Irene Lenn
Irene Simpson Lenn, 100, of Evansville, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Angel River Health & Rehabilitation.
She had worked in the cafeteria at Chrysler Corp. during World War II, and after the war, managed the cafeteria with her husband, Bernard, who died in 1963.
She was a charter member of the RSVP in Birmingham, Ala., and Senior Partners, a member of Eastern Star, AARP, the American Red Cross and served more than 21, 000 volunteer hours at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Birmingham.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy (Lenn) “Dot” Tennis of Evansville; a son, the Rev. Winfred B. of Harpersville, Ala.; a brother, Earl Simpson of Boonville, Ind.; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home, the Rev. Posey Gaines officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with an Eastern Star service at 6:00 p.m.
Marion Townsend
Marion Q. Townsend, 90, of Evansville, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at North Park Nursing Home.
He retired from Mead Johnson Corp.
He was a member of Howell United Methodist Church and the Seniors Bowling League at Franklin Lanes.
Surviving are three sons, David of Evansville, John of Dayton, Ohio, and Bill of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 1981 and a son, Phillip, in 1966.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Janice Y. Akers-Du Bois officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ginger Gasaway
Ginger R. Gasaway, 53, of Evansville, was found slain recently at home.
She was a fork lift operator at T.J. Maxx.
Surviving are two daughters, Melissa “Lisa” Thomson of Rockport, Ind., and Misty S. Wilkins of Owensville, Ind.; her mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Curren Bellow, both of Richland, Ind.; a sister, Terri Bean of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Richard Barnett of Rockport and Charles Barnett of Los Alamos, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 pm. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, with burial in Sunset Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Hurshell Robling
PETERSBURG — Hurshell Dewayne Robling, 57, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Amber Manor Nursing Home of heart failure.
He retired from Old Ben Coal Co. as a coal miner and was a member of the United Mine Workers.
Surviving are four daughters, Cynthia McFarland of Petersburg, Corinna Robling of Holland, Rhonda Dillon of Carlisle and Thelma Dillon of Winslow; fours sisters, Delta June Stone of Peoria, Ill., Sharon Culbertson of Pike County, and Melanna Merriman and Georginna Willis, both of Oakland City; and three grandchildren, Stevie McFarland, Dalton Dillon and Tanner McFarland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Ashby cemetery in Winslow.

Aloysius Erny
JASPER — Aloysius O. “Woody” Erny, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center.
He was a retired custodian for Jasper High School and Middle School, and had worked as a crossing guard.
He was a World War II Army veteran, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 and the American Legion.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Martina; four sons, Gerald and Melvin “Bud, ” both of Vincennes, James of Wickliffe and John of Ireland; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Mary Abbott
PRINCETON — Mary Katherine “Kay” Abbott, 85, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Gibson General Hospital.
She retired as a teller after 30 years at the former Farmers Bank.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gibson County Art Gould, Sorosis Women’s Sorority, Tri-Kappa Sorority, Women’s Association of the church and a former treasurer of the American Heart Association.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Stoll of Princeton and Janet Boehmer of St. Louis; a sister, Marcia Brougham of Princeton; a brother, Ray Jerauld “Jerry” Watson of Princeton; four grandchildren, Susan Gray, John, Jim and Joe Stoll; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband, James C., died in 1995.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Patoka.
Friends may call from noon to service time at Colvin Funeral Home.

William Lewis
PETERSBURG — William Russell Lewis, 85, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Petersburg Health Care.
He was owner and manager of Winslow Lumber Co., and was a Pike County school bus driver for 52 years.
He was a World War II Army veteran, with service as an ambulance driver in the Philippines, and helped build P-38 airplanes in Evansville.
He graduated from Winslow High School in 1934.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Winslow Kiwanis and Patoka Loafers, and served on the Pike County Fair Board.
Surviving are three daughters, LaRae Sorrell of Chillicothe, Ohio, Karen Bell of Petersburg and Alicia MacMunn of Fort Branch; a sister, JoAnn Witherspoon of Portland; a brother, James Lewis of Madisonville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with burial in Pleasant Ridge cemetery in Winslow.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at Harris Funeral Home.

Huber Shelton
VINCENNES — Huber B. “Squire” Shelton, 83, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Crestview Convalescent Center.
He retired as manager of materials and supplies in the operation, planning and control departments from Stokely-Van Camp in 1978 after 44 years.
He was a life member and former president of the National Association of Purchasing Managers, IV district vice-president of N.A.P.M. and a member of the Seventh andEighth United Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Surviving are his son, Greg of Indianapolis; his brother, Kermit of Carmel; his sister, Ruby Swickard of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine M., and a son, Dr. N. Philip.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Great Hall Chapel at Washington Park cemetery in Indianapolis.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the Great Hall Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seventh and Eighth United Christian Church or to the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church Education Fund. Both are located in Indianapolis.
There will be no visitation at the Gardner-Brockman funeral home in Vincennes.
Wilburn Brandt
Wilburn J. Brandt, 66, of Evansville, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He had been the police chief in South Roxana, Ill.
Surviving are a daughter, Beth Brewer of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three sons, Eric J. of Charleston, S.C., Kurt of Alton, Ill., and Rex of Longmont, Colo.; his mother, Frances Brandt Smith of Evansville; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Kurt Brandt officiating, with burial in Zoar United Church of Christ cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ola Washington
Ola M. Washington, 79, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at her home of a heart attack.
She was a service clerk at Kruckemeyer & Cohn Jewelry.
She was a member of the McFarland Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Lander Dorsey of Evansville; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews including Paulina Bruin, who cared for her.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel, the Rev. W. J. Brown Jr. officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with a wake service from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
