Elmer Williams
Elmer Louis Williams, 62, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of complications of diabetes.
He retired from Peabody Coal Co.’s Lynnville Mine after 20 years and was a member of Local 9926.
He was an Army veteran.
He was a deacon, trustee and superintendent of Sunday school at the Mount Liberty Baptist Church in Boonville.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Ann and Lori Rena Williams, both of Evansville; a son, Jason Louis of Evansville; his mother, Dorothy Williams of Evansville; three sisters, Christine Love of Racine, Wis., and Kathy Chaney and Yvonne Mockobee, both of Evansville; three brothers, Albert and Richard, both of Evansville, and Charles of Racine; and a grandchild, Jo Anna Rena Shane.
His wife, JoAnn (Payne), died in 1997.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Liberty Baptist Church, the Revs. Carl Walker and Larry K. Payne officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Retired Veterans Memorial Club.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
John Merta
John E. Merta, 69, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of respiratory failure.
He had owned and operated the Rosedale Market for 20 years.
He was a Korean War veteran and member of the American Legion Eugene Pate Post 265.
He was a member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his daughter, Lynn Kemp of Corydon, Ky.; a sister, Joyce Bateman of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
His wife, Marilyn, died in 1995.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Alexander Memorial Park, the Rev. Thomas F. Webster officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Larry Winstead
Larry Lee Winstead, 49, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the Murfreesboro Veterans Affairs Hospital of cancer.
He had worked as a merchant marine for several years. He also worked on riverboats and had a ship pilot’s license.
Surviving are a daughter, Katherine R. Nussbaum of Hawaii; his parents, Robert K. and Elsie A. Winstead of Evansville; a brother, Charles E. of Boonville; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel.

Janet McGraw
Janet Kathryn McGraw, 60, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at her home of cancer.
She had worked at Marshall’s for 13 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Sara Hinsey of Evansville; a son, Michael W. of Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Alvina Hall of Evansville and Joyce Kingsbury of Lynnville, Ind.; a brother, Gary Vaal of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren, Derek, Renee and Jeffrey Hinsey.
Her husband, Richard G., died in 1998.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Rev. William M. Schwenk officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, and from 9:30 to service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care.
J. Elizabeth Foster
J. Elizabeth Foster, 19, of Evansville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in an automobile accident in Indianapolis.
She was a runway and hand model for Manhattan Modeling in Indianapolis and had worked as a model in California. She appeared on several television commercials, in the movie “Kindergarten Cop” and in a film that was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.
She was a regional champion roller skater in Orange County, Calif., and recently a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Head Start.
Surviving are her mother, Nan Foster of Evansville; her father, Charles Foster; a sister, Jessica Foster of Evansville; a brother, Michael Foster of Fullerton, Calif.; and her fiance, Rich Garmen of Indianapolis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Bishops Mark Lamers and Jorge Reyes officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

Edward Cooper
Edward E. “Kakie” Cooper, 45, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Plainfield, Ind., of cancer.
He was a laborer in construction.
He was a member of the Line Street Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Pamela; a daughter, Lacriska L. Cooper of Evansville; two sons, Edward Jr. and Brandon, both of Evansville; his parents, Fred and Percy Cooper of Evansville; four sisters, Delores and Torwanna Cooper, Gloria Scott and Kathleen, all of Evansville; six brothers, Fred Jr., A.C., Lewis, Carl and Mark, all of Evansville, and Rogar of Champaign, Ill.; and three grandchildren, TreViana Walder, Tyvan Landours and E’devon Dixon.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Line Street Church of Christ, the Rev. J. Lee officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mary Price
Mary Helen (McDaniel) Price, 76, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at her home.
She retired in 1987 from Sears Roebuck Co., after more than 30 years in the credit department.
She was a member and past queen of the Daughters of the Nile, Iris Temple 41.
Surviving are a son, D. Keith of Norcross, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Purviance of Chrisney, Ind. and Lela Gore of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Paul McDaniel of Boonville, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Lester, died in 1988.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Ted Tempel officiating, with burial in Midway cemetery in Spencer County.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Harold Harmon
Harold Keith Harmon, 83, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
He retired as traffic manager from A&H; Truck Lines and was a member of the Evansville Traffic Club.
He was a member and lay minister of the Folsomville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Sue Hopkins of Cottonwood, Ariz., Martyene K. Nicholson of Ninevah, Ind., and Marlyene R. Seller of Avon, Ind.; a son, James A. of Brunswick, Ohio; a sister, Reva Rae Webster of Madison, Ind.; a brother, Wayne of Carrollton, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his companion, Eileen Harmon of Evansville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Janice Y. Akers-Du Bois officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.

Bessie Powers
POSEYVILLE, Ind. — Bessie I. Powers, 95, formerly of Poseyville, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis.
She had been a clerk at Hirsch’s Department Store in dry goods for more than 30 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Black River Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Carroll of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Roy, and two sons, Robert and Lowell, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Werry Funeral Home, with burial in Poseyville cemetery.
