Carl G. Whetsel Sr.
ANDERSON Carl G. Whetsel Sr., 79, Anderson, passed away Aug. 1, 2008, at his residence.
He was born May 27, 1929, to George Whetsel Sr. and Viola Whetsel.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving a tour of duty in Japan.
He worked for Delco Remy for 36 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Aeohla (Berkebile) Whetsel of Anderson; three daughters, Vicki L. Way of Naples, Fla., Judi M. Miller of Naples, Fla. and Darla Astrop of Anderson; three sons, Carl G. Whetsel Jr. of Oklahoma City, Okla., Richard Fetty of Frankton and Dan Fetty of Anderson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Eileen Justice of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren; brothers, Ed Whetsel and George Whetsel Jr. and sisters, Mary Stevens and Vivian Stevens.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home in Anderson, with the Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 266.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Charles B. Mason
KISSIMMEE, Fla. Charles Bernard Mason, 68, Pinto Drive, Kissimmee, Fla., and formerly of Elwood, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at Florida Hospital Celebration in Celebration, Fla.
He was born in Elwood and moved to Kissimmee in 1985.
He was a retired machinist with more than 35 years at Airfoil Textron in Elwood and was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Melba Mason; sons, Harold D. Mason and Rodney W. Mason; brothers, Richard Mason, William Mason and George Mason.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Jay Mason; his mother, Sybil Irene (Dutton) Mason; and sisters, Mary J. Flynn and Dorothy Tinchner and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Kissimmee. Burial will follow in Osceola Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Beulah Mae Johnson
SHARPSVILLE Beulah Mae Johnson, 92, Sharpsville, died at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.
Born Sept. 29, 1915 in Windfall, she was the daughter of Jesse W. and Martha M. (Copp) Henry. On Jan. 14, 1933 in Tipton County, she married Le Roy H. Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She lived most of her life in the Sharpsville area. She was a member of Windfall Church of the Brethren and was very active in all church activities. She enjoyed her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith A. Smith of Sharpsville; three granddaughters, Marletta A. and husband Billy W. Roberts of Kokomo, Marsha A. and husband Jim Adler of Sharpsville and Marchele M. and husband Shane C. Taylor of Kokomo; one grandson, Mark E. Cardwell of Middleville, Mich. and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Windfall Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Joe Coffin and the Rev. Arley Mitcham will officiate. Burial will be at Brookside Cemetery
in Windfall.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Boyer Funeral Home in Sharpsville.
Lois A. Flatford
ALEXANDRIA Lois A. Flatford, 73, Alexandria, died Aug. 7, 2008 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 2, 1934 in Leona Mines, Va., the daughter of Donald and Carrie (Benfield) Hughes.
She had been employed at the former Amicks Truck Stop and the Hi-Way Cafe in Alexandria for 15 years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Chapel in Alexandria.
Survivors include five sons, Frank Clark, Fowlerton, Dan Clark, Jeffery Clark, Kenneth Clark and Joe Clark, all of Alexandria; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Hughes, Meeker, Colo. and Paul Hughes, Anderson; five sisters, Hannah Sutton, Dayton, Ohio, Mary Cook, Alexandria, Eileen Hughes, Knoxville, Tenn., Avis Allen and Louise Short, Pennington Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Carrie Hughes; three brothers, Donald B. Hughes Jr., Ellis Hughes and Carl Hughes; a great-grandson; a nephew; and two nieces.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at the Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria, with Pastor Harrison Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Chapel Building Fund through the funeral home.
White Johnson
White Johnson, 77, Tipton, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Born July 27, 1931 in Gibson Station, Va., he was the son of William Henry and Dora (Pace) Johnson.
He was the owner of Hoosier Pete Filling Station in Tipton for more than 10 years. He then worked at Burco Molding Company in Noblesville where he retired as a shift supervisor.He also was a farmer. He was a member of Mid-America Threshers Association and Hoosier Heartlanders Camping Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and telling stories that made people laugh.
He was a kind, gentle, loving man and will be greatly missed by his family, which includes his wife, Naomi Pearl (Schildmeier) Johnson; his sons, Dean Weaver and Gary and wife Michelle Johnson, all of Tipton; his daughters, Lucille and husband Benny Brooks, Barbara and husband Tommy Mitchell and Gwen and husband Rick Brooks, all of Harrogate, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Rachel Barnard, Billy, Randy and Kay Brooks, Andrea and Kevin Payn, Robert and Kristine Weaver, Eroica, Nikita, Alexandra and Chandler Johnson; five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Gladys Daniels of Tazwell, Tenn. and Christine Hawk of Springfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Johnson, and a sister, Evelyn Lackey.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Homes Arcadia Chapel. The Rev. Joe Olson will officiate.Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Wilson C. Eden
FRANKTON Wilson C. Eden, 65, Frankton, died Thursday at his home.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Noffze Funeral Home in Alexandria.
Barry Kevin Wilkinson
OAKFORD Barry Kevin Wilkinson, 41, Oakford, died at 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008 in Clinton County, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born Sept. 28, 1966 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Duane Charles Wilkinson and Barbara (Stamper), who survives.
He was a graduate of Tri High School in Lewisville. On June 29, 1986 in Cicero, he married Lori Anne Trout. She also survives.
He was employed with Allied Waste of Lafayette for more than 20 years, which services Republic, Rumpke, Wabash Valley and Key Waste of Culver.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, loved the outdoors and the wind of the motorcycle; was an avid mechanic with newfound, lifelong, long-life friend Scott Williamson. He was a push truck driver for sprint cars at the Kokomo Speedway on Sunday nights,. He was also a volunteer fireman on the Wildkat Township Volunteer Fire Department in Windfall for more than 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Anne Wilkinson of Oakford; one son, Kevin Andrew Wilkinson and companion Rachel Ullman of Frankfort; two daughters, Marissa Danielle Wilkinson and companion Noah Langley of Kokomo and Jillianne Marie Wilkinson of Oakford; his mother, Barbara Mayes of Anderson; one brother, Warren and wife Deena Wilkinson of Lewisville; two sisters, Monica and husband Brian Windle of Anderson, Michelle and husband Jason Simpson of North Carolina; one grandchild, Atticus Ullman of Frankfort; three godchildren, Aden Gunning, 3, of Kokomo, Ohanzee Green, 2, of Oakford, and Athalia Garland, 1, of Oakford, along with many adopted children along the way; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., Kokomo. The Rev. Andrew D. Green will officiate. Cremation will follow.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be directed to Open Arms. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.

