Betty Friend
Betty Jo (Wilhite) Friend, 57, of Evansville, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Holiday Care Center of lung cancer. Sur-
viving are a daughter, Kim Hamilton of Evansville; two sons, Jim of McKinney, Texas, and Rodney of Evansville; a sister, Georgia Stallings of Evansville; three brothers, Jim, Willie and Charles Wilhite, all of Evansville; six grandchildren, Lacey, Brent, Tyler and Hunter Hamilton and Ryan and Dylan Friend; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, Vicki Hopkins officiating, with burial in Locust Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

James Maxwell
James Daniel “Jamie” Maxwell, 29, of Louisville, Ky., son of Louise Buckner and stepson of the Rev. James Buckner of Evansville, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, in Louisville. The cause of death is under investigation by the Jefferson County coroner.
He had formerly worked at Baptist Hospital in Louisville.
He was a member of Miles Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Paducah, Ky.
He was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and Kentucky Technology School.
Also surviving are his father and stepmother, James and Charlene Maxwell of Paducah; six sisters, Clarissa Maxwell and Carlene, Ja’Nita and Renee Buckner, all of Evansville, Danielle Maxwell of Paducah and La’Shanna Mounday of Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers, James Kenneth Maxwell Jr. and William Jones, both of Paducah, and Demarcus Garland of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hathaway & Clark Funeral Home in Louisville, with burial in Green Meadows cemetery in Louisville.
Irene Egloff
FERDINAND — Irene M. Egloff, 77, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Deaconess St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She retired from Ferdinand Furniture and was a member of the Ferdinand Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Schneider and Kathy Futrell, both of Schnellville; two sons, Jerry Sr. of Ferdinand and William of Santa Claus; two sisters, Anna Lee Voges of Ferdinand and Elenor Harpenau of Chrisney; five brothers, Urban Bender of Bluffton, Larry Bender of Ferdinand, Joe Bender of Indianapolis, Werner Bender Jr. of Jasper, John Bender of St. Meinrad and David Bender of St. Anthony; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert J., in 1984, and by an infant son, Maurice.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service, at Becher Funeral Home.
Justina Davis
HUNTINGBURG — Justina W. Davis, 91, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of Huntingburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Davis of Huntingburg.
Her husband, Norman, died in 1990.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Nass and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Ameal Aders
BRISTOW — Ameal William Aders, 79, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
He worked for Foster Brothers and was a coal miner.
He enjoyed ginseng and mushroom hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mildred; two daughters, Karen Elverd of St. Meinrad and Janet Sturgeon of St. Joe, Ark.; two sons, Gary and Curt, both of Bristow; three sisters, Leona VanHoosier, Irene Friedel and Ruth Graves, all of Bristow; a brother, Raymond of Bristow; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Irvin.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bristow United Pentecostal Church, with burial in Bristow City cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
Hattie Moss
Hattie Redding Moss, 83, of Evansville formerly of Hopkinsville, Ky., died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
Surviving are a daughter, Ethel Lee of Gary, Ind.; three sons, Elmer of Jacksonville, Fla., Emory and Daniel, both of Evansville; her caregiver, Patricia Redding of Evansville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a wake service from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Anna McNeely
Anna N. McNeely, 92, of Evansville, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Evansville Protestant Home. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at Terrace Parke General Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Epworth Extension Homemakers Club.
She had enjoyed fishing and hiking with her late husband, Earl, who died in 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy McNeely of Evansville and Lois Skipworth of Wildwood, Fla.; two sons, David of Evansville and John of Las Vegas; a sister, Florence Jones of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Gaylon Price officiating, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery in Boonville, Ind.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James Johnston
James E. “Jim” Johnston, 52, of Pineville, La., formerly of Evansville, died Friday, April 14, 2000, in St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La., after open heart surgery.
He was a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran and recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was a 1966 graduate of North High School in Evansville.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and was on the building committee.
Surviving are his wife, Rita of Alexandria; two stepdaughters, Erica Quirk of Pineville and Regina Davis Potee of Indianapolis; three sons, James “Jay” of Douglasville, Ga., Jason of Evansville and Jeremiah of New York City; a sister, Suzie Guzman of Phoenix; a brother, Robert Eugene of Phoenix; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Michael, Brandon, Jacob and Jordan.

Ronny Adams
Ronny Dean Adams, 46, of Carterville, Ill., formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill. of respiratory failure.
He had been a minister for 20 years in Vandalia and Dix, Ill., and the Dallas area.
He was a graduate of Carbondale Community High School, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and Southern Methodist University School of Theology.
He enjoyed gospel music and sang bass in the Adams Family Gospel Music Group.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; a daughter, Jennifer Adams of Grand Prairie, Texas; a son, Donald Paul of Carterville; his parents, the Rev. Dean and Jean (Crowley) Adams of Goreville, Ill.; a sister, Connie McNichols of Goreville; and two brothers, Bobby of Nashville, Tenn., and Larry of Creal Springs, Ill.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Meredith-Blue Funeral Home in Marion, Ill., with burial in McKinney Chapel cemetery in Lake of Egypt, Ill.
Byron Broome
Byron Broome, 60, of Lawrenceville, Ga., son of Lloyd Walter and Dorothy Diana Broome of Evansville, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at North Fulton Hospital near Atlanta of cardiac arrest.
He was an underwriting manager for Central Mutual Insurance Cos. for 37 years.
He was a quarterback for Indiana University from 1961 to 1963.
Surviving are his wife, Jan; two daughters, Marjorie Fry of Johnson City, Tenn., and Jennifer Dray of Marietta, Ga.; three sons, Mike Broome of Aiken, S.C., John Dray of Brodheadsville, Pa., and Steve Dray of Mableton, Ga.; a sister, Linda S. O’Connor of Evansville; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wages Snellville Chapel in Snellville, Ga. His body will be cremated.

Larry Cummings
Larry W. Cummings, 59, of Ooltewah, Tenn., formerly of Evansville, died Monday, April 17, 2000, from a blood clot.
He was a Navy veteran.
He attended Tennessee Temple University.
He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and was a volunteer with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Diabetes Association.
Surviving are three stepsons, Scott of Chickamauga, Tenn., and Jeff and Daniel, both of Chattanooga, Tenn.; his stepmother, Pearl Cummings of Evansville; two sisters, Jo Ellen Wilson and Penny Sue Kibby, both of Evansville; a brother, Doug of Evansville; and five grandchildren.
A son, Anthony Bryan, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the National cemetery in Chattanooga, the Rev. Louis Hamm officiating.
