ARDEN M. YOUNG, 71, died Thursday at home. Born in New Hope, W.Va., he retired in 1986 as a traffic manager from General Motors after 35 years, having worked in Hamilton, Ohio; Marion; Syracuse, N.Y.; and Elyria, Ohio. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen M.; two daughters, Sherri Donaldson of Huntington and Marilyn Bobo of Marion; a son, Earl R. Bailey of Adrian, Mich.; two brothers, Melvin Brown of Hominy Falls, W.Va., and Arlen Young of Middletown, Ohio; three sisters, Loretta Bailey and Betty Hostetler, both of Hamilton, Ohio, and Norma Beckett of Florence, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Sandy Charles Bailey. Services at5 p.m. Sunday at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington, with calling four hours before services. Burial at a later date. ALAN "A.J." HAAS, 40, died Thursday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Coldwater, Mich., he was an electrical technician for United Technologies in Huntington and NUCOR Fasteners. HARRY K. SWING, 71, died Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Whitley County, he retired in 1986 as a chief master sergeant of the Indiana Air National Guard after 38 years and had also worked at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Eric Stone in Huntington and Hoppe Oil Co. in Huntington. He was a bus driver for Huntington County Community School Corp. and a caretaker of Gemmer Field for nine years. He managed Majestic Youth Baseball Team for 16 years and was a referee for high school football, basketball and baseball games. He was past patron of Order of the Eastern Star, Floral Chapter 75, past worshipful master of Amity Lodge 483 of Free and Accepted Masons, past commander of Huntington Commandery 35, Knights Templar, past high priest of Huntington Chapter 27, Royal Arch Masons, and past Illustrious Master of Huntington Council 51 of the Royal and Select Masters. Surviving are his wife, Janet Sue; a son, Mark of Huntington; a daughter, Charlotte Coble of Huntington; two brothers, Ed of Lebanon and Dick of South Whitley; four sisters, Cynthia Young of Converse, Geraldine Cobbs of Upland, Donna Belle Gillam of Roanoke and Aladean Weaver of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
