Robert Street
VINCENNES, Ind. — Robert W. “Bob” Street, 65, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at his home of cancer.
He was self-employed as a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Kelli Roberts of Vincennes and Pam Chesser of Terre Haute; two sons, Chip and Rick, both of Vincennes; his stepfather, Tom Gleason of Vincennes; four sisters, Donna Coomer, Mary McKinley, Jean Sanneman and Carol Eubank, all of Vincennes; a brother, James of Vincennes; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Remus Schuler
JASPER, Ind. — Remus O. Schuler, 80, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Huntingburg Convalescent Center in Huntingburg.
He had owned and operated Schuler Welding & Repair Co. in Jasper.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the church’s Men’s Society, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars 673, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 147 and the Antique Steam & Gas Engine Club Inc. of Boonville.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Cheryl Wilmes of Ferdinand and Janet Lechner of Jasper; four sons, David and Kenneth, both of Jasper, Reginald of Chandler and James of Ireland; six sisters, Venita Fleck, Dora Bickwermert, Arlene Semersheim and Lou Anna Schuler, all of Jasper, Leola Heeke of Dubois and Julie Kunkler of St. Anthony; two brothers, Thomas of Jasper and Lloyd of Concord, Calif.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., at Becher & Kluesner Funeral Home Downtown Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
Wilma Ellis
Wilma Lee Ellis, 84, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at McCurdy Healthcare Center.
She had retired from restaurant and retail sales. She had owned and operated Wilma’s Restaurant during World War II.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are a sister, Tonci Thweatt of Evansville; and nieces and nephews, including nephew Gene Thweatt of Evansville, who cared for her.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Oak Hill cemetery, the Rev. Stephen P. Lintzenich officiating.

Samuel Stansbury Jr.
TELL CITY, Ind. — Samuel “Archie” Stansbury Jr., 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky., during heart surgery.
He retired in 1984 from General Electric in Tell City after 39 years of service. He was an officer in the IUE-AFL-CIO Local 805 from 1946 until his retirement in 1984, serving as president in 1952. He was involved in the 805 Building Corporation of Indiana.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of the National Organization of Ex-Prisoners of War and its Southern Indiana Chapter.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 2939, American Legion Post 213 and Disabled American Veterans local chapter 85. He also bowled in local leagues.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Judy (Fowler); two daughters, Faye Sweet and Cindy Wilbur, both of Tell City; a son, Glenn Phelps of Indianapolis; a brother, Dr. William Stansbury of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Chip Wilbur, Missy Hagman, Julie Chaffin, Kelley Birchler, Theresa Simpson, Emily Phelps, Ellie Smith, Leslie Featherstone and John Speidel; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kaye Speidel.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood cemetery, with military rites.

Bobby Walker
MARIAH HILL, Ind. — Bobby Walker, 56, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Deaconess-St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg of heart complications.
He had worked at Lake Rudolph as a security guard since 1985.
Surviving are his wife, Jenny (McGowen); a daughter, Shannon Walker, at home; and his mother, Bonnie Johnson of Corsicona, Texas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fuller Funeral Home in Dale.

Agnes Colbert
ELBERFELD, Ind. — Agnes “Aggie” Colbert, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Sue Dormeier of Evansville.
She had owned and operated Colbert’s Cafe in Elberfeld.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and a life member and the first president of Elberfeld American Legion Auxiliary 351.
Also surviving are a son, Dewey Bill of Evansville; a sister, Janie Oeth of Elberfeld; four grandsons, Chip and Jeff Dormeier and John and Mike Colbert; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a friend, George Whalen, who also helped care for her.
Her husband, Dewey, died in 1973.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion United Church of Christ, with burial in Zion cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel and from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

Billy Kimmel
VINCENNES, Ind. — Billy B. Kimmel, 61, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital of cancer.
He had retired from Aramark Uniform Services after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Central Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 1, the Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine Temple, past president of the Knox County Shrine Club, past officer of the Bruceville Rod and Gun Club and active with Relay for Life.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Marlene (Cates); three sisters, Frances Brown of Evansville and Norma Meyer and Ella Mae Boyd, both of Vincennes; a brother, Jack of Indianapolis; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gardner and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery in Vincennes.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life.
William Thomas
WASHINGTON, Ind. — William “Bill” Thomas, 67, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at his home.
He had worked as a general contractor and realtor.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and was Past Master of Charity Masonic Lodge 30.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Margie; three daughters, Paula Potts, Julia O’Brian and Carol Southerland, all of Washington; a son, Michael of Yorkville, Ill.; a half brother, James Conrad of Washington; and nine grandchildren, Garrett and Aimee Thomas, Jonathan and Patrick Potts, Sarah and Samuel Southerland and Olivia, Anna and Megan O’Brian.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Sugarland Memory Garden.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Infant Steven Leffler Jr.
VINCENNES, Ind. — Steven Lee Leffler Jr., infant son of Steven L. Sr. and Natalie (Pfoff) Leffler, was stillborn Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Also surviving are a sister, Lacey Leffler, at home; three brothers, John, Jayce and Ty, all at home; and his grandparents, Jim and Margaret Pfoff and Anita Leffler.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park cemetery in Vincennes.
There will be no visitation at Brockman & Son Funeral Home.
Lanoa Taylor
Lanoa E. Taylor, 89, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
During the ’50s, she worked as a cook at Deaconess Hospital.
She taught Sunday school, was a group captain in the Missionary Society, worked with the girls and boys missionary auxiliary. She was a member of the Evergreens at Grace Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Lodge 87.
Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Pressley of Newburgh and Carolyn Sue Durbin of McCutchanville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Hollos, died in 1981 and a son, Kenneth, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Simpson Funeral Home Newburgh Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park.
