Born in Jay County, she was a secretary at Whitaker and Mills, Attorneys at Law, in Portland, a court reporter for Jay Circuit Court and a deputy prosecuting attorney. She was elected prosecuting attorney of Jay County in 1944 and practiced law until 1961. She was honored last year by Indiana Bar Association as one of the first 100 women to practice law in the state of Indiana and was past president of Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
