Richard Dawes
Richard R. Dawes, 60, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at his home of cancer.
He was self-employed and had retired from Prost Inc. in retail liquor sales after 14 years. He also had been a banker with National City Bank and Peoples Savings bank.
He served as assistant Scoutmaster and committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 322 for 18 years and for 12 years had attended Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico as an advisor for the troop.
He served in the Army in Germany during the Cold War.
He was a graduate of Bosse High School and had served as a football trainer.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Jennifer (Brooks); two sons, Eric of Indianapolis and Carl of Chicago; two sisters, Suzanne Dawes of Louisville and Deborah Van Zandt of Newburgh; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Joseph Baus officiating, burial pending.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Theresa Vescovi
Theresa M. Vescovi, 91, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 2, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
She retired as secretary from General Dynamics in New London, Conn.
She was a member of the Italian Dramatics Club Auxiliary in New London.
Surviving are a son, Ray of Evansville; four sisters, Nora Pasqualini of New London, Mary Farmer of San Diego, Calif., Lena Devlin of Waterford, Conn., and Vera Valentini of Uncasville, Conn.; a brother, Aldo Valentini of New London; five grandchildren, Lisa Kohl, Cynthia and Robert Vescovi, Ellen Crane Mullen and Jenifer Miller; 10 great-grandchildren; and a companion, Sue Steele, who cared for her.
Her husband, Bruno, died in 1983.
Services will be Wednesday in Waterford, Conn., with burial in Jordan cemetery.

Louis Dearing
PRINCETON, Ind. — Louis Edward Dearing, 57, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center due to diabetes and renal failure.
He retired as a welder and machinist from the Pacific Shear & Press.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving are a daughter, Stacey Dearing of Houston; two sons, Wayne of Patoka and Derrick of Princeton; two sisters, Ruthanne Antey of Princeton and Sharon Green of Evansville; four brothers, George Jr. of Harrison, Ark., James of Lynnville and Alvin and John Paul “Jack, ” both of Princeton; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Columbia White Church cemetery, with military rites.

Marvin Pride
JASPER, Ind, . — Marvin W. Pride, 85, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at Heritage House Nursing Center.
He had been a farmer in Boone Township.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Disables American Veterans and Traylor Union Church of God in Otwell.
Surviving are a son, Gary of Jasper; two sisters, Louana Yeager of Evansville and Pauline King of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Maurice of Evansville and Delmar of Otwell; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
His wife, Ernestine (Weisheit), died in 1996.
Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Saturday at Becher & Kluesner North Chapel, with burial in Otwell cemetery.

Adam Bellner
JASPER, Ind. — Adam Bellner, 20, took his own life Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at his home.
He worked at Servants Inc. in Jasper.
He was a 1998 graduate of Jasper High School, was involved in the band and had attended Nashville Auto Diesel College.
Surviving are his parents, Donna and Kenny Bellner of Jasper; and grandparents, Alice Bockelman and Frieda (Bellner) Messmer.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Becher & Kluesner Downtown Chapel, with a memorial service by the Jasper High School Class of 1998 and St. Joseph Parish at 6 p.m.
Chester Rowe
MOUNT VERNON, Ind. — Chester G. Rowe, 76, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at the home of a daughter from emphysema.
He retired from the J. R. Short Milling Co. as a spouter.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the Owen Dunn American Legion Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are four daughters, Rosie Benton of New Harmony, Mary E. Christmas of Newcomerstown, Ohio, and Jackie Overton and Judy Mattingly, both of Mount Vernon; three sons, Gary G. and Bobby W., both of Mount Vernon and Billy R. of Wadesville; 19 grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Velma (Anderson), died in 1992.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home Mount Vernon Chapel, with burial in Bellefontaine cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post 5.

Joseph Prechtel
SCHNELLVILLE, Ind. — Joseph F. Prechtel, 87, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Deaconess St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg.
He retired from the Dubois County Highway department and had previously worked for the state highway department.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Anthony American legion Post 493, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673, Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Senior Citizens and the Schnellville Conservation and Community Club.
Surviving are his wife, Veronica (Knust); and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, with burial in the church cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. EST today at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or St. Vincent De Paul Society.
Virginia Mitchell
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Virginia R. Mitchell, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at Camelot Care Nursing Home in Redlands, Calif.
She was a member of the Chandler United Methodist Church.
She was a 1933 graduate of Newburgh High School.
She was a member of Acme Rebekah Lodge in Candler and Eastern Star in Warsaw, Ind.
Surviving are a son, Glenn M. of Redlands, ; three grandchildren, Jeff and Jon Mitchell and Julianne Bruce; and five great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 50 years, Glenn M. Sr., died in 1984.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chandler United Methodist Church, with burial in Center cemetery near Chandler.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the church. Koehler Funeral Home Perigo Chapel is handling arrangements.

Carmen Hudson
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Carmen J. Hudson, 27, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
The cause of death is pending autopsy results.
She was a paralegal for Phillips & Phillips Law Firm in Boonville.
She was a graduate of Ivy Tech State College and a member of St. Clement Catholic Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Kelsey Fortune at home; her parents, Don and Pat Hudson of Boonville; three brothers, Don Hudson Jr. of Newburgh, Rodney and Michael Hudson, both of Evansville; her grandmother, Elsie Vowels; and her companion, Ben Fortune.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Bradley Colonial Chapel continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Boonville, with burial in St. John’s cemetery in Elberfeld.
