Born in Fort Wayne, she retired in 1982 as a nurse's aide from St. Joseph Hospital after 25 years and had been a licensed boarding mother for Catholic Charities and Allen County Welfare Department. Her first husband, Everett Franklin, died in 1979 and second husband, George Halte, in 1999. Surviving are a son, Everett L. Franklin of Fort Wayne; two stepsons, Virgil Halte of Albany, Ga., and William Halte of Arizona; a brother, Robert Koch of El Cajon, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, with calling 30 minutes before mass. Calling also from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with vigil at 5:30 p.m.

JACK D. COOK, 79, died Monday at Woodview Health Care Center. Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was a licensed professional engineer and had 27 years in industrial management at Bendix Aircraft Division in South Bend and Magnavox Corp. in Urbana, Ill., and Fort Wayne. He had also been an associate professor and program director of Industrial Engineering Technology at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, retiring in 1991 as professor emeritus of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University. He wrote several books and articles on industrial engineering and statistical quality control and had been a consultant to many corporations. He was a World War II Army veteran, receiving a Combat Infantryman's Badge and a Purple Heart. He was a chapter and national officer of the Society of American Value of Engineering and was chapter officer of Society of Manufacturing Engineers and their national representative to Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Surviving are two sons, John M. of Lake Mary, Fla., and Thomas R. of Houston; a daughter, Maureen C. Rehmer of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Gene E. of Delano, Minn., and Herbert C. of Baltimore; and five grandchildren. His wife, Anne M., died in 1992 and son, Christopher, in 1956.
