Bowen on November 3, 1980. As a member of the American Legion in Tipton he was a former Commander, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Eldon belonged to the Austin Masonic Lodge & Order of the Eastern Star in Tipton. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII.
Two children, Edward Neil Cage of Tipton and Ellen Marie Chalfin of Noblesville, survive him. He has 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Lynn Pottenger, Elizabeth Ann Proffitt, and Andrew Keith Richardson. He has one great granddaughter, Allison Kathleen Proffitt.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held on Monday December 16, at 10:00 am at Young-Nichols Funeral Home in Tipton. Rev. Jack Masters will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 15, from 2-8pm. The American Legion will conduct military services at the graveside.

Ruth M. Cline
Ruth M. Cline, 89, of Tipton died at 7:20 P.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital.
Ruth was born on November 22, 1913, in Hamilton County, Indiana. Her parents were Charles & Leota (Simmonds) Lane. On April 18, 1936 she married Robert Eugene Cline. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1981.
Ruth retired from Delco Radio in Kokomo. She graduated from Kempton High School in 1931. Memberships include the United Auto Workers and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Barbara Lynne Hancher of Lexington, Kentucky and Carol Jean Kirts of Greencastle, Indiana. She has one sister living, Martha Lane of Tipton. Ruth was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Bennett. She has 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services will be on Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Smith presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 2pm. Burial will follow at the Kempton Cemetery.
Joyce Ann Coffman
Joyce Ann Coffman, 52, 1325 S. Courtland Ave., Kokomo, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at her residence. She was born in Kokomo on October 6, 1950, to George R. Coffman and Barbara (Preston) Kimble.
Joyce was a nurse and worked at several area nursing homes and Howard Community Hospital before retiring in 1990. She attended Southview Assembly of God. She felt that her call in nursing was in geriatrics.
She is survived by 1 son, Kasey L. Coffman, Kokomo; 3 sisters - Linda Comerford, Kokomo; Georgiann Browning, Russiaville; Sue Silvers, Sharpsville; 1 brother - Jim Kimble, Jr., New Haven; and 1 granddaughter - Cali Lynn Coffman.
There will be no visitation. She will be buried at Rankin Cemetery
in Bunker Hill at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mildred M. Coy
Mildred M. Coy, 90, Mulberry Health & Retirement Village, and a former Tipton resident, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at 9:40 A.M. at her residence. She was born February 9, 1913 in Connersville, Indiana to William & Ethel (Bess) Boomershine. On January 15, 1931, she married Robert P. Coy and he died December 16, 1994.
She had worked as a cook and waitress at the Elks Club. She was a member of the West Street Christian Church in Tipton.
Mildred is survived by one daughter, Patricia J. Gregory, Frankfort; three grandchildren and their spouses, Sue & Brad Stockberger, Frankfort, Lynn & Al Whiteman, Frankfort, and Jeff & Judi Reecer, Frankfort; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. One son, Robert J. Coy, is deceased.
Her funeral will be Thursday, July 31, at 2:15 P.M. at the Fairview Cemetery, Tipton, with the Rev. Phil Curran presiding and burial to follow. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
Charlotte L. Davis
Charlotte L. Davis, 90, 205 Davis Road, Windfall, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 7:35 P.M. at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 16, 1912, in Windfall to Herbert & Sylvia (Todd) Wright. On January 26, 1932, she married Erwon Davis who passed away on January 20, 1996.
She retired from Tipton County Memorial Hospital as a nurse aide. She was a member of Windfall Church of the Brethren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play sports.
She is survived by one son - Junior Davis, Windfall; one sister - Betty Burton, New Port Richey, Florida; 5 grandchildren - Lee Miller, Lou Ann Levi, Lisa Bone, Trent Davis and Troy Davis; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Nancy Lou Miller, one son, Danny Lee Davis, and one sister, Maxine Bogue, are deceased.
Charlotte's funeral will be Monday, March 24, 2003, at 10:00 A.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Coffin. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Calling will be Sunday, March 23, from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Windfall Church of the Brethren.
Barbara J. Dehner
Barbara J. Dehner, 75, formerly of Tipton, died at 2:44 A.M. Thursday, February 27, 2003, at Manor Care Health Services in Kokomo. She was born August 22, 1927 in Bedford, Indiana, to Vernie L. & Pearl Alice (Johnson) Dehner.
Barbara was a registered nurse and had retired from Riley Children's Hospital. She was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church in Tipton and the Order of the Eastern Star. One sister, Carolyn Lee, is deceased.
She is survived by 5 nieces; Sandra Kincaid, Rensselaer, Indiana; Cathy Simms, Tipton; Tami Harmount, Bradenton, Florida; Jacci Youngblood, Sun City, Arizona; Beverly Breinholt, Phoenix, Arizona; 2 nephews; Truman and Tony Dehner, Morehead, Kentucky; and several great nieces and nephews.
Barbara's funeral will be Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 2:00 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Revs. John Hogsett and Keith Kincaid. Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery
in Monticello, Indiana. Calling will be Saturday from Noon - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

William A. Dell, Sr.
William A. Dell, Sr.,77, 18200 N. U.S. 31, Lot 114, Westfield, and a former Tipton resident, died at 7:00 Sunday evening, July 20, in his residence. He was born in Ekin, Indiana, on December 3, 1925, to Clifford F. & Margaret E. (Lee) Dell. On May 6, 1943, he married Ollie Louise McCormick and she died September 4, 1961. He later married Crystal Hammond and she died in 2002.
