Nellie McBride
NEW HARMONY — Nellie E. (Mayville) McBride, 58, of Maynard, Ariz., died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Randolph County Medical Center in Pocahontas, Ariz., of cancer.
She was a Registered Nurse for 22 years.
She was a member of Christian Church in Keensburgh, Ill.
Surviving are her husband, Clayton McBride; a daughter, Dorothy M. Fox of Scottsboro, Ariz.; two sisters, Joyce Ann Blair of Minnesota, and Dorothy Sachs of Allendale, Ill.; four brothers, Paul Coan of New Harmony, Thomas and Phil Coan, both of Spokane, Wash., and Steve of Evansville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her first husband, Glen F. Brand, died in 1988.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Werry Funeral Home New Harmony Chapel, with burial in Maple Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Clemens Knebel
JASPER — Clemens F. “Clemie” Knebel, 85, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
He was a driver for Jasper-Chicago Motor Express and Clairmont Transfer. After retiring he went to work as a night watchman for Jasper Cabinet Co., Haysville Mill and Hilltop Farms.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose and the Izaak Walton League.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Cornelia; six daughters, Sister Doris Marie of Evansville, Rose Mary Higgason of Greensburg, Ky., Sister Margaret Ann of Newark, Del., Joan Knebel of Ferdinand, Ann Knebel Kornegay of Rockville, Md., and Yvonne Knebel of Oakland, Calif.; a son, John of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Tellie Jessup of Camby, Rosalee McFarland of Minneapolis and Mary Ann Hunter of Florida; three brothers, Sylvester of Huntingburg and Linus and Carl, both of Jasper; four grandchildren, Aaron Higgason, Melia Perkins and Julie and Brad Knebel; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery .
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of St. Benedict, Little Sisters of the Poor or Holy Family Catholic Church.
Archie Lofton
OWENSVILLE — Archie Lofton, 87, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
He retired from the Gibson County Highway Department.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Mount Carmel (Ill.) American Legion.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Ruby (McClellan); three daughters, Vickie Moody of Mount Carmel, Cinda Garwood and Wilhmene Walls, both of Princeton; five sons, Keith and Jeffrey of Owensville, Dick of Mount Carmel, Gary of Princeton and Larry Joe of Allendale, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-greatgrandchild.
A son, Charles, died in 1986.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Holder Funeral Home, with burial in Maumee cemetery, with military rites.

Jesse Conkwright
BOONVILLE — Jesse A. Conkwright, 60, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He worked out of Local 37 for 45 years.
Surviving are his wife, Betty L. (Russell); three daughters, Rhonda Lyn Butcher, Kimberlee Faye Gooch and Rebecca Marie Olive, all of Paris, Tenn.; two step daughters, Dawn Christine Cox of Pleasanton, Kan., and Peggy Ann Stark of Kansas City, Mo.; a son, Jesse Allen Jr. of Owensboro, Ky.; five sisters, Byrl Weil-Chapman and Wanda Denton, both of Evansville, Shirley Winstead of Gilbertsville, Ky., Marsha Cothron of Plano, Texas, and Debbie Fraiser of Paducah, Ky.; four brothers, Robert Lee of Evansville and Larry, Tony and Charles “Chip, ” all of Paducah; eight grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday May 20, 2000, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. John R. Hilbert officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Patricia Warner
MOUNT VERNON — Patricia Susan (Cook) Warner, 48, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville of cancer.
She received her bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, Gregory; two daughters, Jennifer and Rebecca Warner of Mount Vernon; her mother, Verna Cook of Ellenton, Fla.; and a sister, Nita Sanders of Charleston, S.C.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel. The body will be cremated.

Catherine Gentry
BOONVILLE — Catherine D. Gentry, 83, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at St. Mary’s Warrick.
She was a member of the Main Street General Baptist Church, the Fanny Crosby Sunday School Class and Warrick County Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Faye Hargrave of Lynnville and Inez Mills of Boonville; a stepson, James of Evansville; and nieces and a nephew who cared for her, Beverly Krantz and Billie Williamson, both of Boonville and James Appel of Newburgh; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Claude Barnhill, died in 1945, her second husband, Elvis Windy Gentry, died in 1977, and a daughter, Earleen Kaye Gentry, died in 1965.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery.

Raymond Schaaf
DALE — Raymond V. Schaaf, 94, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Professional Care Rehabilitation Center.
He was a farmer.
He was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau. He was a 78-year member of Santa Claus United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise (Roell); a daughter, Joan Wright of Indianapolis; a son, Kenneth Schaaf of Dale; three sisters, Mabell Roell and Emogene Van Meter, both of Dale, and Anna Louise Franks of Morganfield, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Claus United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Fuller Funeral Home Dale Chapel and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

George Gram
George E. Gram, 66, of Evansville, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at his home of chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder.
He retired from Arkla after 25 years.
He attended Vann Avenue Baptist Church and was a charter member of Hamilton Golf Course.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Pat; a stepdaughter, Lyn Wilson of Paragould, Ark.; three sons, Joe and Ed, both of Evansville, and Bob of Copperas Cove, Texas; and six grandchildren, Jessica, Katie, Andrea and Rusty Gram and Zach and Alec Wilson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Robert Nall officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.

June Kifer
June Kifer, 69, of Newburgh, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of complications of a stroke.
She worked for Graybar Electric and Roper Corp. in Kankakee, Ill.
She was Methodist and active in the Boy Scouts, PTA and the Santa Clothes Club.
She was a 1948 graduate of Bosse High School.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Doyle; three sons, Gregory of Newburgh, David of Evansville and Steven of Maunie, Ill.; a sister, Lois Helfrich of Evansville; two brothers, Chester Ross of Goodland, Kan., and Glen Ross of Evansville; five grandchildren, Kayla Pfister and Sara, Raven, John Paul and Hunter Grant Kifer; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. W. Kenneth Williams officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.

Helen Cook
Helen L. (Hames) Cook, 86, of Evansville, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Angel River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a 50-year member of Bethel United Church of Christ and a member of the Eagles, Coterie and the Friday Night Dance Club.
Surviving are her husband of 18 years, Maurice; a son, Ronald Hames of Evansville; two grandchildren, Susan Hubele and Pam Dugan; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace Hames, in 1975.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Donald Bernhardt officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
