VERNON R. BROOKING, 93, of Warren, formerly of Majenica, died Wednesday at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Born in Huntington County, he was an assistant to Mayor Zach Dungan in the 1930s and then worked for Majestic Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1974 after 25 years as director of purchasing. He was president of Fort Wayne Association of Purchasing Agents, director of National Association of Purchasing Agents, vice president of Huntington Chamber of Commerce, president of Huntington County Industrial Management Council, national president of Industrial Management Council, president of Huntington Downtown Kiwanis Club, lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Indiana District, past master of the Mount Etna Masonic Lodge and was chapter chairman of the American Red Cross and served on the board of directors of both the East and Midwest regions. His wife, Hilda, died in 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Sunderman of Huntington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

NADINE TODD, 93, died Wednesday at Oak Leaf Village, Ligonier. Born in Noble County, she was a registered nurse and homemaker. Her husband, John, died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Channing Todd of Union, Mich.; two grandchildren, John M. Todd and Lucia Noel McLaughlin; a step-grandchild, Tara Leisie; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
