Loran Shelton
Loran A. Shelton, 97, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at St. Mary’s Health Care Services/Welborn Campus.
He worked at Faultless Caster for 53 years as a tool and die set-up man.
He was a member of Terrace Park General Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, sang in the choir for 25 years and helped with maintenance, repairs and groundskeeping along with his late brother, Earl.
He was an amateur artist and enjoyed gardening, yard sales and antique dish and coin collecting.
Surviving are nieces and nephews; and his companion and caretaker, Sarah W. Bess of Evansville.
His wife, Verna (Cohoon), died in 1981.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Revs. Gaylon Price and Etshel Hillhouse officiating, with burial in Park Lawn cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
Elnora Bunch
Elnora (Schonabaum) Bunch of Evansville, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
She was a member of Crossroads Community Baptist Church.
She had worked for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corp. and for nurseries of several local bowling centers.
Surviving are her husband, John F.; a daughter, Evelyn Foster of West Frankfort, Ill.; three sons, Wayne and Larry Schonabaum, both of Evansville, and Jerry Schonabaum of Orange, Calif.; a sister, Elberta Baehl of Evansville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Tim Smith officiating, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Charles Haury
Charles “Chuck” Haury, 72, of Newburgh, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at his home.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He had worked at Spartan Printing in Sparta, Ill., and he retired from the Evansville Courier & Press.
He was a member of Printing Pressman’s Local 117 and Cursillo 14.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Maxine L (Gremmels); a daughter, Gayla Vittitow of Owensboro, Ky.; three sons, Terry of Denver, Donald of Newburgh and Patrick of Evansville; two sisters, Opal House of DuQuoin, Ill., and Mercy Gillenburg of Murphysboro, Ill.; three brothers, Edward and Frank, both of Sparta, and William of Murphysboro; and five grandchildren, Tee and Nicki Vittitow and Jessica, Charlie and Louie Haury.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, the Rev. Philip Spomer officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel and from 11 a.m. to service time at the church.

Virginia Goyer
BICKNELL, Ind. — Virginia Mae Goyer, 78, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She retired in 1985 from the housekeeping department of Good Samaritan Hospital.
She attended Word of Life Church and was a member of Bicknell Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly A. Goyer of Vincennes and Debbie (Goyer) Albertson of Plainville; a sister, Norma Wetzel of Parker, Colo.; five granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Word of Life Church, with burial in Asbury Chapel cemetery in Ragsdale.

Raymond Metcalf
TENNYSON, Ind. — Raymond J. Metcalf, 80, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at St. Mary’s Warrick Hospital in Boonville.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and on the finance committee. He was also a member of Boonville Elks 1180, Knights of Columbus Boonville Council 10257, Warrick County Farm Bureau, Cattleman’s Association, Indiana Pork Producers and Purdue Greener Pastures Association.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Helen; two daughters, Judy Ashley of Boonville and Janice Fuchs of Evansville; two sisters, Helen Entrican and Lucille Martin, both of Louisville; a brother, Louis of Evansville; four grandchildren, Kellie Nicholson, Jason Ashley, Lora Hines and Staci Goller; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:45 a.m. Monday at Bradley Colonial Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery in Evansville.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

James Greenfield
James W. “Bill” Greenfield, 78, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his home of cancer.
He was Baptist. He retired as a switchman from the L&N; and CSX railroads, after more than 30 years, in 1982 and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
He was a World War II Army veteran, the recipient of five Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Victory Medal and Bronze Arrowhead and member of American Legion and life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Annabelle (Reed); a daughter, Donnella A. Hall of Evansville; three sons, William R. of San Antonio, Timothy V. and Mark A., both of Evansville; a sister, Dorothy Blueberg of Ocala, Fla.; six grandchildren, Derek, Keith, Seth and Timothy Greenfield, Kelly Davis, and Harry W. Clark III; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Rick L. Dimmett Sr. officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, with military rites.

Steven Cowan
Steven Ray Cowan, 54, of Newburgh, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at his home of cancer.
He worked for the Cherokee Windows
and Siding Co.
He was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, serving as a petty officer on the USS Greenlet and served in the Evansville Naval Reserve.
He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Fran; two sons, Gregg and Michael, both of Newburgh; his mother, Cleo Cowan of Evansville; a sister, Sue Dearmond of Evansville; and two brothers, Douglas of Stow, Ohio and John of Nashville, Tenn.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, continuing at 10 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, the Rev. Henry Kuykendall officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana University Medical Center Liver Transplant Program or the Ronald McDonald House.
Patricia Stewart
Patricia Ruth Stewart, 65, of Evansville, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999, at her home of heart failure.
She had worked for Soleus Health Care.
She had attended Mater Dei High School.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Batteiger of Evansville; a son, Mike Reed of Evansville; two sisters, Janice Holder of Lynnville and Donna J. Ferguson of Evansville; three grandchildren, Stacey and Scott Reed and Byron Batteiger.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Browning Funeral Home, the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating, with burial in St. Joseph cemetery.

Richard Hallett
Richard William Hallett, 82, of Evansville, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, at Deaconess Hospital.
He was past master of Niagara Frontier Lodge 132 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., member of Eastern Star 183 in Marion, Iowa, Theta XI Fraternity, and was a volunteer at the Madison State Hospital.
He was past deacon and treasurer of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls.
Surviving are two daughters, Anne H. of Coal Valley, Ill., and Barbara H. of Evansville; two sisters, Erma Jaeckle and Marian Lancaster, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Christopher James and Christiane Michael.
His wife, Christine J., died in 1974.
Private services were held at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, the Rev. James T. Heady officiated, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Marion County State Hospital.
Mildred Cox
Mildred E. “Sis” Cox, 92, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at the McCurdy Healthcare Center.
She was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Reinert of Stockton, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law who cared for her, Darrell and Betty Jones of Evansville; a sister, Avenelle Brinkley of Franklin, Ind.; nine grandchildren, James, John, Kelly and David Farrel, Rick, Mike and Candy Jones, Sherri Musgrave and Kathy Moss; great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Homer Douglas, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel, the Rev. Mike Allen officiating, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park.
