Wilma Arvin

LOOGOOTEE — Wilma M. Arvin, 81, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at Northwood Good Samaritan Center in Jasper.

She retired from the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center in 1972 and was a member of Loogootee Christian Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Hoffman of rural Loogootee and Nancy Elliott and Darlene Huebner, both of Jasper; a son, Alan Arvin of rural Loogootee; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Melvin and two sons, David and an infant son, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Loogootee Christian Church, with burial in Goodwill cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Titzer Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the church.

Guy Page

Guy Ewing Page, 88, of Evansville, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at CORE Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He retired from Chrysler Corp. after 38 years.

He was a deacon emeritus of Fellowship Sunday school class at Calvary Baptist Church.

He enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Virginia (Hurt); a daughter, Gayle Nellis of Evansville; two grandsons, Nick and Randy West; two stepgrandsons, Steve and Brent Nellis; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel. the Rev. Allan Pollock officiating, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Charles Miller

Charles G. Miller, 75, of Evansville, died May 15, 2000, at his home of cancer.

He retired after 25 years as a letter carrier, had worked for Peerless Pottery for 19 years, Sunbeam Bakery and the North Side Bank. After retiring, he worked for Hertz Rent-A-Car.

He was a volunteer fireman.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Catholic War Veterans and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114.

He was an adult server and usher at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Virginia “Jenny” (Bretz); four daughters, Sharon A. Carter, Mary A. Rasler, Janet A. Romig and Carol A. Buckman, all of Evansville; a sister, Ann Lubbenhusen of Evansville; three brothers, John W. of Paris, Ill., the Rev. Cletus Miller OSB of Coban, Guatemala, and James II of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Charles Carter, Mandi Romig, Natalie, Megan and Erica Rasler, Robert Watson II, and Tony and Craig Buckman; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, with entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum, with military rites.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church building project or Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice.

Leo Volz

Leo J. Volz, 80, of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at CORE Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He retired from Whirlpool Corp. after 35 years.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ann (Ruxer); a daughter, Myra “Mickey” Weilbrenner of Mount Vernon, Ind.; three sons, Philip and Rex, both of Evansville, and Dr. Nicholas of Mount Vernon; a sister, Theresia Denning of St. Meinrad, Ind.; two brothers, Carl of Evansville and Al of Chicago; 10 grandchildren, Julie Keitel, Alex Weilbrenner and Dana, Carrie, Craig, Emily, Erica, Louis, Maria and Dexter Volz; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hadi Shrine Hospital Fund or the church.

Buddy Dile

Buddy R. Dile, 74, of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center from a ruptured aneurysm.

He was an industrial engineer, retiring in 1984 from Whirlpool Corp.

He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and retired from the National Guard as a master sergeant.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Evansville and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He received the Brute Award in 1999.

He was a past Boy Scout Leader at St. Clement in Boonville and Good Shepherd in Evansville.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Mary; a daughter, Kathleen Dile of England; a son, Rick of Evansville; a sister, Ives Baker of Sarcoxie, Mo.; three grandsons, Jason, Rick and Andy Dile; and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, the pastoral team officiating, with entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Margaret Wilhite

Margaret Sweet Wilhite, 89, formerly of Evansville, died Monday May, 15, 2000, at Jordan Nursing Home in Bridgeman, Mich.

Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Moran of Evansville; a son, Gerry Muncy of New Buffalo, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Kathy Frisse, Mary Moran, Mark, Paul and Ted Muncy, Russel Munsterman and Pam Purkiser; and seven great-grandchildren.

Her husbands, Ted R. Muncy, Joseph VanZant and Vernis Wilhite, and a son, Robert Muncy, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Joseph Baus officiating, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery in New Harmony, Ind.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict Cathedral or the American Heart Association.

Agnes Weikel

Agnes (McCarthy) Weikel, 79, of Evansville, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Parkview Care Center from complications of a stroke.

She retired in 1985 after 15 years with Tri-State Tool & Saw.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and former member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband of 59 years, William F.; a daughter and son-in-law who cared for her, Janet and Ted Zirkelbach of Evansville; a son and daughter-in-law who cared for her, Jerome “Jerry” and Mary of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Kasinger, Karen Weikel and Michelle and Nicole Zirkelbach.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Browning Funeral Home, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rev. Steve Lintzenich officiating, with entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh Humane Society or a favorite charity.

Amos Conover

Amos Leon “Lee” Conover, 67, of Evansville, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of cancer.

He worked out of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 136 for 23 years. He had worked at Schnake Heating & Air, George Koch Sons, Kuebler Heating & Air, J.E. Shekell Heating and Air and Seibe Heating & Air, retiring in 1998 from heating and air conditioning.

He was a member of the Evansville Sociables CB Radio Club.

He attended Eastview Community Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Ruth (Blume); three daughters, Deborah Parson of Newburgh, Cheryl Yates of Madisonville, Ky., and Amy Conover of Evansville; a son, Amos “Butch” Jr. of Evansville; two sisters, Virginia Mayer of Monett, Mo., and Fern Bougeno of Catawissa, Mo.; and nine grandchildren, Misty and Mandy Parson, Tony Lee and Charity Yates, and Tyler, Zachary, Stephanie, Wendy and Kevin Conover.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care or the church.

Floyd Grant Jr.

Floyd Grant Jr., 78, of Henderson, Ky., formerly of Evansville, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson of heart failure.

He was the owner and operator of Grant’s Office Supplies and developer of the Grantwood Hills subdivision. He was founder and former owner of Henderson Airport.

He was a World War II Naval Air Corps veteran, serving as a pilot.

He was a graduate of Reitz High School and had attended the University of Evansville.

He was a member of Presbyterian Church in Henderson.

He was chairman of Henderson Regional Hospital Foundation and Board, president of the Rotary Club in Henderson, board member of Hugh Edward Sandefur Training Center, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Evansville Petroleum Club, Kennel Club and Ohio Valley Aviation Club.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret Grein; a daughter, Candace Pawlak of Mason, Ohio; three sons, Hank of Norman, Okla., Mark of Henderson and Jeffrey of Morgan Hill, Calif.; six grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Presbyterian Church of Henderson, the Rev. J. Douglas Blair officiating. Burial in Fernwood cemetery in Henderson, with military rites.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m to noon Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or the church.
