Born in Hartford City, he retired in 1990 from St. Joe Paper Co. in Hartford City after 44 years and had been a Blackford County farmer. Surviving are his wife, Joan; a daughter, Linda Sue Friermood of Hartford City; a brother, Melvin L. of Hartford City; two sisters, Julia A. Ogle of Hartford City and Inis Mae Price of Dunkirk; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Keplinger Funeral Home, Hartford City, with calling two hours before services. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. VELMA STROHL, 100, of Hartford City, formerly of Portland, died Thursday at Blackford County Hospital, Hartford City. Born in Portland, she was a homemaker. Her husband, James Pervis Strohl, died in 1940, daughter, Alice Faye Strohl, in 1931 and son, James P., in 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Martha Kemp of Hartford City; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Strohl of Portland; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Kendallville

JOSEPH N. LIGMAN, 79, died Thursday at home. Born in Beloit, Wis., he owned and operated several businesses in Kendallville, including Custom Molding Fiberglass and KV Molded Products, and was co-owner of K&L; Stamping. He was a World War II and Korean War Marine Corps veteran. His first wife, Lois S., died in 1967. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; two sons, David of Bedford and Richard of Lapel; two daughters, Karen Jordan of LaOtto and Lois White of Kendallville; two stepsons, Gary Strater and Craig Strater, both of Kendallville; a brother, Paul of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Services at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville. Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

LaOtto

LEE R. McDUFFEE, 94, of Dunedin, Fla., formerly of LaOtto, died Dec. 6 in Aiken, S.C. He was a retired professional auctioneer and a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Laura Jane; two daughters, Clara Ann Yarian of Aiken and Carolyn Pequignot of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte McDuffee. Memorial services were held at Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Aiken. Memorials to Shriner's Children's Hospital, 950 W. South Whitley

WAYNE H. MACY, 88, died Wednesday at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. Born in Westfield, he worked at the Naval Ordinance during World War II and then owned and operated a gas station, ran a bread route for Omar Bread Co. and later was a milk man for Roberts Dairy. He was an insurance agent for Prudential for 20 years and a tool maker for Fox Products in South Whitley for 20 years. His wife, Marieta L., died in 1987. Surviving are three sons, J. Jerry of Blairesville, Ga., John R. of Elbert, Colo., and Jack A. of South Whitley; a daughter, Jean E. Kistler of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Victor of Westfield. Services at 1 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Graveside services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Cicero cemetery.

HELEN L. IDLE BAKEHORN, 80, died Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Grant County, she retired in 1983 as a GTE long- distance operator after 26 1/2 years and was past president of American Legion Auxiliary in Wabash. Her first husband, Kenneth Idle, died in 1976 and second husband, LeRoy Bakehorn, in 1992. Surviving are two sons, John C. Idle of Las Vegas and David L. Idle of Wabash; four stepsons, LeRoy Bakehorn Jr. of Greencastle, James Bakehorn of Fort Wayne, John Bakehorn of Wabash and Thomas Bakehorn of Florida; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Bakehorn of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Cochern of Marion and Jon Haag and Nancy Watkins, both of Wabash. Services at 10 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, Edding-field Chapel, Wabash. Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial in Memorial Lawns cemetery, Wabash. HARRIET "PAT" MOSELEY, 89, died Wednesday at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Warsaw. Born in Detroit, she was a real estate and property manager, retiring in 1974. She was tribal elder for Sault Nation Chippewa Tribe in Michigan. Her husband, Melvin, died in 1997. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Swords of Lakeport, Mich., Barbara Barrett-Martinez of Warsaw and Judith Cats of Vancouver, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Harriet Hopkins of Michigan; a brother, Frances Delos Ramsey of Indian River, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son.
