Michael Coleman

Michael Coleman, 47, of Terre Haute, and formerly of Clinton, died at 11:36 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 in Union Hospital of Terre Haute. He was a Rehabilitation Officer for the Rockville Training Center for 15 years. He was born July 15, 1955 in Clinton to Otis A. Coleman Jr. and Dorothy Bartley Coleman. Survivors include two sons, Matthew Coleman and Jason Coleman both of Lafayette; his mother and father both of Clinton; three sisters, Toni Day of Tennessee, Karen Hammond of Martinsville, and Abby Lindsey of Clinton; four brothers, Otey Coleman of Theyer, David Coleman, and Kenny Coleman both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Dennis Coleman of Clinton; two half-brothers, Jeffrey Coleman of Portage and J.C. Coleman of Clinton; and one half-sister, Stacey Kabbany of Clinton; and many nieces and nephews. He was a Army Veteran. Private family services will be Monday, April 21, 2003 at Frist Funeral Home. There is no visitation.

Sarah Florine Dixon

Sarah Florine Dixon, 84, of Terre Haute, formerly of Russellville died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 in Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. She retired from Houston Companies in Crawfordsville in 1989. She was born June 16, 1918 in Hazelwood, Ind. to Frank and Lissie Secrest Richard. She was preceded in death by two husbands, her first husband, Howard Pete Walters who died Aug. 17. 1957, her second husband whom she married Aug. 9, 1958 died Aug. 27, 1987. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Walters and her husband, Chuck Brossman of Terre Haute, and Anita Walters and her husband Randy Sharp of Knoxville, Tenn., Mary Catherine Dixon and her husband, Eric Anderson, of Fairland, Ind.; and one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jane Walters. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Emily Ann; one brother, Eugene Richard and one sister, Betty Hunter. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Russellville Community Church in Russellville with the Rev. Bill Neiman officiating. Burial is in Hebron cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday IN the church. Machledt and Services Funeral Home in Waveland, assisted with arrangements.

Ruth H. Graf

Ruth H. Graf, 83 of Terre Haute, died Thursday April 17, 2003 in Union Hospital. She was a retired registered nurse from Union Hospital where she was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award for MORE THAN30 years experience. She was born Mar. 17, 1920 in Terre Haute, to Albert John Femyer and Beatrice Coleman Femyer. Survivors include her husband, Hans F. Graf; one son, Fred Graf and his wife Reba of Woodstock Md.; two grandchildren, Fredrick Graf and his wife Jennifer, of Indianapolis and Julianna Kern and her husband Kraig, of Charlotte N.C.; and one great-grandchild, Maddie Kern, of N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Alice Feymer and Cecil Femyer. She was a member of the Twelve Points Chapter Eastern Star, Past Queen of Badoura of Temple No. 23, Daughters of the Nile and Knights Templer. Private family services are scheduled with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lillie Mae Hadley

Lillie Mae Hadley, of Terre Haute and formerly of Oklahoma City, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, in her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born in Oklahoma to James Collum and Clara Melton Collum. Her husband, C.A. Hadley, died March 11, 1981. Survivors include her companion, Harry Schaffer and his two sons Ed D. Schaffer and wife Martha and Shawn L. Schaffer and wife Laura, all of Terre Haute and his six grandchildren, Jessica Rose Schaffer, Jacqueline M. Schaffer, Julia Kate Schaffer, Jadin H. Schaffer, Gabriel Alexander Schaffer and Michael Orion Schaffer; one brother, Gary L. Clemmons of Oklahoma City; and one sister, Mary Kellams of Terre Haute; two nieces, Jamie L. Stofel and her husband Kerry of Lobelville, Tenn. and Dana L. Kellams of Columbia, Tenn.; one nephew, John Wesley Kellams of Terre Haute; one great-nephew, Kyle D. Smithson of Lobelville, Tenn., two great-nieces, Jessica Mangrum of Columbia, Tenn., and Erica Rae Kellams of Terre Haute. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one great-nephew, Cody Jack Smithson. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Oklahoma City Shrine. She enjoyed working with crafts, gardening and mushroom hunting. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Donna McKenzie officiating. Burial is in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Schaffer, David R. Shaffer Jr., Steven Shaffer, Bradley K. Shaffer, Ed D. Schaffer and Shawn L. Schaffer. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Monday. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Franciscan Missionary Fund, c/o St. Joseph Parish.

Cedona Kendall

Cedona Kendall, 94, of Ferguson, Mo., and formerly of Terre Haute, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Village North Retirement Community. She was a teacher for 36 years in the Jennings school district. She was born Jan. 19, 1909 in Terre Haute, to Roy and Fairy Swartz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles. Survivors include one sister, Esther Keely of Dixon, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews; and great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. She was active in the United Methodist Woman and a member of Daughters of American Revolution and St. Louis Genealogical Society. Graveside services are Noon Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday with service at 7 p.m. at White-Mullen Mortuary 118 N. Florissant Rd. Ferguson, Mo.

