John Klamer
John Herman Klamer, 75, of Clayton, Mo., formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the Bethesda-Dilworth Memorial Home. He was incapacitated by a stroke 18 years ago.
He had owned and operated J.H. Klamer Co. in St. Louis and was an alderman for the city of Frontenac, Mo.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving on a destroyer escort in the Pacific.
He received a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University.
He served as committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 618 in Missouri.
Surviving are three sons, J. Mark, Bruce C. and Keith Daniel, all of Clayton; a brother, Charles of Santa Claus, Ind.; and four grandchildren, Emily Hutchins Klamer, John Davis, Laura Kerley and John “Jack” Ferguson Klamer.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. Donald W. Bernhardt officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda-Dilworth Memorial Home or the First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, Mo.
Karen Luigs
Karen Kaye (Winstead) Luigs, 47, of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of cancer.
She owned and operated Willow Creek Stables and had been a nursing assistant in the offices of Drs. Wallace Adye and Roy N. Smith Jr for three years and also for Dr. Wayne Alley.
She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, actively involved in PTA and church affiliated youth and adult programs.
She gave riding lessons to children.
Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Michael A.; a daughter, Jenni, at home; a son, Drew, at home; her parents, John “Jay” and Sue Winstead of Evansville; and four sisters, Marianna Meachen of Kaneoche, Hawaii, Jolene Schwartz of Pendergrass, Ga., Jana Roettgero of Evansville and Wendy Winstead of Shelbyville, Ky.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Revs. Jack Durchholz and William Traylor officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 5 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Carrie Hollerbach
Carrie M. Hollerbach, 101, of Manhattan, Kan., formerly of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Stoney Brook Retirement Village.
She retired from Deaconess Hospital as a nurse’s aide.
She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ and the Quilters Guild.
Surviving are a daughter, Marian McCandless Quinlan of Manhattan; two grandchildren, Karen McCandless Cook and John Scott McCandless; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Kimron Reising officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Infant Orion Hanson
Orion Robert Hanson, son of Dawn Manges and Robert Hanson, both of Evansville, died shortly after birth at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
He was Christian.
Also surviving are a sister, Jessica Hart of Evansville; a brother, Joseph Manges of Lady Lake, Fla.; grandparents, Robert and Mia Hanson; and a great-grandmother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Georgian Chapel at Park Lawn cemetery, the Rev. Bret Nicholson officiating, with burial in the Garden of the Innocent. There will be no visitation at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel.
William Miller
TELL CITY, Ind. — William R. Miller, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He retired in 1980 from General Electric in Tell City.
He was a World War II Army veteran and past commander of the American Legion Post 213 and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara DeBolt of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
His wife, Francis Lydia (Whitley), died in 1999.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. EST Friday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.

Norma Singer
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Norma “Jean” Singer, 71, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of severe arthritis.
She retired after 17 years as a bookkeeper for the Production Credit Association.
She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, the Huntingburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 Ladies Auxiliary and charter member of the Yahtzee Card Club.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Robert L. “Bob”; a daughter, Cindy Fuhs of Huntingburg; two sisters, Helen Spinner of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and Louise Schoppenhorst of Huntingburg; two brothers, Roger Ingle of Horseshoe Bend and Jack Ingle of Ossian; two grandchildren, Ross Fuhs and Ryan Estabrook; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.

Carolyn Greenwell
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Carolyn A. Greenwell, 57, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Burlington Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, N.J. She had diabetes and emphysema.
She had worked for Merrill Lynch in Indianapolis, Chicago and Philadelphia for 36 years. She last held the position of district administrative manager and vice president of Merrill Lynch Private Client Services.
She attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Mount Laurel, N.J.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Friday at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Titzer Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Loretta Fischer
ST. PHILIP, Ind. — Loretta F. Fischer, 76, died Tuesday at Deaconess Hospital from pulmonary fibrosis.
She worked at Deaconess Hospital as a nursing assistant for 14 years and at Fischer Woodworking as a bookkeeper for the last 10 years.
She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Richard J.; two daughters, Marienne Hauschild of Mount Vernon and Catherine Euler of Elberfeld; nine sons, Joseph of Mount Vernon, Glenn of Greenwood, Patrick of Indianapolis and James, Robert, Stanley, Edward, Steven and Richard, all of Evansville; three sisters, Pauline Fluty of Wichita, Kan., and Edith Hagan and Florence Wannemuehler, both of Evansville; a brother, Richard Schenk of Mount Vernon; and 23 grandchildren.
A son, Mark, died in 1951.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Philip Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm. Thursday, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Pierre Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

Harold Walls
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Harold W. Walls, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Daviess Community Hospital.
He retired from the McCord Corp.
He was a member of the Trinity Gospel Tabernacle.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia; four daughters, Marilyn and Dorothy Mathis and Donna James, all of Washington, and Arvilla Thompson of Plainfield; two stepdaughters, Virginia Sams of Vincennes and Terry Sue Pickett of Peoria, Ill.; four sons, James of Boise, Idaho, Eugene of Gosport and David and Kenneth, both of Washington; two stepsons, William T. and Gary Wilson, both of Farmington, N.M.; a brother, Denver of Otwell; 28 grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
His first wife, Fannie Harriett (Adams), his second wife, Virginia (Wilson), and a son, Paul, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Gill Funeral Home and from noon to service time at the church.
Jane Lewis
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Jane A. Lewis, 90, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Washington Nursing Center.
She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Largent of Indiantown, Fla., and Carolyn Shaner of Monroe City; a son, Maurice Dean Cunningham of Washington; a sister, Wilma Fox of Brooksville, Fla.; a brother, Earl Tom Lett of Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Theodore Cunningham, died in 1953, her second husband, Raymond Lewis, died in 1964, and a son, Donald J. Cunningham, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
