Peter Schaefer
HUNTINGBURG, Ind. — Peter Paul Schaefer, 91, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at the Providence Home in Jasper. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of St. Meinrad Catholic Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty Yochum of Vincennes, Millie Blemker of Holland and Kathy Schaefer of Brandon; three sons, Charlie of the Providence Home in Jasper, Raphael of Ferdinand and Gary of Huntingburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Louisa (Petry), died in 1976.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg, with burial in St. Meinrad cemetery in St. Meinrad. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at Nass and Son Funeral Home.
Ida Stoll
MONTGOMERY, Ind. — Ida Stoll, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at her home after suffering from cancer.
She co-owned Stoll’s Lakeview Restaurant in Loogootee.
She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruth Kemp of Montgomery, Martha Yoder of Cannelburg and Naomi Graber of Odon; four sons, Clarence and Paul, both of Montgomery, Phillip of Loogootee and Oren of Chandler; three sisters, Lydia Wagler of Odon and Rosie Schrock and Katie Farmwald, both of Illinois; two brothers, Martin Kemp of Loogootee and John Kemp of Cannelburg; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo E., in 1997; a daughter, Rachel (Stoll) Kemp; and by a son, Jesse.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Sunday at Pleasant View Mennonite Church in Montgomery, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time at the church.

Rex Nichols
SELVIN, Ind. — Rex R. Nichols, 70, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at St. Mary’s Warrick Hospital.
He was a Korean War veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 3418 in Boonville.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Nicols of Selvin; a sister, Mynette Dennis of Central City, Ky.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Selvin cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Wilma Flamion
ST. CROIX, Ind. — Wilma K. Flamion, 74, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at her home of pneumonia.
She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Bristow. She was a 1943 graduate of Cannelton High School.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Willard A.; four daughters, Kathy Priebe of St. Croix, Janice Smith and Becky Dauby, both of Atlanta, and Gail Menzel of Lansing, Mich.; three sons, Denny, Brian and Dale, all of St. Croix; three sisters, Mae Keller of Tobinsport, Jean Schroeder of Cannelton and Shirley Dutschke of Monroe, La.; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at St. Isidore Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ Benevolent Fund, Visiting Nurse Association or to St. Isidore Catholic Church.
Mildred Matthews
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Mildred E. Matthews, 81, formerly of Lynnville, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at St. Mary’s Warrick Hospital.
She worked as a housekeeper. She attended Barnett Chapel Church and was a member of the Woodman’s Circle.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Hobart; three daughters, Dixie Menke of Elberfeld, Dottie (Schnur) Cummins of Boonville and Doris Miller of Newburgh; a son, Kenneth of Evansville; 13 grandchildren, Bradley, Timothy and Steven Menke, David and Joseph Schnur, Maria Eisterhold, Ann Downey, Beverly Newcomb, Amy Miller, Cindy Boarman, Randal and Dennis Matthews and Julie Pflug; four stepgrandchildren, Shane and Jason Howell, Anna Greene and Sheila Moser; and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen, in 1959.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bradley Colonial Chapel, with burial in Barnett Chapel cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Raymond Wolf
PRINCETON, Ind. — Raymond T. Wolf, 79, formerly of Mount Carmel, Ill., and Princeton, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in Knoxville, Tenn.
He owned Chevrolet agencies in Princeton and Mount Carmel before moving to Knoxville, where he started the Sonitrol Security business. He was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a captain.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Virginia (Mattingly); two daughters, Stephanie Trephon and Jane Wolf, both of Knoxville; two sons, Raymond Jr. of Knoxville and Tony of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Frank J. of Eldorado, Ill.; and six grandchildren. Services were held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville, Tenn., with burial in Military cemetery in Knoxville.
Eva Stephenson
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Eva Lucile Stephenson, 79, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at St. Mary’s Warrick Hospital.
She attended Freedom General Baptist Church and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Boonville.
Surviving are her husband, Jesse; a daughter, Brenda Matthews of Fenton, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Peggy George of Princeton, Ky., and Linda Stephenson of Florida; a son, Joseph Ray Cullen Sr. of St. Clair, Mo.; four stepsons, James Stephenson of Eddyville, Ky., Donnie Stephenson of Lebanon, Tenn., Robert Stephenson of Princeton, Ky., and Phillip Wayne of Arkansas; a brother, Maurice Williams of Lynnville; three grandchildren, Joseph Ray Cullen Jr. and Tracie Dawn and Brian David Matthews; four stepgrandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

Charles Carroll Sr.
Charles W. Carroll Sr., 71, of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of a heart attack.
He worked at Peter Healy Brass Laundry for more than 24 years and retired from Karges Furniture.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Edna; two sons, Charles W. Jr. and Fred A., both of Evansville; his mother, Coriene Carroll of Evansville; and four grandsons, Fred Jr., Jason, Dustin and Eric Carroll.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Tim Suenram officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park.

Lucy Jones
Lucy Jones, 73, of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the McCurdy Healthcare Center.
She retired in 1988 as a domestic and was a former member and active on the Mother’s Board at Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
Surviving is a daughter, Letitia Jones of Evansville.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. Marion Johnson officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.
Lucille Wilkins
Lucille (Powers) Wilkins, 98, of Evansville, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the McCurdy Healthcare Center.
She had worked at the Stove Works and at Servel.
She had attended God of Prophecy.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are a brother, Johnny Powers of Hawesville, Ky.; two granddaughters, Carolyn Epperson and Gordon Mayberry; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis, in 1952; by two daughters, Athalene Sutton in 1981 and Faye Lambert in 1995; and by a son, Cecil Sanders, in 1985.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, the Rev. William Gaddis officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Gladys Winter
Gladys M. Winter, 69, of Munster, Ind., mother of Sandy Winter of Evansville, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, in Munster of respiratory failure.
She was past president of Illiana Chapter of Hadassah, a member of Congregation Beth Israel and past president of the Temple Sisterhood.
Also surviving are her husband of 48 years, J. Ernest; a daughter, Debbie Shetkel of Madison, Wis.; a son, Marc of Carmel, Ind.; and seven grandchildren, Ali, Sara, Samantha, Chris, Megan and Brian Winter and Stav Shetkel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Burns-Kish Funeral Home in Munster, with burial in Oak Woods cemetery in Chicago.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Illiana Chapter of Hadassah or the Blue Grass Methodist Church.
Mary Nuyen
Mary “Willie” Nuyen, 76, formerly of Evansville, died, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Kinder Care Nursing Home in Kalamazoo, Mich., of respiratory failure.
During World War II she worked at Servel and she retired from Eckrich in Kalamazoo.
Surviving are two daughters, Sherrie Hyet of Gobles, Mich., and Connie Taylor of Kalamazoo; five sisters, Ethel Francis of Henderson, Ky., Rachel Lynn and Joan Gray, both of Morganfield, Ky., Agnes Byrd of Memphis, Tenn., and Dorothy Singer of Evansville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1998 and an infant son, Terry.
Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery in Kalamazoo.