John Pete Ondovick

John Pete Ondovick, 78, of Terre Haute, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at his residence. He was born July 22, 1924 in Struthers, Ohio to Andrew Ondovick and Susanna Hadsurik Ondovick. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rose Ondovick; one daughter, Linda Davis; one son, Joseph Ondovick; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister and her husband, Elizabeth and John Dischiavo. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 conducting military graveside services with the Rev. Russell Zint officiating. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is noon to 1 p.m. Thursday.

C. Frank Martin

C. Frank Martin, 72, of Terre Haute, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 in Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis. He owned and operated Berry's Pest Control Company until his retirement in 1996. He was born May 30, 1930 in El Reno, Okla. to Charles Martin and Mary Frances Nighswander Martin. Survivors include his wife Betty whom he married on Aug. 18, 1956; one sister, Marilee Clarke and her husband Patrick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Charles Martin of Portland, Ore.; one sister-in-law, Patricia Ettensohn and her husband, Robert of Marco Island, Fla.; two nephews, Michael Ettensohn and his wife Janet of Ft. Wayne and Robert Ettensohn and his wife Carol of Lakeland Fla.; one niece, Erin Boling and her husband Brian of Milwaukie, Ore.; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews and members of his small church community group at Sacred Heart Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara Martin. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and was a member of the original Team Able. He was awarded the Purple Heart with leaf and achieved recognition as a Master Jumper. He was past National Commander of La Societe de Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, (the 40 & 8), past Chef of Indiana's 40 & 8, and a life member of the local Voiture 21, 40 & 8. He was a past commander of American Legion Post 104 and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6574. He also was a member of the 82nd Air Borne Association, an honorary member of the British Royal Legion and the Royal Canadian Legion. He attended the United State Military Academy and was a graduate of Indiana University. He was a member of Phi Eta Sigma Scholastic Honorary and Phi Delta Theta social fraternity and chairperson of Wandering Greeks Association. He was active in the Vigo County community, he was past president of the Terre Haute Lions Club. He was a member of the German Oberlandler Club, past chairman of the Job Service Employment Council, a member of the board of the Wabash Valley American Red Cross, and the Vietnam/Korea State Memorial Commission. He served for eight years on the Indiana Pesticide Review Board and was an honorary life member of the Indiana Pest Control Association. He received the honorary "Sagamore of the Wabash" title from Gov. Robert Orr in 1987 and also was named a Kentucky Colonel by the governor of Kentucky. He was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Terre Haute where he served as lector, communion minister and on the School Commission. He also volunteered as a reader to the younger children at the school. Pallbearers are Clarence Brink, Bill Jerse, Gary Stewart, Donald Ross, Michael Ettensohn, and Robert Ettensohn. Past officers of the American Legion and 40&8 are honorary pallbearers. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with the Rev. Russell Zint officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Callahan Funeral Home on Wabash Ave. where a brief prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 104 will provide military graveside services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus School, 1330 Lafayette Ave. Terre Haute, IN 47806 or to the Nurses Training Education Fund Voiture 21, 40&8.

Wilma Doris Keasling Parham

Wilma Doris Keasling Parham, 72, of Terre Haute, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 in her daughters residence in Terre Haute. She was a homemaker. She was born June 14, 1930 in Wiclyffe, Ky. to Ollie Humphrey and Ruby Jane Crice Humphrey. She was preceded in death by two husbands, her first husband, Ralph Lee Keasling died in 1960 and her second husband, Norman Lee Parham died in 1983. Survivors include two daughters, Jane Auler and her husband Mike of Terre Haute, and Marty Keasling of Panama City, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law Ralph Lee "Butch" and Janice Keasling of Bicknell, Bobby Lee and Barb Keasling of Brazil, and Roy Lee and Gloria Keasling of Terre Haute; and grandchildren, Brian, Travis, Bobby, Sherrie, Teresa, Christina, Amanda, Amber, Brad, Roy Jr., Brenda, Ricky, Leslie, Butch, Rhonda, and Dorian; 11 great-grandchildren; her baby doll which was her constant companion; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Clara Potts; and two brothers, John "Pud" Haynes and George Humphrey. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. There will be a graveside committal service at 4 p.m. Monday at Bruceville cemetery in Bruceville. Visitation is 11 a.m. until service time Monday in the funeral home.