Thomas E. Stitt, 58 of Indianapolis, formerly of Kokomo, passed away at 4:05am Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born November 22, 1950 at Travis Air Force Base in Orange Co. Cal. to James E.C. Stitt Sr. and Emogene (Foreman) Stitt. His marriage to the former Janet Burgard took place in Warrensburg, MO. on June 13, 1970.
Mr. Stitt was appointed in 1982 to the Indianapolis Police Dept. and worked Street Patrol, untill 1991 when he started working in the Narcotics Branch and remained with the Narcotics Investigation and Vice Squad until 2005. In 2005 he went back to Street Patrol, then under the Consolidation of 2007, he became involved as a member of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Dept. where he remained on Street Patrol until the time of his death. Tom had been decorated with several comindations from the Police Dept. for his work as a Police Officer.
Survivors include his wife Janet S. Stitt of Indianapolis a daughter and son-in-law Dawn and Joseph Dailey of Indianapolis, grandchildren; Kacey, Kyle and Erin all of Indianapolis, a brother and sister-in-law James and Sandi Stitt of Kokomo, sister and brother-in-law Cynthia Stitt-Ripberger and Steven of Kokomo, a sister Pamela Postulka of Kokomo another brother and sister-in-law Steven and Jill Stitt of Elkart. A brother-in-law and his wife Danny and Karen Burgard of Edmond, OK. sister-in-law and husband Carol and Jim Atkinson of VA. a brother-in-law and wife Jeff and Cheryl Burgard of Holden, MO. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and cousins whom he cherished very much.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; James and Jean Stitt, a brother David Stitt, his father-in-law Harold Burgard.
The family wishes to thank all the Doctors, nurses, and Methodist Hospital Staff, Home Health Care Staff for their professionalizm, compassion and thoughtfulness.
His service will be at 11:00am Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Ellers Mortuary Webster St. Chapel 3400 S. Webster St. Kokomo, IN. with Pastor William Allison and Chaplain Philip Bacon officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo. There will be full Police Honors and a military Detail at the Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at the Mortuary.

Carl C. Glandon, 86, Kokomo, passed away at 8:53AM Sunday, March 1, 2009 in St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 15, 1922 in Sharps Chapel, TN to the late Escoe and Lula (Nelson) Glandon. On September 25, 1948 in Knox county, TN he married Burnis (Henegar). He retired January of 1981 from Chrysler. He also served in the United States Army.
Surviving is his wife, Burnis Glandon, son, Jerry Glandon, daughters, Brenda Hall and Jaetta Mason, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Kathleen A. (Kit) Steward

Services: Will be at 1:00pm Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred McKee officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation: Will be from 4-8pm on Wednesday March 4, 2009 at Ellers Mortuary Main St. Chapel 725 S. Main St. Also there will be visiting one hour prior to the service at the church on thursday.
Kathleen A (Kit) Steward, 64, of Kokomo passed away at 7:35am Sunday March 1, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born August 23, 1944 to Thomas and Betty (Weidner) Johnston. Her marriage to Warren T. Steward who survives took place on February 1, 1960 in Caruthersville, MO. Kit worked at Milbank. She also loved dancing and cooking for her family, and especially love each of her grandchildren very much.
She is survived by her husband Warren, of Kokomo, two sons; James Patrick Steward, and Stephen Warren Steward, a daughter Janice Kathleen Nunnally and her husband Chuck, five brothers; Mike Johnston wife Faye, Paul Johnston wife Marsha, Bill Johnston, Jeff Johnston wife Shirley, and Steve Johnston; four sisters; Judy Henry, Margaret Mundy husband Sonny, Susan Oltman, Mary Abney husband Frank. five grandchildren; James Aaron, Matthew Ryan, and Stephen Thomas Steward, Ryan Matthew Mix, Kimberly Steward, and one great-grandson. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, two sisters; Helen Lock, and Nancy Johnston.
Her services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church 1300 E. Barkdol St. in Kokomo. The Rev. Fred McKee will be officiating, entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Wednesday March 4, 2009, at Ellers Mortuary Main St. Chapel 725 S. Main St. with one hour of visiting before the service at the church on Thursday.
