Marjorie Stovall
Marjorie (Carter) Stovall, 84, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
She retired in 1951 from the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. after 14 years as an elementary school teacher. She later was a substitute teacher for 10 years, retiring in 1968.
She was a member of East Side Christian Church, the Evansville Garden Club and the Ladies 9-Hole Golf Association at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Dwight; a daughter, Amy Connors of Evansville; a sister, Lorene Carter of Evansville; and two grandchildren, Kerry and Jimmy.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. James Bisch officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grace Mann
Grace N. (Kirby) Mann, 75, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital of a stroke.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Evansville Garden Club.
She was a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are three sisters, Ruby Carver and Dorothy Hardinson, both of Beech Creek, Ky., and Ann Baxter of Central City, Ky.; two brothers, William and Lucky Kenneth Kirby, both of Beech Creek; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W., in 1996, and by a daughter, Nancy “Babbs” Thompson, in 1992.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Alexander Memorial Park, the Revs. Louis H. Dorsch and Markus Auffermann officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel.
Edith Roach
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Edith E. Roach, 70, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She was a member of St. Simons Church and the Moose Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Bernard; three daughters, Jane M. Gerber and Kathy A. Mider, both of Washington, and Debbie L. Walton of Columbus; four sons, John B. and James A., both of Washington, Donald R. of Terre Haute and Jeff P. of Indianapolis; two sisters, Gertrude Miller of Cannelburg and Margaret Louise Dinkens of Washington; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Simons Church, with burial in St. Johns cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. EST today, with a wake service at 6:30 p.m., at Ed Lee Mortuary.
Kathryn Curnel
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Kathryn (Tevault) Curnel, 75, formerly of Boonville, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Fort Smith, Ark., of congestive heart failure.
Surviving are her husband, Lawson; a daughter, Kathy Sweeney of Fort Smith; two sons, Kim Lawrence Curnel of Fort Smith and Scott Alan Curnel of Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren; and a niece and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will be in Fort Smith.
Robert Lanning
MONROE CITY, Ind. — Robert Lanning, 67, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Crestview Nursing Home in Vincennes of cancer.
He retired from Johnson Controls as a tool & die maker.
He was a member of Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was a Korean War Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Tim of Wheatland and Chris of Monroe City; two brothers, John of Lafayette and Lewis of Monroe City; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hamline Chapel United Methodist Church in Monroe City, with burial in Hamline Chapel cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Vincennes.

Ida Potter
EDWARDSPORT, Ind. — Ida Marie Potter, 78, formerly of Edwardsport, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home in Dundee, Fla.
She had worked for Kresge.
She was a member of Edwardsport Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin; four daughters, Darlene Potter of Dundee, Christine Garcia of Thornton, Colo., Janette Hurtado of Denver and Annette Hurley of Phoenix; three sons, Ronnie of Arbondale, Fla., Don of Indianapolis and Joe of Hollywood, Calif.; a sister, Judith Allen of Ragsdale; two brothers, Arthur Pearce of Bicknell and Warren Pearce of Haines City, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel, with burial in Edwardsport Town cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jack Neukam
JASPER, Ind. — Jack L. Neukam, 65, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was a self-employed contractor and truck driver.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Huntingburg and American Legion Post 147.
Surviving are his wife Suzanne; two daughters, Debbie Roach of Huntingburg and Donna Rasche of Dubois; a stepdaughter, Sue Cole of Dubois; seven sons, Terry and Jason, both of Dubois, Tim of Celestine and John, Joe, Paul and Jack D., all of Huntingburg; two stepsons, David Gehlhausen of Evansville and Scott Gehlhausen of Dubois; two sisters, Edith Marshall of St. Paul, Minn., and JoAnn Greene of Granger; 17 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Wednesday at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel, with burial in St. Paul’s cemetery in Haysville.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. EST Tuesday at the funeral home.

Larry Brock
Larry L. Brock, 62, of Newburgh, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at St. Mary’s Warrick Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
He retired in September 1999 from CSX Railroad after 31 years as an engineer. He attended Christ Chapel Church.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Mary (Johns); three sons, Randy L. of Princeton, Ind., Ray, at home, and Jeff of Evansville; two brothers, James of Princeton and Jerry of Brigham City, Utah; two grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Brock; and five stepgrandchildren, Samantha Melton, Kyle Mincy and Travis, Jeremy and Ashley Beach.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. J.T. Price officiating, with burial in Atkinson Chapel cemetery in Oatsville, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Gladys Smith
Gladys June Smith, 86, of Evansville, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher and a member of the Eastern Star in Pomona Park, Fla.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived, Ann and Jim Cavera of Evansville; a son, Michael of Warrenton, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Jim, Katie, Chris and Laura Cavera and Lee Ann Smith. Her husband, Hymie, died in 1998.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Carson McClane Funeral Home in Valdosta, Ga.

William Evans
William “Slim” Evans, 82, of Evansville, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at North Park Nursing Center. He retired in 1978 from CSX Railroad, having worked for C&EI;, L&N; and CSX for 40 years.
He was a member of Albright United Methodist Church for more than 25 years and a volunteer driver for the Tri-State Food Bank. He was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1114.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Frances (Garrett); a daughter, Pamela Rae Hill of Muncie, Ind.; two sons, Tommy Wayne of Evansville and John Rodney of Terre Haute, Ind.; four grandchildren, Heather Carlson, Brandie Coleman, Jennifer McCullough and John J. Evans; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Browning Funeral Home with entombment in Locust Hill Mausoleum, with military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Douglas Bell
Douglas Jerome Bell, 21, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center emergency room of acute myocardial infarction.
He worked for the Black Coalition Temporary Service.
He was preparing to go to the Semi-Pro Football League. He attended Reitz High School and Central High School, where he played football.
Surviving are a daughter, Ajestika Bell of Indianapolis; three sons, Trevonte and Graberal, both of Evansville, and Jordan of Laverne, Tenn.; his parents, Teretha “Penny” Hooper and Tony Bell, both of Evansville; three sisters, Kamali Givens, Tonisha Bell and Joanna Bell, all of Evansville; three brothers, Kent “Little Kenny” Bailey and Tarmarr Bell, both of Evansville, and Jevon McNary of Springfield, Mass.; his grandparents, Frank Douglas and Coleen Collins and James and Patricia Wadlington; his great-grandmother; and nieces and nephews.