Mike Simbol

Mike Simbol, 95, of Terre Haute died at 4:06 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003, in Union Hospital. He was a retired farmer. He was born Dec. 18, 1907, in Spring Valley, Ill., to George Simbol and Mary Daas Simbol. Survivors include his wife, Mary Malooley Simbol, whom he married March 21, 1940; four daughters, Nora Simbol Mike and husband Johnny of Louisville, Ky., and Esther Simbol, Nellie Simbol and Mary Ann Simbol, all of Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Curtis S. Bodine and wife Kelly of Terre Haute and Michelle Mike Nicholas and husband James of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters-in-law, Louise Grohovsky, Judy Winniski and Rose Malooley, all of Terre Haute; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and out-of-state nieces and nephews, Fouad Maalouli, Nellie Maalouli, Dr. Elias Chahine, George Chahine, Regina Chemali, Mary Chahine and Dr. Fadi Chahine. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chaim Simbol of San Paulo, Brazil; and two sisters, Zahia Chahine and Bahia Maalouli, both of Sao Paulo. He was a member and the oldest parishioner of St. George Orthodox Church, where, on Oct. 23, 1983, he was presented the Meritorious Service Award for service to his church by Archbishop Philip Saliba. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in St. George Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. Anthony Yazge of St. George Church and the Rev. Deacon Elias Corey both of Terre Haute, Very Rev. George M. Rados of Potomac, Md., Very Rev. Elias Bitar of Little Falls, N.J., and Very Rev. Alexander Atty of Louisville, Ky. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Sunday in the church, with Trisagion Prayers at 6:30 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday. Pallbearers are his nephews, Larry Grohovosky, Gary Grohovsky, Bobby Grohovsky, Eddie Malooley, Tim Malooley all of Terre Haute and Jimmy George, Mark Poulos, and Alan Poulas all of Indianapolis. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church, 1900 S. Fourth St., Terre Haute, IN 47802. DeBaun Springhill Chapel assisted with arrangements.

Philip James Stone

The Rev. Philip James Stone, 84, of Franklin, Ind., and formerly of Terre Haute and Indianapolis died Friday, April 18, 2003. He was born Jan. 28, 1919 in Clark County. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Clare Esther; one daughter, Donna Kay Mullen; two sons, Dennis Edward and John Phillip Stone; one sister, Martha J. Tupper; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was ordained into the United Brethern Church in 1945 and served South Indiana Conference of the United Methodish Church for 38 years with pastorates in Corydon, Vincennes, Terre Haute (1953-70), and Indianapolis, retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin, Ind. He was ordained Elder of the Southern Indiana Conference and served on the Board of Trustees of Indiana Central College for 25 years. Rev. and Mrs. Stone were also adoptive parents of three international students, Gena Macagba Ignacio, Nancy Goba Tucker and Dinh Nguyen. Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin.

James D. Villa

James D. Villa, 83, of Terre Haute died Saturday, April 19, 2003 in his residence. He was a retired coal miner form the Amax Coal Co. where he worked for 43 years. He was preceded in death by his wife. He was born July 2, 1919 in Clinton to John Villa and Rose Bertolino Villa. Survivors include three sons, James D. Villa Jr. of Fort Wayne, John Villa of Chicago; and Father Joseph Villa from Clinton; one daughter, Nancy Adams and her husband Steve, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Irene Dal Sasso and Ruth Ann Ferrare both of Clinton; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter, Georgia Krill. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lawton Byrum Post 972 and former member of the Blanford Sportsman Club. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Joseph Villa officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 will conduct military gravesite services. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Callahan Funeral Home.

Mark K. Wilson

Mark K. Wilson, 34, of Arvada Colo. and formerly of Terre Haute, died Monday, April 14, 2003 in his residence. He was born Oct. 3, 1968 in Terre Haute, to David Wayne Wilson and Cathelene Gilbert Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Connie Wilson; two daughters, Rena Wilson and Jessica Wilson; three sons, Brendon Wilson, Mark C. Wilson, and Dakota Wilson; his parents, Wayne and Kate Wilson; one twin sister, Marlene Snapp; two brothers, Dave Wilson and Chad Wilson; one grandmother, Mary Wilson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Wilson. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Watson cemetery with the Rev. Larry Spear officiating. DeBaun Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Mary Ellen Butler

SULLIVAN - Mary Ellen Butler, 79 of Warsaw and formerly of Sullivan died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003 in Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw. She was born Aug. 10, 1923 in Cass to Lex Usrey and Cassie Parrish Usrey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett "Tuffy" Butler who died Aug. 29, 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Nina Marie Killam, and Nicki Alsman; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and other relatives. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with the Rev. Barney LaFollette officiating. Burial is in Center Ridege cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Charles Eugene Hutchison

HYMERA - Charles Eugene Hutchison, 80 of Hymera died Thursday, April 17, 2003 in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He worked at General Motors and Scarc Industries. He was born March 17, 1923 in Bucktown to Everett Hutchison and Cora Cobb Hutchison. Survivors include his wife Wanda Hutchison; three sons, Charles Eugene "Jeff" Hutchison, Larry Hutchison, and Tony Hutchison; four sisters, Darlene Sexton, Bonnie Ball, Laquita Overshiner, and Althene Allen; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was a member of No. 662 United Auto Workers, Scarc Industries Board of Directors, and Bethel United Methodist church. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Mattox-McHugh Funeral Home in Hymera with the Revs. Tom Stapp and Norman Santus officiating. Burial is in Shiloh cemetery in Hymera. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John C. Neal

CLAY CITY - John C. Neal, 60, of Clay City died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 at his residence. He was born Mar. 19, 1943 in Brazil to John H. "Jack" and Rosalie Miller Neal. Survivors include one son, Andy Neal; one daughter, Carroll Markle and her husband Mike; two granddaughters, Kasi and Tylar Markle; his parents; and one brother, Bill Neal and his wife Joan. Services are Noon Tuesday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City. Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. till service time.
