Kathleen Marshall
Kathleen M. Marshall, 59, of Evansville, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Holiday Health Care of cancer.
She had worked for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. at Howard Roosa School.
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Quilting Club.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Charles; two sons, Carl of Sarasota, Fla., and Mark of Evansville; five sisters, Claire Mull, Georganne Amos, Mary Antey and Jeannette Cook, all of Evansville, and Eula Seibert of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Eugene and Richard Nurrenbern, both of Evansville, Leroy Nurrenbern of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Wayne Nurrenbern of San Diego; and a grandson, Cole A. Marshall.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, continuing at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Rev. Jim Blessinger officiating, with entombment in St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Bertha Hurd
Bertha L. (Somers) Hurd, 96, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Highland Pointe.
She was an Avon representative.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt, Ind.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois Kahre of Darmstadt; three sons, Walter A. Somers of Haubstadt, Ind., Tom Somers of Evansville and Bud Somers of Odon, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, Linda Jones, Mark, John, Brian and Todd Somers, Steve and Jeff Kahre, Ruth Ann Borst, Nancy Knight and Jeannie Plock; nine great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter P Somers, in 1975, and by her second husband, Maurice Hurd, in 1997.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Darmstadt, the Rev. Martin Keller officiating, with burial in Bethsaida cemetery in Stewartsville, Ind.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel and from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the church.

John Draper
John B. Draper, 82, of Evansville, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Home.
He was a 50-year member of East Side Christian Church, where he was an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher and chairman of church committees.
He was a past board member of the Salvation Army and Junior Achievement.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Mary Beth; two daughters, Carolyn Draper of Evansville and Jane Goodin of Indianapolis; a sister, Helen Foster of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Matthew, John and Daniel Goodin; and a niece.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. James Bisch officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park.

Eloise Buttrum
Eloise “Irene” (Parker) Buttrum, 93, of Evansville, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital.
She had worked at General Cigar Factory for 30 years, Schear’s Department Store for 15 years and retired from Schultz Department Store after 12 years.
She was a member of New Bethel Southern Baptist Church, American Legion Funkhouser Post 8 and was past president of the World War I Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances Settle of Evansville and Helen Kinney of Florida; two brothers, John W. Parker of Florida and Paul Parker of St. Louis; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Allen C., died in 1970.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Gerald Peeples officiating, with burial in Locust Hill cemetery.

Imogene Eaton
Imogene J. “Sis” (Schenk) Eaton, 76, of Evansville, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at her home of cancer.
She worked at Shanes Manufacturing for 34 years and News America Marketing.
She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, where she was a lay leader for the weekly ministry to shut-ins.
She was also a member of the AARP Northside Chapter, Veterans of Foreign Wars 1114 Ladies Auxiliary and Indiana Farm Bureau.
Surviving are a sister, Bea Myers of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, James V., died in 1986.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Everett Freels officiating, with burial in Tupman cemetery.

Leroy Marshall
BOONVILLE, Ind. — Leroy Marshall, 78, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at his home.
He was a self-employed bricklayer.
He was a World War II and Korean Navy veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Marshall of Boonville and Roxie Mayer of Newburgh; a son, Michael of Boonville; a sister, Ann Marshall of Selvin; a brother, Ralph of Selvin; five grandchildren, Michael Marshall, April and Cynthia Mayer, Melinda Cote and Jamie Eucker; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Wanda Lee, died in 1997.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bradley’s Colonial Chapel in Boonville, with burial in Maple Grove cemetery.

Christine Elliott
VINCENNES, Ind. — Christine A. Elliott, 92, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Regina Continuing Care in Evansville.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Knights of St. John auxiliaries, St. Anne Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. She also served as vice precinct committeewoman for the Democratic Party.
Surviving are three daughters, Nadine Coudret and Diane Hill, both of Evansville, and Joan Parker of Chandler; two sons, Jerbert of Aurora, Colo., and James of Boulder, Colo.; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Her husband, Carl, died in 1959.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer vigil at 4 p.m., at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home.

Elsie Dassel
ELBERFELD, Ind. — Elsie (Weisheit) Dassel, 91, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at the Protestant Home in Evansville.
She was a school teacher in Gibson County for 30 years, taught elementary and junior high school for 18 years and in a one-room school in Mackie for three years.
She was a life member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Buckskin, Eastern Star 455 of Fort Branch and the Women’s Guild.
Surviving are nephews.
Her husband of 36 years, Clarence, died in 1984.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Simpson Volkman Funeral Home, with burial in Tabor cemetery.

Donald Gartner
Donald J. Gartner, 74, of Evansville, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, on Seminary Road in an automobile accident.
He retired from the Vanderburgh County Highway Department and was a retired Union Township farmer.
He was a member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Cleta (Robinson); a daughter, Donna Joergens of Evansville; a son, Dennis of Evansville; a sister, Joann Wilson of New Harmony, Ind.; a brother, Albert of Evansville; and two grandchildren, Dana Miller Dietsch and David Gartner.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Mike Stoelting officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
