Born in Huntington County, he was a lifelong Huntington County farmer in Lancaster, Warren and Polk townships and had worked at John Reed Tractor in Huntington for 20 years. His wife, Pauline K., died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Larry D. of Huntington; a daughter, Linda Pfister of Munster; a sister, Marjorie Cook of Huntington; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. GLEN J. GRATE, 84, died Friday at home. Born in Steuben County, he retired in 1980 from Newman Foundry in Kendallville as supervisor and was a World War II Army veteran. His first wife, Bonnabelle, died in 1978. Surviving are his wife, Betty J.; two stepsons, Earl Vining of Bozeman, Mont., and Clairdon Strater of Garrett; five stepdaughters, Sally Hicks, Carol Henry, Barbara Mortimore and Carolyn Terry, all of Kendallville, and Lenore Baird of LaGrange; a sister, Wilma Treesh of Auburn; a brother, George of Kendallville; 22 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
