Janessa Kempf
Janessa Kempf, 3, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind., of asphyxiation.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Surviving are her mother, Kelly Davis of Evansville; her father, Jeff Kempf of Evansville; a sister, Jensen Kempf of Evansville; a brother, Korbett Kempf of Evansville; and grandparents, Greg and Edwina Kempf, Sharon and Charley Sisson and Don E. Davis.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Rev. Jay Davidson officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Helen Holder
Helen N. Holder, 82, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Columbia Healthcare Center.
She had worked at Adler Distributing and Franklin Pastry Shop.
She attended and sang in the choir at Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Dorothy Brown and Pearl Evans, both of Evansville and Fern Hulsey of St. Philip, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. Don Kanet officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Anna Ellis
Anna J. Ellis, 90, of Newburgh, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
She was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma Jean Olive of Irving, Texas, and Mary Jane Wedding of Newbugh; three sons, Dr. John W. Jr. of Richmond, Va., David L. of South Lyon, Mich., and Michael R. of Fort Myers, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband of 64 years, John, died in 1993.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, the Rev. David H. Lee officiating, with burial in Rose Hill cemetery in Newburgh.

Helen Turner
TELL CITY — Helen A. Turner, 87, of Lewisport, Ky., formerly of Tell City, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport.
She was a beautician and had owned Helen’s Beauty Shop in Hawesville, Ky.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Les; three stepdaughters, Anita White of Lewisport, Dolores Hahus of Mount Pleasant and Virginia White of Hawesville; two sisters, Rose Hagan of Tell City and Lucille Walters of New Albany; a brother, Earl Jarboe of Cannelton; eight stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel, with burial in Deer Creek cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery.
Jill Wittenmyer
VINCENNES — Jill E. Wittenmyer, 50, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She had been a supervisor at the Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was a member of Southside Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, David; a son, Eric of Indianapolis; her mother, Patsy McNeece of Vincennes; three sisters, Jan Miles and Jama Sanders, both of Vincennes, and Judy Schatz of Lawrenceville; and three brothers, Jerry, Jon and Jay McNeece, all of Vincennes.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home. The body will be cremated.

Oneva Hardin
PETERSBURG — Oneva Hardin, 84, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Amber Manor Nursing Home.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Bicknell.
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis Kirby of Noblesville and Linda Williams of Monroe City; two sons, Clement of Otwell and Eugene of Vincennes; a sister, Allegra Farwick of Huntingburg; two brothers, Bert “Pershing” Russell of Holland and Denzell Russell of Otwell; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow, with burial in Augusta cemetery in Winslow.

John Merry
ENGLISH — John W. Merry, 70, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at his home of lung cancer.
He had been an electrician, was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 181 and was a major in the English volunteer fire department.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Underwater Demolition Team and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6160.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; three daughters, Linda McCollough of Ingalls and Debbie Pittman and Dawn Adams, both of English; two sons, Rodney Merry of Houston and Vincent Wright of Bloomington; a sister, Wilma Davis of Paoli; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A son, John Russel Merry, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bethany Union Church in Crawford County, with burial in the church cemetery, with military rites.

Kermit Biddle
VINCENNES — Kermit D. Biddle, 88, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
He retired in 1988 after 30 years with Ace Auto.
He was on the advisory board of Palmyra Township/Knox County Water Department and was a member of the First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude; two daughters, Madalyn Peters of Monroe City and Deborah Catt of Ponchatoula, La.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Emily Delaine Biddle, and an infant preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Greenlawn cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Repasky
Dorothy C. “Dottie” Repasky, 78, of Evansville formerly of Cedar Lake, Ind., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and attended Bethel Temple.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Andrew; three daughters, Grace Potocki of Crown Point, Ind., Betty Travis of Lowell, Ind., and Deborah Beasley of Evansville; two sons, John of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Andrew Jr. of Gypsum, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Eller Brady Funeral Home in Cedar Lake, with burial in Orchard Grove cemetery in Lowell.
Donna Maddox
Donna Maddox, 95, of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at East Pointe Nursing Home.
She was a member of Cleaves Memorial CME Church for more than 40 years.
Surviving are a sister, Bernice Knight of Evansville; a brother, Frank Chinn of Evansville; and nieces and nephews including Helena Brewster and Gwendolyn Thomas who cared for her.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Cleaves Memorial CME Church, the Rev. James Buckner officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday for a wake service at the church. Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
Walter Kingston
Walter Dewey Kingston, 73, of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of cancer.
Surviving are two sisters, Viola Kingston Abbott of Waynesboro, Ga., and Mary Ann Titus of Mesa, Ariz.; a brother, Carl Richard of Port Orange, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, the Rev. Gary Louis Abbott officiating.

Jewel Howard
Jewel (Vaughan) Howard, 81, sister of Allie Feller and J.B. Vaughan, both of Evansville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at her home in Houston.
Also surviving are a sister, Martha Patmor of Marion, Ky.; and four brothers, George Vaughan of Marion, Kelly Vaughan of Kansas City, Mo., Bruce Vaughan of California, and Gavin Vaughan of Hobbs, N.M.
Her husband, Charles, and her son, Curtis, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn cemetery in Houston, her brother Gavin officiating. The Woodlawn Funeral Home in Houston is handling arrangements.
