David W. Reecer age 52 of Tipton, IN passed away at 11:20 PM on May 7, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN. He was born on March 19,1954 in Tipton, IN to David T. and Alyne (Rich) Reecer who both survive. David had been employed at BMG (RCA) in Indianapolis, IN. He is survived by two daughters, Kim Reecer of Kokomo and Courtney Reecer of Tipton along with a grandaughter Chloe Reecer of Kokomo. A sister Linda Reecer of Sharpsville also survives. Calling will be on May 10, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on May 11 at the Porter Funeral Home Tipton with Pastor Joshua Dean Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.

MARY JANE BARNETT

SEPTEMBER 18, 1927 ~ APRIL 25, 2006

Mary Jane Barnett age 79 of Kempton, IN passed away at 4:35 PM on April 25, 2006 at St. Petersburg General Hospital in Florida. She was born on September 18, 1927 in Kokomo, IN to Vern and Gladys (Maroni) Faust. Mary Jane married Myron “Barney” Barnett on February 16, 1947 and he passed away on May 5, 2001. They had just celebrated 54 years of marriage prior to Barneys death. She was a member of the Kempton Christian Church in Kempton but was also a frequent visitor at the Normanda Christian Church. Mary Jane was a housewife and homemaker. She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1945 and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Mary Jane is survived by her children, Nancy (Dave) Hill of Kempton, IN, Cathy (Larry) Miller of Indianapolis, IN and Amy (Dennis) Reeves of Indianapolis, IN along with her grandchildren, Daniel (Mary Jane) Hill, Darren (Jennifer Fearnow) Hill, Dean (Missy) Hill, Angela (Mark Mitchell) Miller, Valerie (Tony Simpson) Miller, Nicole (Brian) Renaud, Jordan O’Connell, Alex Reeves, Brady O’Connell, Ernie Daniels and Danielle Reeves. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Douglass Hill, Drew Hill and Desiree Renaud . Calling will be on May 1, 2006 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on May 2, 2006 at the Porter Funeral Home Tipton with Pastor Steve Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Kempton Cemetery.

WILLIAM MERLE GIBBS

MARCH 15, 1919 ~ APRIL 22, 2006

William Merle Gibbs age 87 of Tipton, IN passed away at 1:40 AM on April 22, 2006 at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton, IN. He was born on March 15 1919 in Allen County, KY to Andrew Franklin and Mallie (Phillip) Gibbs. Merle married Dollie Creasy on November 27, 1937 and she passed away on February 19, 2006. Merle had attended the Beach Grove Baptist Church in Tipton. He retired in 1974 from Rhome Spaulding in Frankfort, Indiana. Merle and Dollie were proud residents of Kempton for over 60 years before moving to Tipton in 2001. Merle is survived by a son, William “Bill” Earl Gibbs of Las Vegas, Nevada along with his grandchildren Jeff Gibbs and wife Lisa of Tipton, Jim Gibbs and wife Chris of Las Vegas and Ryan Gibbs of Kokomo. Great Grandchildren surviving are Camden & Clinton Gibbs of Tipton and Amanda Gibbs of Las Vegas. Also surviving is a sister, Audrey Perry of TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Five brothers and sisters preceded in death. Calling will be on April 25, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on April 26 , 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Porter Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Kempton Cemetery in Kempton with Pastor Cliff Kelly officiating.

KATHY W. SULLIVAN

JULY 28, 1955 ~ MARCH 27, 2006

Kathy W. Sullivan age 50 of Kempton, IN passed away at 5:03 PM on March 27th , 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 28th, 1955 in Indianapolis, IN to Edwin and Barabara (Likens) Moore. Kathy is survived by her children Kenny Sullivan of Kempton, Amanda Sullivan of Kokomo, Jennifer Sullivan of Kempton, Danny (Alyssa) Sullivan of Kempton along with a grand-daughter Gracie Lee Sullivan. Also surviving are two brothers, David Moore of Celina, TN, Victor Moore of Belle Union, TN, three sisters, Bonnie Moore of Frankfort, IN, Linda Daily of Darlington, SC and Loretta Rady of Arkansas. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother. Calling will be on March 31st from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Graveside services will be held on April 1st at 10:00 AM at the Kempton Cemetery with Rev. Ed Smith officiating.

