Philip Pickering

Philip Neal Pickering, 77, formerly of Evansville, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at his home in Tampa, Fla., of cancer.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

He was a 1941 graduate of Bosse High School and a graduate of the University of Miami.

Surviving are his wife, Violet; a daughter, Susan Milam of Lorida, Fla.; a son Keith of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be Friday at Christ of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Tampa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lifepath Hospice of Hillsboro County, Fla., or the American Parkinson Disease Foundation. The American Heritage Cremation Society in Tampa is handling arrangements.

Ralph Ehrmann

Ralph R. Ehrmann, 82, of Evansville, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Parkview Care Center.

He retired from Schroeder’s Wholesale.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 and a bowler.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Blankenship of Newburgh; two sons, Kenneth of Metamora, Ill., and Michael of Evansville; a sister, Delores Rickard of Evansville; a brother, Paul of Evansville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His wife, Armella, died in 1973.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, the Rev. Kenneth Knapp officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a memorial service at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice or to the Leukemia Society of America.

John Parke

John Robert Parke, 29, of Evansville, was found dead Friday, April 21, 2000, at his home. His death is under investigation by the Vanderburgh County coroner.

He worked at the Drury Inn.

He attended Bethel Temple and the Church of the Nazarene.

He attended Southridge High School in Huntingburg, Ind., and was a graduate of Castle High School. He also attended Olivet Nazarene College and Indiana University, majoring in economics.

Surviving are his mother, Joyce Parke of Evansville; his father and stepmother, Donald Ray and Annetta Parke of Newburgh; three brothers, Stephen of Boise, Idaho, Mark of Evansville and Phillip of Tigard, Ore.; and his grandparents, Dorothy Parke and Earl and Ethel Strickland.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mackey Church of the Nazarene in Mackey, Ind., the Rev. Bill Reed officiating, with burial in Townsley cemetery in Mackey.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Corn-Colvin Funeral Home in Oakland City, Ind., and from noon to service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Rowena McFarland

Rowena J. McFarland, 84, of Evansville, died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Pine Lake Manor.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Christine Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, and Thytira Hunt of Indianapolis.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Kayla Bennett

Kayla Sue Bennett, 37, of Evansville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at her home. Her death is under investigation by the Vanderburgh County coroner.

Surviving are a daughter, Marie Garcia of Levelland, Texas; a son, Davilla Garcia of Levelland; and her father and stepmother, Robert and Donna Schmidt of West Paducah, Ky.

The body will be cremated, with burial at a later date.

Pierre Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Phyllis Ruthenburg Hunt

Phyllis Ruthenburg Hunt, 39, of Evansville, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at her home of cancer.

She worked in retail and bred Yorkshire Terriers.

She attended Eagle Hill School in Massachusetts and was a graduate of Central High School.

Surviving are a daughter, Cara R. Hunt, at home; her parents, James N. and Phyllis B. Ruthenburg of Evansville; a sister, Clare S. Ruthenburg of Portland, Maine; four brothers, J.C. Pete, James T., Jeffrey and Jonathan B. Ruthenburg, all of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice.

Patricia Adams

Patricia M. Adams, 58, of Evansville, formerly of Olney, Ill., died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of cancer.

She retired from General Telephone after 32 years as a facility technician.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.

Surviving are her husband, Orlando N.; a son, Douglas of Evansville; her parents, Gilbert and Marie Kapper of Olney; three sisters, Carolyn “Kay” Keller of Bethany, Ill., Sharon Paddock of Carmel, Ind., and Mary Crites of Claremont, Ill.; two brothers, Don Kapper of Olney and Richard Kapper of Gainesville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Joshua, Blake and Zachary; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, the Rev. Jerry Wirth officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Olney.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hugo Weisman

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Hugo L. Weisman, 88, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Deaconess St. Joseph Hospital.

He was a retired farmer and a recipient of the Hoosier Homestead Award for more than 100 years of a family owned farm.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Mae (Rohleder); a daughter, Alice Louise Alexander of Livingston, Texas; two stepdaughters, Gerri Gonzales of Oakland City and Diana Owen of Huntingburg; two sons, James of Huntingburg and William of Santa Claus; five stepsons, Floyd Ray Leslie of Tennyson, Mike Leslie of Owensville, Vincent and Ken Lau, both of Huntingburg and Richard Lau of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Katherine (Sunderman), in 1957, his second wife, Norma (Kronemeyer), a stepdaughter, Brenda Wagner, and by a stepson, Mike Lau.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Nass and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mae Mathew

CYNTHIANA, Ind. — Mae L. (East) Mathew, 92, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Owensville Convalescent Center in Owensville.

She was the head cook for the Vanderburgh County School cafeteria for 20 years.

She was a member of the Cynthiana Eastern Star.

Surviving are two daughters, Juanita Marvel-Hayden of Poseyville and Betty J. Langebrake of Huntingburg; a son, Ray of Cynthiana; four sisters, Grace McPherson of Evansville, Evelyn Weiss and Bonnie Moore, both of Cynthiana, and Lois Croger of Henderson, Ky.; five brothers, Clifford, Elwood and John East Jr., all of Stewartsville, Robert East of Indianapolis and Paul East of Cynthiana; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Clifford, died in 1987.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Werry Funeral Home Poseyville Chapel, with burial in Bethsaida cemetery in Stewartsville.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with an Easter Star service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.

Robert Imle

VINCENNES, Ind. — Robert E. Imle, 88, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He worked at E. Bierhaus and Son.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 1, Scottish Rite and the American Legion. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two stepdaughters, Kay Cunningham of Lawrenceville, Ill., and Vickey Howard of New Orleans; four stepsons, Fred Ramsey of Owls Head, Maine, William Ramsey of Washington, Larry Ramsey of Dallas and Jeff Ramsey of Vincennes; a sister, Irma Newton of Indianapolis; and two brothers, Walter of Vincennes and Eddie of Chrisman, Ill.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park cemetery.

There will be no visitation at Goodwin Funeral Home.

Elbert Meier

DALE, Ind. — Elbert B. Meier, 88, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

He retired from Dale Furniture Factory.

Surviving are a daughter, Eula Mae Meier of Dale; and a son, Eldon of Boonville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home Dale Chapel, with burial in Buffaloville cemetery in Buffaloville.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
