Zola Ringo
OAKLAND CITY, Ind. — Zola F. VanMeter Ringo, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ in Lynnville and Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliaries.
Surviving are five stepdaughters, Janice Mitchell of Oakland City, Judith Hunt and Lorain Harris, both of Boonville, Johnette Ringo of Mount Washington, Ky., and Becky James of Dale; a son, Barry VanMeter of Oakland City; four grandchildren, Andy, Brandy, Peyton and Blayne VanMeter; 14 stepgrandchildren; 28 stepgreat-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Arba VanMeter, died in 1975; her second husband, John Ringo, died this month; and a stepdaughter, Eva Leonard, died in 1992.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, with burial in Montgomery cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Nellie Murdoch
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Nellie E. Murdoch, 93, died Sunday Feb. 20, 2000, at the Washington Nursing Center.
She had been the secretary at Murdoch Lumber Co. She and her late husband, James Donald, owned and operated the Boardwalk Motel from 1936 to 1966.
Surviving are nieces and nephews; and Rosemary, who cared for her.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove cemetery.

Thelma Brandl
WASHINGTON, Ind. — Thelma Johnson Brandl, 93, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Wagnon Place Nursing Home in Warren, Ark.
She had been a hotel manager for the Hyatt Corp.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Warren.
Surviving is her sister, Carolyn Yarbrough of San Diego, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST today in Oak Grove cemetery.

Frances Bradley
Frances Bradley, 90, formerly of Evansville, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Evansville.
Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Hayse of Evansville; a son, Ed L. of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Louise Roper of Murray, Ky., and Rachel Wilson of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Ed, died in 1988.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Murray City cemetery in Murray, Ky. J.H. Churchill Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Viva Griffin
Viva June (Vickery) Griffin, 75, of Evansville, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She had worked for L. Berman & Co. for 30 years. She enjoyed carpentry and helped build several homes in Evansville.
She was a member of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Evansville.
Surviving are a daughter, Deana Griffin of Evansville; two sons, William R. Shehorn of Henderson, Ky., and Herbert Mac Shehorn of Evansville; three sisters, Maureen Wiggins of Las Vegas, Ava Nell Burch of Highland, Ind., and Ruby Hunt of Lake City, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Lisa, Shannon, Timothy, Rodney, Samuel and Sara Shehorn and Tammy Lloyd; and 14 great-grandchildren.
His first husband, Herbert M. Shehorn, died in 1982, and her second husband, Brice B. Griffin, died in 1994.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. John Zeigler officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.

Amelia Specht
Amelia “MeAnn” (Fuchs) Specht, 76, formerly of Evansville, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Anchorage Nursing Home in Bensenville, Ill., of heart failure.
She retired from Equifax.
She was a 1941 Memorial High School graduate.
She was a former member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and had been active in the ladies auxiliary. She was a member of the Junior League, St. Mary’s Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary and the Evansville Bridge Club.
Surviving are her son, Fred of Carol Stream, Ill.; three brothers, Robert J. and Gerald G., both of Evansville, and Thomas G. of Naples, Fla.
Her husband, Fred, died in 1975.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Cathedral, the Rev. Harold Hammerstein officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Browning Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Sisters of St. Benedict.
June Gilham
June Arleen (Pollock) Gilham, 72, of Eureka, Mo., formerly of Evansville, died Friday, March 17, 2000, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis from a heart attack.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Harold Eugene; two daughters, Marian Nicks of Owensville, Mo., and Debra Bruce of High Ridge, Mo.; a son, Thomas of Eureka; two brothers, Jackie Pollock of Boonville, Ind., and Jerry Pollock of Evansville; nine grandchildren, Teri Highley, Christopher Demper, Brandy and Brant Bruce, Tammy Horne and Tommy, Tika, Lucas and Sharon Gilham; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill, Mo., with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elbert Westfall
Elbert A. Westfall, 85, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Good Samaritan Home.
He was Mead Johnson’s first commercial artist and worked there for 37 years.
He was a 1932 graduate of Central High School in Downtown Evansville.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 464, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine and was a life member of the Eagles and River Bend Association. He enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie E.; a son, Thomas E. of Evansville; and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. James Coons-Torn officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, and from 1 p.m. to service time at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel.
Marjorie Snively
NEW HARMONY, Ind. — Marjorie H. Snively, 87, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at New Harmonie Healthcare Center.
She had been a seamstress.
Surviving are three daughters, Ina Little of New Harmony, Helen Hardin of Greenfield and Marjorie Ibrahim of Denver; a stepdaughter, Virginia Hanson of Kirkland, Wash.; three brothers, Herman Simpson of Flushing, N.Y., Robert Simpson of Mount Vernon and Howard Simpson of Evansville; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Mervill M., died in 1981.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Werry Funeral Home New Harmony Chapel, with burial in Mount Pleasant cemetery in Griffin.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Donnis Reinhart
LOOGOOTEE, Ind. — Donnis C. Reinhart, 75, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper of cancer.
He was the founder and former owner of the Formula V Pharmacy in Loogootee and recently worked at Builder Best Lumber Co.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He had served on the Loogootee park board, Martin County Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Martin County Co-Op Credit Committee.
He was member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Parsons, Carla Williams and Bobbie Cherry, all of Loogootee; two sons, Donald Reinhart of Loogootee and Gary McCord of North Vernon, Ind.; a sister, Maxine Reinhart of Loogootee; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his first wife, Wilma M. (Winninger), his second wife, Ora Mae (Burton), a daughter, Judith Ann, and a son, James L.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday at the Loogootee United Methodist Church, with burial in Goodwill cemetery, with military rites.
