Gertrude Buttrum
OAK-LAND CITY — Gertrude L. Buttrum, 58, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville of cancer.
She worked for Potter & Brumfield in Princeton for 19 years. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1147 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Robert; a daughter, Jane Richardson of Mount Carmel, Ill.; three sons, Bobby, Roger and Jeff, all of Oakland City; two sisters, Fanny Reynolds of Delphos, Ohio, and Pauline Prichett of Cridersville, Ohio; two brothers, George Wagner of Owensville and Henry Wagner of St. Marys, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Montgomery cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel.
Danny Holmes
CHRISNEY — Danny Monroe Holmes, 8, of Utica, Ky., died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Kosair Children’s Hospital of bacterial meningitis.
He was in the third grade at Utica Elementary School and attended Greenbriar Baptist Church.
Surviving are his parents, David and Kris (Purviance) Holmes of Utica; grandparents, David and Juetta “Judy” Holmes and Bob and Sandi Purviance; and great-grandparents.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenbriar Baptist Church in Utica, with burial in the church cemetery.
Memorial services will be at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the Bloomfield Methodist Church in Chrisney.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, Ky.
Ryan Weiss
HAUB-STADT — Ryan E. Weiss, 21, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. The Vanderburgh
County coroner is investigating his death.
Surviving are a son, Dakota of Haubstadt; his parents, Rick and Sandra Weiss of Haubstadt; two sisters, Heather Weiss of Haubstadt and Stephanie Knight of Fort Branch; a brother, Kevin of Fort Branch; grandparents, Leo and Betty Weiss and Jim and Ruth Rogers; and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch, with burial in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dakota Weiss Trust Fund in care of the Elberfeld State Bank in Haubstadt.
Carma Hight
Carma Nell Hight, 77, of Newburgh, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation. She had cancer.
She retired from the housekeeping department of Welborn Hospital in 1996.
She was a member of Washington Avenue Southern Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Terry L. of Evansville; a sister, Janetta Snodgrass of Boonville, Ind.; a brother, J.L. Miller of Sewanee, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Lonnie, died in 1977.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Michael Thompson officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Susan Lenfers
Susan H. (Griese) Lenfers, 58, of Evansville, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She was an inter-session coordinator at Lincoln Elementary School, had worked for Dr. Stephen Sampson and tutored for Little Extra Help Tutoring Service.
She served on the board of directors at Scott Lenfers Construction, Inc.
She was a graduate of Reitz High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynnette Kokomoor of LaGrange, Ky.; a son, Scott of Evansville; and a granddaughter, Brittany Kokomoor.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Dave Mills officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Elementary School Fund for general supplies for children or Vista Care Hospice.
Infant Lydia Schulz
Lydia Colleen Schulz, daughter of Michael and Colleen Schulz of Evansville, was stillborn Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Also surviving are two sisters, Katherine and Jessica Schulz, both at home; two brothers, Ryan and Mitchell, both at home; her grandparents, Sharon and Robert Schulz and Larry and Nancy Hayden; and great-grandparents.
Services will be private. There will be no visitation at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel.
Dorothy Russell
Dorothy “Dot” (Cole) Russell, 74, sister of Martha Sanford of Evansville, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., of complications of an aneurism.
She was a lifelong member of the Edgefield Baptist Church and past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Tennesse and secretary/treasurer of Past President’s Association.
Also surviving are her husband, C. Gene; two sons, Gary of Sarasota, Fla., and Rick of Nolensville, Tenn.; two brothers, Harold and Bob Cole, both of Nashville; eight grandchildren, Todd, Tracy, Troy, Keith, Ashleigh, Cole, Andrew and Rebecca Russell; and great-grandchildren.
Services 10 a.m. Tuesday at Edgefield Baptist Church in Nashville, the Revs. James Powers and Charles Worrell officiating, burial in Spring Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Pauline Gudgel
Pauline Gudgel, 91, of Evansville, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at Westpark Rehabilitation Center.
She retired as a licensed practical nurse from St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Ill., and had also worked at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. During World War II, she worked at Republic Aviation.
She was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Surviving are a stepdaughter, Ava Hundley of Olney, Ill.; a son, Theo Goans of Evansville; a sister, Zelma Pixley of Homer, La.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 35 years, Clarence A., died in 1981 and a daughter, Laddie Myers, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Doyle Eddings officiating, with graveside services at noon Tuesday at Sumner cemetery in Sumner, Ill.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jennie Herron
Jennie L. (Randolph) Herron, 90, of Evansville, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital. She was Methodist.
She worked several years for the Evansville School Corp. in its summer recreation program and had worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in pediatrics. During World War II, she was a long-distance telephone operator.
She was one of the first women to play softball on a team in this area and played for ACOA Candy Co., Servel Inc. and Crescent Cleaners. She traveled across the United States with her bowling teams and won numerous trophies.
Surviving are nieces and nephews including, Casey Randolph and Nora Hurt, who cared for her and sisters-in-law who cared for her, Evelyn Randolph and Alice Luden.
Her husband, Elmer, died in 1965.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. Alan Shelby officiating, with graveside services at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Hill cemetery in Patoka, Ind.
Friends may call from 2p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Ruth Cords
Ruth Cords, 96, of Evansville, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at Holiday Health Care.
She had been a school teacher in Pulaski County and Royal Center, Ind. After retiring she moved the Arizona in 1970 and to Evansville in 1997.
She was a member and had been treasurer of Star City Methodist Church and in Phoenix she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a niece, Carolyn Brown, who cared for her. Her husband of 60 years, Fred, died in 1985.
Services will be Thursday in Scottsdale Ariz., with burial in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