Bill was an ironworker. He attended Tipton Schools and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill was an Army veteran of WWII from 1942-43 and 1945-46. He worked for the City of Tipton and leveled the dirt to build the Tipton Little League Diamond.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, William Andrew Dell, Jr., Tipton, Richard Earl Dell, Pendleton, Lola Mae Telmos, Westfield, Thelma Marlene Manlove, Westfield, and Janet Dell Hammond, Roseville, Michigan.
Bill has five sisters and two brothers, Leatrice Machanic, Phoenix, Arizona, Triva Sunsdahl, Tipton, Billy Jo Cardwell, Tipton, Harry Dell, Tipton, Jerry Dell, Tipton, Linda Fukomori, Tipton, and Markieta Whittaker, Ohio. He also has 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Norma Reeves, Alice Sego and Neita Reeder, and two brothers, Richard Earl Dell and Roy Dell, are deceased.
His funeral will be Thursday, July 24, at 2:00 P.M. at the East Union Cemetery, 296th Street & U.S. 31 with burial to follow. The Tipton American Legion will conduct military services at the graveside. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M. at Young-Nichols Funeral Home.
Richard E. DeVault
Richard E. DeVault, 76, 113 Oak Street, Tipton, died at 5:07 A.M. Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was born January 21, 1926 in Tipton to Tempie D. & Goldie Pearl (Webb) DeVault.
He married Waneta Woodruff on September 5, 1944, and she survives. He was a truck driver and retired on July 1, 1983 from Renner's Express.
Richard was a member of West Street Christian Church in Tipton, Austin Masonic Lodge, F.O.P., American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II.
He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Ann & Jerry Bourff of Elwood; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack C. & Susie DeVault of Tipton; three grandchildren - Deena Bagley, Amy DeVault and Denise Bourff; one great-grandchild, Courtney Everman.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 11, 2003, at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Curran presiding. He will then be cremated and the cremains will be buried at Fairview Cemetery
in Tipton at a later date. Visitation will be Friday, January 10, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the West Street Christian Church or the donors favorite charity.
Mary Lou Downs
Mary Lou Downs, 74, Windfall, died at 1:38 P.M. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Autumnwood Extended Care at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was born May 14, 1929, in Windfall to Guy & Helen (Meyncke) Crouch. She married Dale Downs in 1949 and he died September 25, 1985.
She was a cook for the Windfall School, Sharpsville School and Tri-Central School. She was a member of the Windfall Methodist Church, Helping Hands Group at the Windfall Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose in Tipton, and Tipton County Shares.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary & Judy Downs, North Manchester, Indiana; one step-daughter, Ruth Ann Rice, Largo, Florida; two brothers, Guy Crouch, Jr. and Max Crouch, both of Tipton; and one grandson, Jeremy Conover. One step-son, Glendale Downs, 4 brothers, Ed, Clarence, Morris and Bobby Crouch, and two sisters, Patricia and Ruth Crouch, are deceased.
Her funeral will be Friday, July 18 at 2:00 P.M. at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Harden presiding. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Windfall. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Tipton County Shares or the American Cancer Society.
Parker Dunham
Parker Dunham, 99, 2530 S. 1100 W., Kempton, died at 6:55 P.M. Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Autumnwood at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 28, 1904, in Kempton to Wilber & Addie (Duncan) Dunham. On July 3, 1946 he married Dorothy E. Edwards and she survives.
Parker was a school teacher and had taught in Hobbs, Burlington, Russiaville, Cicero, and Taylor Township of Howard County, retiring after the 1969-70 school year. He was a member of the Austin Masonic Lodge, a graduate of Indiana University and a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at I.U. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of WWII.
Survivors besides his wife, Dorothy, include one son, William Dunham, Delta Junction, Alaska; three grandchildren, Tracy Dunham Bender, Sean Michael Dunham, and Lisa Dunham; 4 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be Saturday, September 27, at 2:00 P.M. at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Roe presiding. Burial will follow in Kempton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
John B. Findling
John B. Findling, 91, 4871 W. St. Rd. 28, Tipton, died Friday, October 17, 2003, at 10:00 A.M. at his residence. He was born August 7, 1912, in Tipton to Francis Clyde & Arlien (Boyer) Findling. On July 31, 1943, he married Esther Margaret Van Patten and she survives.
John was General Manager of Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Columbus, Ohio. He began his 40-year career in Anderson, Indiana and he worked in executive positions in Syracuse, New York, Elyria, Ohio, and Columbus, Ohio before retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Kemp United Methodist Church in Tipton. He was pleased to be recognized for outstanding conservation stewardship by the Tipton County Soil & Water Conservation District. He enjoyed overseeing his homeplace, "Independence Farm" including the planting of over 8000 trees on it.
John loved to play golf and scored 2 holes-in-one in his lifetime. He received his BS from Ball State Teachers College in 1933 and did his Graduate work at I.U., Bloomington.
Survivors besides his with Esther include one daughter, Judith Findling Stanger - Bridgeton, New Jersey; one son, John Boyer Findling, Jr. - Mableton, Georgia; one brother, James W. Findling - Indianapolis; two sisters, Joanna F. Brumfiel - Ann Arbor, Michigan and Harriet Shearer - Paxton, Illinois; three grandchildren, Regan Ruth Stanger, M.D. - New York City, Ross Adam Stanger - Bridgeton, New Jersey, and Mary Elen Findling - Athens, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Mary Findling Johnson and Margaret Macnamara, are deceased.
There will be no visitation or service. The family will conduct a private service at a later date.
