Stanley Sater
Stanley A. Sater, 71, of Evansville, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of liver cancer.
He formerly owned and operated Sater’s Clothing Store until 1980 and then started Sater Insurance Agency, where he attained membership in the national Lifetime Million Dollar Round Table.
He was a 60-year member of Temple Adath B’nai Israel and served as vice president of the local B’nai Brith, where he was honored for establishing the Stanley Sater Endowment Fund. He was also a member of the Evansville Downtown Lions Club.
He attended Indiana University.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl “Cookie”; two daughters, Karen Colbert of Hillborough, Calif., and Lauri Hannan of Batavia, Ill.; a brother, Ronald of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Ryanne and Brandon Colbert and Jenny Hannan.
Graveside services were held in Mount Carmel cemetery, Rabbi David Feder officiating.
Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel handled arrangements.

Gretna Altheide
Gretna M. “Woody” Altheide, 85, of Evansville, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Woodlands Convalescent Center.
She formerly worked as a supervisor for Servel Inc., at Temple’s Market and later for Woolsey’s Bicycle and Toy Center.
She was a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church and baptized in the Methodist church.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Eagles.
Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law who cared for her, Atha and Elmo Connell of Evansville; two nieces and their husbands who cared for her, Karen and John Peninger of Newburgh and Kim and Dennis Don of Evansville; and four great-nieces and nephews who cared for her, Matt and Megan Peninger and Derek and Courtney Don.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emil Sturm, in 1961, and by her second husband, George Altheide, in 1984.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Thomas Bartley officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Doyle McIntosh
Doyle K. McIntosh, 55, father of Lisa Rush of Newburgh, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home in Orleans, Ind., of a heart attack.
He worked for Lewis Bakery for 20 years and as a MAC Tools distributor.
He was a musician and a private pilot. He was a member of the Orleans Flying Club and the Orleans Board of Aviation Commissioners.
Also surviving are his wife, Linda; a daughter, Rhonda Vaal of St. Meinrad, Ind.; a son, Sgt. Jason McIntosh of Shepherds Air Force Base, Witchita Falls, Texas; his stepmother, Margaret McIntosh of Vandalia, Ill.; a brother, Jack of Cincinnati; a grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Joseph Church in Dale, Ind., with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m., at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, Ind.
Rex Weathers
Rex Gregory Weathers, 47, of Safety Harbor, Fla., formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Biloxi, Miss., of cardio-pulmonary failure.
He owned Weather’s Outdoor Advertising.
Surviving are his wife, Pat; his mother, Bonnie M. Weathers of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters, Terry Boese of Indianapolis and Patty Schoolfield of Evansville; and a brother, Brad of Palm Harbor.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Fla.

Ruth Belcher
PRINCETON, Ind. — Ruth Ann Belcher, 66, formerly of Princeton, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at her home in Frederick, Md., under hospice care.
She retired from real estate and insurance.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Princeton.
Surviving are two daughters, Frances L. Logue of Orlando, Fla., and Lynne M. Dike of Indianapolis; two sons, David R. of Frederick, Md., and Mark W. of Dallas; a foster son, Aaron Weaver of Cranberry, Pa.; her father, Charles Otha Beadels of Evansville; a sister, Marilyn Schutz of Evansville; and 11 grandchildren.
Her husband, Chester, died in 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery in Francisco.

Infant Victoria McDuffie
Victoria Frances McDuffie, nine-week-old daughter of Lory and Clay McDuffie of Evansville, died Sunday, April 23,
2000, at Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis from renal failure.
Also surviving are three sisters, Rebecca Anderson and Hannah McDuffie, both of Evansville, and Ashley McDuffie of Milton, Fla.; grandparents, Ron and Francie Cooper and David and Frances McDuffie; and great-grandparents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Glen Flowers officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Alice Barker
Alice M. (Long) Barker, 88, of Indianapolis, sister of Becky Justice of Evansville, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, in Indianapolis.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Oaklandon Homemakers Club and the Oaklandon Christian Church.
Also surviving are a daughter, Connie Stafford; a sister, Doris Stepp of Owensboro, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Alicia Stafford and Jeff Long of Indianapolis.
Her husband, Samuel, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harry W. Moore Lawrence Chapel in Indianapolis, with burial in Oaklawn Memorial Garden.

Mattie Conner
Mattie E. Conner, 84, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Hobart, Ind.
She was a member of Calvary Temple.
Surviving are three daughters, Gladys Huggins of Mount Carmel, Ill., Marcella Jeffers of Hobart and Virgie Shofner of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a son, Robert Baker of Evansville; two sisters, Lucille French of Henderson, Ky., and Josie Mason of St. Louis; a brother, Buck Jones of Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 55 years, George Arthur Conner, died in 1999.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Clifton officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial cemetery.

Veronica Otto
OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — Veronica M. Otto, 83, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at her home.
She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society and founding member of the Gibson County Area Rehabilitation Center.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Sister Ida Otto of Ferdinand; four sons, Daniel F. of Oakland City, David P. of Cold Springs, Minn., John J. of Elberfeld and the Rev. Raymond Otto of Marvin, S.D.; two sisters, Marie Louise Reinhart of Princeton and Rose Schemel of Evansville; three brothers, Edward, Frederick and Victor Fuhs, all of Fort Branch; and five grandchildren. A son, Theodore A., died in 1954.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. Stodghill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Jerome Begle
FERDINAND, Ind. — Jerome L. Begle, 69, died Sunday, April, 23, 2000, at Deaconess St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg of cancer.
He was a member of St. Henry Community Club, Woodman of the World and the Huntingburg Conservation Club.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice (Braunecker); two daughters, Beverly Neukam of Holland, Ind., and Becky Brittain of Ferdinand; a sister, Bernice Fischer of Ferdinand; seven grandchildren; a step grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
His son, Keith Begle, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