SETTIE ESTELLE PLAKE

MARCH 1, 1925 ~ MARCH 25, 2006

Settie Estelle Plake age 81 of Tipton, IN passed away at 3:15 PM on March 25th , 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 1st, 1925 in Red Boiling Springs, TN to Raymond D. and Docia I. (McAlpin) Short who are both deceased. Estelle was a member of the Church of Christ in Tipton, IN and had enjoyed quilting, knitting and any type of needlework. She married Bobbie Gene Plake on January 22nd, 1949 and he passed away on July 9th, 2002.Estelle retired in 1979 from Cuneo Press in Kokomo after working there for 20 years. She is survived by her children Walter H. (Terrie) Plake of Logansport, Sandra K. Barry of Kokomo, Dillard P. (Connie) Plake of Tipton and Veronica L. (Thomas) Barry of Kokomo along with 18 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Pauline Hunter of Tipton, Imogene Dulworth of Anderson, Elene Flowers of Celina, Katherine Vincent of Tipton. Estelle was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one grandchild and one great grandchild. Calling will be on March 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on March 30th at 2:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton with Pastor Ken McClain officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

KENNETH WILLIAM ACHENBACH

DECEMBER 28, 1913 ~ MARCH 17, 2006

Kenneth William Achenbach age 92 formerly of Tipton, IN passed away at 11:00 AM on March 17th, 2006 at Mason Healthcare in Warsaw, IN. He was born on December 28th, 1913 in Tipton, IN to Hallie R. and Jessie V. (Hoover) Achenbach whom are both deceased. Kenneth married Anita G. Beaver on November 7th, 1937 and she passed away on March 6th, 2005. Ken was a member of West Street Christian Church, Tipton Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and was a past board member of Steel Parts Credit Union all of Tipton. He was employed as street commissioner for the City of Tipton for several years. Ken is survived by his daughter Beth (Thomas) Mundell of Silver Lake, IN along with a sister Wanda Mae Lemen of Indianapolis and a brother Jack L. Achenbach of Delaware. Two grand-daughters Chris (Darrell) Elston, Stacie (Jim) Shaffer and six great grandchildren Lindsay Elston, Bryan Elston, Derek Elston, Aubree Elston, Jordan Shaffer and Whitney Shaffer also survive. Memorials may be made to West Street Christian Church or Kosciusko Home Care at P.O. Box 1196 in Warsaw, IN 46581. Calling will be on March 22nd from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM March 22nd at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton with Rev. Janice Burns-Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

JEFFERY D. BAUER

AUGUST 22, 1977 ~ MARCH 14, 2006

Jeffery D. Bauer age 28 of Curtisville, IN passed away at 5:00 AM on March 14th , 2006 at his home in Curtisville. He was born on August 22nd 1977 in Tipton, IN to Russell and Brenda (Mundy) Bauer whom survive. Jeff had attended Normanda Christian Church in Normanda, IN and had enjoyed playing Little League and Youth Football as a child. Jeffery had been employed at Pizza Hut in Tipton. He is survived by two sisters Lydia and Heather Bauer both of Curtisville along with a maternal grandmother Jeanette Mundy of Cicero, IN. Jeffery was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles & Phyllis Bauer and Harold Mundy along with an aunt Beverly Mitchell. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Hospice in Kokomo or Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. Calling will be on March 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on March 17th at 10:00 AM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton with Pastor J.R. Moffitt officiating. Burial will be in the Normanda Cemetery.

MILDRED IMOGENE CASTLE

OCTOBER 10, 1922 ~ MARCH 13, 2006

Mildred Imogene Castle passed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ at 3:57 PM on March 13th , 2006 at the I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on October 10th , 1922 in Moonshine, IL. Gene was the youngest daughter of Jesse M. and Eva Mae (Coombs) Johnson. She had retired from Delco Radio in Kokomo in 1980 after 22 years of service. Gene, as she was commonly called will be sadly missed by her husband of forty years, Ernest Ray Castle of Atlanta, IN and her son, Kenneth L. Brooks & his life partner Donald A. Lindenbrook of St. Charles, IL , Also surviving are Tom and Marlene Castle of KY, Kay and Lowell Blair of KY, Frank and Molly Fitch of KY and Belle and Larry Myers of Indiana. Gene also leaves behind a sister Dorothy Roby of Indianapolis, IN plus a whole bunch of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and even great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters and a daughter Wanda Lou Brooks. What a reunion they are having around the throne of the Heavenly Parent. Calling will be on March 17th, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on March 18th at the Tetersburg Cemetery with Pastor Dan Ealy officiating. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International.

