Mary Lou Grimes
FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Mary Lou Grimes, 81, Fairbanks, Alaska, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009.
She was born Aug. 14, 1927.
On July 27, 1946, she married Marion Ed Grimes.
She is survived by her children, Karen Inman, Pamela K. Ranney, Beverly Sue Stubbs, Larry E. Grimes, Alice L. Book, Robert A. Grimes, Mary E. Rice and Michael L. Grimes; her sister; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will take place at a later date.
Vance Allen Noble
CARMEL – Vance Allen Noble, 47, of Carmel, and formerly of Elwood, passed away Sept. 13, 2009.
He was born Dec. 22, 1961 in Elwood, to Gale and Mary Ann (Buchheit) Noble.
Vance was a graduate of Elwood Community High School and ITT.
He was adventurous and enjoyed traveling.
Employers included Texas Instruments, Ball State University, EDS, Avanade Consulting Ser-vices and most recently Microsoft Consulting Services.
Survivors include his wife, Roslyn Gray Noble of Carmel; his mother, Ann Noble of Elwood; a sister, Micky Majors and husband, Ron of Elwood; a brother, Duke Noble and wife, Paula of Elwood; nieces and nephews, Jamie Rybecki and husband, Jacob, Nicholas Majors and wife, Heather, Jason Noble and friend, Mendy Hunsberger, all of Elwood; Megan Majors of Kokomo and Jon Ross Noble of Fort Wayne; great-niece, Leigha Phillips and great-nephew, Jason Jasper (J.J.) Noble, both of Elwood; stepdaughter, Heather Bacher and husband, Bruce of Greenwood and stepson, Glenn Chunn of Gustavus, Ark.; and beloved canine sons, Archie and Boo Radley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gale Noble and a sister, Dina Noble.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 in the Leppert Mortuary, Smith Carmel Chapel. Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery.
Friends can call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
Merlin A. Murphy
Merlin A. “Merl” Murphy, 85, of Elwood, died Wednesday at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.

Mary Elizabeth Shirley
CICERO – Mary Elizabeth Shirley, 81, Cicero, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009.
Born May 7, 1928, she was the daughter of Archibald Joseph and Dottye Mae (Borders) McElroy at Washington, D.C.
She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy and attended Immaculata College.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cicero, Kokomo Country Club and Kokomo Elks Club.
She married Richard Clarence Shirley, owner of Shirley Home Furnishings at Kokomo. He survives.
Also surviving is a son, Richard Bradley Shirley of Elizabeth, Colo.; daughters, Nancy Leah Shirley of Cicero, Robbyn Elizabeth Burton of Orlando, Fla. and Mary Angela Spangler of Noblesville; a sister, Nancy Ashland of Annapolis, Md.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 390 South Pearl St. in Cicero.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. until time of services. The Rev. Michael Kettron will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Cicero Cemetery. Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel is handling the arrangements.

Linda Jane Roudebush
ARCADIA – Linda Jane Roudebush, 71, Arcadia, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 at her home.
Born Sept. 29, 1937, she was the daughter of Charles Fred and Sarah Marzella (Winders) Clifford.
She was a graduate of Jackson Central High School Class of 1955.
She was a homemaker.
She married Jack K. Roudebush on March 4, 1961. He survives her.
Also surviving is a son, Bradley Roudebush of Milwaukee, Wis., and a daughter, Wendy Denham of Noblesville; two grandchildren; and sisters Janice Fisher and Rebecca Lockwood, both of Arcadia and Sue Green of Cicero.
A brother, William Clifford, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of services.

Sr. Rosemary Zauss, CSJ
Sister Rosemary Zauss, CSJ died at 3 a.m. today, Nov. 19, 2010 at St. Joseph Center in Tipton where she has been a resident of Camilla Hall for several years. She was ready and eager to be with her loving God, to whom she totally dedicated her life and ministry as a Sister of St. Joseph.
Mary Margaret Zauss was born in Sharpsville on Sept. 12, 1912, the daughter of Lawrence Zauss and Stella Wilburn Zauss.
Her living siblings include Vincent (Mae) Zauss of Western Springs, IL and Betty (John) Walsh of Madison Heights, Mich.
Surviving also are several nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews and special friend, Kenn Heydrick.
Brothers and their spouses who have preceded her in death include Meredith, Kenneth, James, Joseph (Eileen Walsh), Eugene and Bernard (Mary Walsh) Zauss.
Mary Margaret was baptized and educated at St. John’s Parish and School in Tipton and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Tipton on Aug. 15, 1926. At the time of receiving the habit, Dec. 31, 1928 she was given the name of Sister Rosemary. Her first vows were made on Dec. 31, 1930 with final profession of vows on July 2, 1935.
Sr. Rosemary earned a teacher’s license from St. Mary’s College in South Bend; a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Marian College in Indianapolis and a Master of Music Degree from Notre Dame University in South Bend.
In addition to teaching assignments in Winamac and Wabash, she was organist and music teacher at St. Matthew’s Parish and School in South Bend from 1940-46; taught at St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph Junior College in Tipton from 1947-68 and at St. Patrick’s Parish and School in Kokomo from 1969-90 where she also served as a Parish Visitor and Minister of the Eucharist.
In 1991 Sr. Rosemary returned to St. Joseph Center in Tipton where she served as organist, musician and liturgist until the past few years when her health began to decline. Musician and artist, she had tremendous love and concern for others. Studying, reading and keeping up with global events also fed her spirit and inspired her constant prayer.
Sister Rosemary is loved and remembered by many students and most especially by her Choramarians, award winning choral group, from St. Joseph Academy. The recitals, plays, programs and liturgies that she planned, prepared and presented are a great part of her legacy to the Sisters of St. Joseph, her devoted family, students, friends and the Church of the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana.
God has answered her prayer and called Sr. Rosemary home after a long and dedicated life. May she now rest in the eternal peace and love of Christ and join in singing the praises of our loving God with all the angels and saints forever and ever.
Visitation is scheduled at St. Joseph Center Chapel in Tipton for Sunday, Nov. 21, beginning at 4 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday morning preceding the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at which Father Patrick Keith Hosey will preside. Sister Rosemary will be buried in the cemetery at St. Joseph Center following the Mass of Christian Burial.

Ora “Gene” Hittle, 89, of Elwood, died today at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson.

Nina J. Garst, Elwood, died Thursday at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Nancy Ellen Oldham
NOBLESVILLE – Nancy Ellen Oldham, 72, Noblesville, died Nov. 18, 2010 at Clarian North Hospital near Carmel.
She was born March 18, 1938 in Noblesville to Marcus Allen and Hazel Maxine (Cook) Taylor.
On Aug. 29, 1969, she married Leon Edward Oldham. He survives.
She was a graduate of Noblesville High School Class of 1956.
She had been employed by the Hamilton County Drainage Board.
She was a member of Bethel AME Church, the Republican National Committee and the Hamilton County Republican Women's Club.
Along with her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Kathy Murphy of Noblesville; one granddaughter; a sister, Connie Backman of Noblesville; a great-aunt; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents was a brother, Harry "Bud" Taylor.
Funeral services will take place at noon Monday at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of services. The Revs. Mallory Terrance and Shad Hill will officiate.
Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery
at Noblesville.
