Born in South Whitley, he had worked at Gripe Nut Co. in South Whitley, Nickle Plate Railroad and retired in 1982 from Norfolk Southern Railroad in signal maintenance after 41 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Florence A.; two sons, Landry L. of Columbia City and Jerry J. of Lansing, Kan.; and four grandchildren.
