Gene Richards
Gene W. Richards, 76, formerly of Evansville, died Friday, March 10, 2000, in Lakeland, Fla.
He retired from Whirlpool in 1984.
He was a Navy veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Lakeland; a daughter, Ann Pearson of Evansville; five stepdaughters; three sons, Donald of Indianapolis, David of Vincennes and Paul of Coloma, Mich.
Services and burial will be in St. Joseph, Mich.

Herbert Seger
JASPER, Ind. — Herbert J. Seger, 85, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at his home.
He retired from the Jasper Desk Co.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Holy Name Society and American Legion Post 147.
Surviving are two daughters, Rosie Bartley of Santa Claus and Margaret Fleck of Ferdinand; a son, Michael of Paoli; a brother, James of Mariah Hill; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clementine (Gogel), who died in 1982, and by two children in infancy.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. EST Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer vigil at 4 p.m., at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
William Wolf
JASPER, Ind. — William G. Wolf, 90, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was a retired farmer and had worked for Brosmer Lumber Co.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Jerger of Ireland; a son, Kenneth L. of Jasper; a sister, Oleta Kieffner of Jasper; and five grandchildren.
His wife, Lillian (Kieffner), died in 1995.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Haysville, with burial in St. Paul’s cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home North Chapel in Jasper and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

Francis Hoefling
FORT BRANCH, Ind. — Francis Edward Hoefling, 84, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
He worked at Emge Meat Packing.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Knights of St. John in Haubstadt.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; three daughters, Rose Gerth and Phyllis Hoefling, both of Evansville, and Helen Marie Perkins of Fort Branch; a sister, Dolores Niemeier of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren, Aaron and Brian Gerth, Gregory, Jeff, Mike and Tim Graper, Ed and Pat Odom, Lynnette Mann and Melissa Salmon; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, MaryAnn Graper, in 1998, and Carolyn Salmon, in 1994; and by a son, Joseph, in 1995.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery.

Mary Nolan
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Mary Ann Nolan, 65, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington of a heart attack.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and the Circle of Peace Prayer Group.
Surviving are her husband, Donald; two daughters, Kim Neeley of Evansville and Donna Lottes of Loogootee; two sons, Steven and Gene, both of Loogootee; her mother, Helen (Strange) Smith of Loogootee; a sister, Elaine Carrico of Loogootee; two brothers, Thomas Smith of Brazil and Howard Smith of Sellersburg; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in St. John cemetery.

Fern Davis
WINSLOW, Ind. — Fern Elizabeth Davis, 89, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
She was a teacher of English, home economics, music, art and physical education. She taught at Mount Olympus High School from 1933 to 1938, Folsomville from 1939 to 1941, Spurgeon from 1941 to 1943, Otwell High School from 1957 to 1960 and at Petersburg High School from 1962 to 1972, when she retired.
She was a member of Winslow General Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Winslow Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron and Grand Representative.
She was a 1931 graduate of Oakland City College.
Surviving are her husband, Treaver; a daughter, Treva Brashears of Naperville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Tuesday at Winslow General Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery in Winslow.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow and from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakland City University Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Virgil May
HAUB-STADT, Ind. — Virgil S. May, 73, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was a former cashier at Haustadt State Bank and owned Hartig Insurance Co. in Fort Branch.
He was a member of Fort Branch First Presbyterian Church, Fort Branch Kiwanis, Fort Branch Veterans of Foreign Wars 2714, Haubstadt American Legion Post, past District 7 Commander of the American Legion, a 50-year member of both the Eastern Star and Fort Branch Masonic Lodge 696, and a member of the Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
Surviving are a brother, Richard of Evansville; a niece and nephews; and a friend who cared for him, Phyllis Taylor of Fort Branch.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Branch, with burial in Liberty cemetery in Cynthiana.

Marie Jones
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Marie E. (Hart) Jones, 78, formerly of Boonville, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home in Naperville, Ill.
She worked as a registered nurse for Illinois Wesleyan Hospital and later worked as a maintenance supervisor at Motorola Co. in Schaumburg, Ill., for 19 years.
She was a member of the Chicago Primitive Baptist Church in Dyer.
She was a graduate of Wesley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Choquette of Las Vegas, Clara Neubert of Schaumburg and Linda Erskine of Naperville; two brothers, Tom Hart of Aurora, Colo., and Edwin “Bud” Hart of Boonville; four grandchildren, Ken and Kurt Choquette, Debbie Lay and Jodie Perkins; two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Maon J., died in 1982.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home in Naperville, Ill., and services will also be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Church in Plano, Iowa, with burial in Jones cemetery in Plano.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Naperville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association, Chicago Area Chapter.
Marie Koressel
Marie J. Koressel, 78, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at her home of complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
She had worked at Fendrich Cigar Co., Republic Aviation and as a housekeeper at St. Philip Catholic Church rectory and St. Theresa Catholic Church rectory.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and the church Ladies Club.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Thomas; a daughter, Marlene Weinzapfel of St. Philip; a son, Richard of Evansville; three sisters, Amelia Horstman and Irene Scheller, both of St. Philip, and Agnes Scheller of Evansville; a brother, Raymond Koressel of Evansville; and three grandchildren, Ellen Nichole, Leah Marie and Pamela Jean Weinzapfel.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, the Rev. Michael Allen officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a memorial service at 8 p.m., at Pierre Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.

Neal Thomas Jr.
Neal Thomas Jr., 63, of Indianapolis, formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Winona Hospital of heart failure.
He was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School.
Surviving are his wife, Joane (Gaither); two daughters, Connie Smith and Michelle Casel, both of Indianapolis; two sons, Neal III and Ted, both of Indianapolis; his father, Neal Thomas Sr. of Evansville; a brother, G.L. Thomas of Indianapolis; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. EST Tuesday at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Indianapolis.
