Riley Harrod Jr.
Riley G. Harrod Jr., 55, of Newburgh, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He worked for Southern Indiana Gas & Electric Co., as director of purchasing.
He was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 12 years, Renata (Baird); four daughters, Judy Maxwell and Tracy Vaughn, both of Louisville, Ky., Cheryl Young of Newburgh and Karrie Young of Evansville; a son, Ken of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Linda Eskridge of Louisville; five granddaughters, Sara Maxwell, Cassie and Morgan Vaughn and Myah and Mackenzie Young; and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel, the Rev. David Lee officiating, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Orma Grimm
Orma L. Grimm, 56, of Newburgh, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She was active in the family business, Bert Grimm Custom Homes, and worked at Fine and Hatfield.
She was a 37-year member of Crossroads Christian Church, a 20-year member of Tri-Kappa, where she was the first recipient of the Most Outstanding Respected Member award, a 27-year member of the Women’s Club of Newburgh and a five-year member of the Diner’s Club.
Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Herbert; a daughter, Kelle Grimm of Newburgh; four sisters, Dorris Allison and Cleo Radcliffe, both of Washington, Ind., Joyce DeMotte of Petersburg, Ind., and Roberta Brower of Brooksville, Fla.; three brothers, Iva “Bud, ” Nolan and Billy Ray Goodwin, all of Washington; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Craig, in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Steve Wyatt officiating, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

David Turpen Jr.
David W. Turpen Jr., 20, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of neisseria meningitis.
He worked at the Radisson Hotel as a security guard and sold security systems for ADT Security Systems.
He was a 1999 graduate of Reitz High School.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Raymond Becker Jr. of Charleston, W.Va.; his father and stepmother, David and Cindy Turpen of Wadesville, Ind.; a sister, Megan Becker of Charleston; two brothers, Nicholas and Adam, both of Wadesville; his grandparents, Catharyne Moye, Marilyn Jewell and Charles E. Turpen Jr.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, continuing at 9 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, the Rev. Gregory Chamberlin officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Mary Johnson
MONROE CITY — Mary W. Johnson, 79, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes.
She had worked in sales for Hoosier Supplies, Hills and Jewel Craft.
She was a member of Monroe City Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, William; and a son, Donnis of Vincennes.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes, with entombment in Tower Mausoleum.

Barbara Wininger
MONTGOMERY — Barbara Geraldine Wininger, 46, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The cause of death has not yet been determined by the Vanderburgh County Coroner.
She worked as an admitting clerk at Daviess Community Hospital and as a receptionist for Dr. McCormick in Washington.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Odon and a graduate of Barr-Reeve High School.
Surviving are her husband, Billy Frank; two daughters, Billie Chandler of Mitchell and Dustye McCallon of Cincinnati; her mother, Thelma Williams of Vincennes; seven sisters, Hazel Newberry of Monroe City, Neoma Merydith, Donna Williams and Debbie Barber, all of Vincennes, Audrey Brown of Roanoke, Texas, Patti Welte of Chandler and Cathy Carie of Washington; three brothers, Glen Williams of Hardy, Ark., Bill Williams of Newport and Gene Williams of Cayuga; and three grandchildren, Callie, Marcus and Tyler Chandler.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Funeral Home in Washington, with burial in Bethany cemetery.

Jarold Hunt
BOONVILLE — Jarold M. Hunt, 80, died Friday, May 5, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
He was a bricklayer for 50 years with Local 142 Aluminum Brick & Glass Workers International.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 3418 in Boonville.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law who cared for him, Jary and Betty Hunt of Evansville; a twin brother, Gerald of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews, including a niece who cared for him, Geraldene Nord.
His wife, Edith L., died in 1996.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, the Rev. William L. Carlisle officiating, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery, with military rites.

Ruby Jones
ROCKPORT — Ruby M. Jones, 89, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Miller’s Health System.
She was a member of Rockport Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are three daughters, Deloreus J. Wangler of Rockport, Norma L. Goodwin of Chrisney and Wanda L. Stepro of Pontiac, Mich.; three sons, Glenn M. and Shirley E., both of Rockport, and Roland T. of Centertown, Ky.; a sister, Ethel Fortune of Hatfield; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, in 1987, and by two sons, Jerry Dale, in 1938, and Fred N., in 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home, with burial in New Hope cemetery in Grandview.

Onas Matz
GRIFFIN — Onas Paul Matz, 83, formerly of Griffin, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home in Seattle.
He was a retired general contractor and had taught school in Griffin before going into the service.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and retired as a colonel from the Air Force Reserves.
He was a 1935 graduate of Griffin High School and a graduate of Indiana State Normal School.
Surviving are a daughter, Deeanne of Seattle; a son, Thomas Paul of Seattle; two sisters, Reba Detar of Moore Haven, Fla., and Nona Freeman of Griffin; three brothers, Lloyd of Sherwood, Ore., Norbert of Sacramento, Calif., and Don of Summerfield, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.
There will be no local services.
Infant David Vanderhoof
CYNTHIANA — David Peter Vanderhoof, infant son of Sarah and Peter Vanderhoof, was stillborn Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus in Evansville.
Also surviving are a brother, Nathan, at home; and grandparents.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Bessie Bowen
Bessie Mae Bowen, 90, of Newburgh, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Cypress Grove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was a Christian.
Surviving are five daughters, Beverly Ward of Boonville, Ind., Catherine Jones of Newburgh, Pauline Strigel of Evansville, Myrtle Gardner of Richland, Ind., and Donna Winsett of Chrisney, Ind.; five sons, Ray of Newburgh, Clarence of Evansville, Harold Lee of Chandler, Ind., Larry of Boonville, and Terry of Hatfield, Ind.; two sisters, Pearl Schauss and Annamae Seaton, both of Evansville; a brother, Ab Wilhite of Owensboro, Ky.; 35 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Ervin, in 1969; and by two sons, Floyd, in 1933, and Robert, in 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel, the Rev. Mark Purl officiating, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.

Helen Emerson
Helen J. Emerson, 93, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Home.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Evansville Garden Club, PEO and the American Association of University Women.
She was a graduate of Reitz High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and her master’s degree from Purdue University.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean Berhardt of Evansville and Patricia Crosby of Dallas; four grandchildren, Sara Umbach, Susan Kemper and Joyce and Bruce Crosby; and a great-granddaughter.
Her husband, Ralph W., died in 1961.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel, the Revs. Joseph W. Fraccaro, Mary Hendrickson and Wendy McCormick officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