CLAUDIA E. COFFIN

OCTOBER 6, 1925 ~ MARCH 1, 2006

Claudia E. Coffin age 80 of Tipton, IN passed away at 7:42 AM on March 1st , 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital in Tipton, IN. She was born on October 6th ,1925 in Normal, IN to Claude and Dessie (Nash) Pratt. Claudia was a housewife and a homemaker. She is survived by her children, James R. (Glenda) Coffin of Lafayette, IN, Mark A. (Ferril) Coffin of Windfall, IN, Joseph H. (Hazel) Coffin of Sharpsville, IN, Sandra K. (Roger) Brown of Greentown, IN, Connie L. (Dave) O’Neal of Greentown, IN and Michael K. (Chris) Coffin of Sharpsville along with twenty two grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren. Claudia was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Sue Dunham, two grandchildren and two sisters. Calling will be on March 3rd from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on March 4th at the Porter Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Coffin officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside Cemetery in Windfall.

RONNIE SULLIVAN

NOVEMBER 19, 1946 ~ FEBRUARY 25, 2006

Ronnie Sullivan age 59 of Tipton, IN passed away at 9:31 PM on February 25th, 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital in Tipton, IN. He was born on November 19th ,1946 in Madison County, FL to Joe and Beulah (Phillips) Sullivan. Ronnie was self-employed. He is survived by his children, Candy Gabel, Sandy Sullivan and Ronnie Sullivan Jr. all of Florida along with five grandchildren. Two brothers Lonnie and Donnie Sullivan both of TN, also survive. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Calling will be on February 28th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM on the same date at the Porter Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Ward officiating. Interment will be held at a later.

LEOTA M. ACHENBACH

AUGUST 6, 1922 ~ FEBRUARY 21, 2006

Leota M. Achenbach age 83 of Tipton, IN passed away at 7:29 PM on February 21st , 2006 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN. She was born on August 6th ,1922 in Indianapolis, IN to Irvin Lewis and Martha (Lehr) Burch. Leota married Dale H. Achenbach on August 26th ,1939 and he passed away on November 14th, 2000. She was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. Leota is survived by her children, Ralph (Susie) Achenbach of Tipton, Bill (Sue) Achenbach of Iona Lake, IN, Ed Achenbach of Tipton, Connie (Jim) Smith of Tipton, Dave (Bev) Achenbach of Cicero, IN, Joe (Mary) Achenbach of Denver, CO, a daughter in law, Connie Achenbach of Harriman, TN and a foster daughter Nelda (Don) Semon of Elwood along with twenty three grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One son Robert Achenbach preceded his mother in death. Calling will be on February 24nd from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on February 25th at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN with Pastor Bob Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.

DOLLIE M. GIBBS

MARCH 16, 1921 ~ FEBRUARY 19, 2006

Dollie M. Gibbs age 84 of Tipton, IN passed away at 10:49 AM on February 19th 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital in Tipton, IN. She was born on March 16th 1921 in Westmoreland, TN to Walter Virgil and Cora Bell (Caldwell) Creasy. Dollie married William Merle Gibbs on November 27, 1937 and he survives. She was a member of the Beach Grove Baptist Church in Tipton. Dollie had retired in 1973 from the Kempton Grocery in Kempton. She and Merle were residents of Kempton for over 60 years before moving to Tipton in 2001. Dollie is survived by a son, William “Bill” Earl Gibbs of Las Vegas, Nevada along with her grandchildren Jeff Gibbs and wife Lisa of Tipton, Jim Gibbs and wife Chris of Las Vegas and Ryan Gibbs of Kokomo. Great Grandchildren surviving are Camden & Clinton Gibbs of Tipton and Amanda Gibbs of Las Vegas. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lyles of TN and Vera Gibbs of FL. Three brothers and 3 sisters preceded in death. Calling will be on February 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton. Funeral services will be held on February 23rd at 10:00 AM at the Porter Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Kempton Cemetery in Kempton with Pastor Cliff Kelly and Victor Creasy officiating.
