ROCKVILLE - Randy Joe Little, 41, of West Lafayette died at 9:43 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Home Hospital in Lafayette. He was born Sept. 6, 1961, in Lafayette to Joseph Arnold Little and Judith Sutherlin Little. Survivors include his mother; two daughters, Angela Clendenning and Brittnie Little; two brothers, Kevin Little and Gary Little; one sister, Shannon Linson; and paternal grandmother, Opal Little. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville, with the Rev. Carl Huxford officiating. Burial is in Miller cemetery at Lodi, with graveside military honors. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and before services Tuesday.
Richard E. O'Neal
CLOVERDALE - Richard E. O'Neal, 65, of Cloverdale died of natural causes at Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Clarian Health/Methodist Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born June 13, 1937, in Greencastle to Joshua O'Neal and Ruby Mae Siddons O'Neal. Survivors include his wife, Ellen E. "Beth" Alexander O'Neal; his mother; one daughter, Tracy Shrum; one son, Mark E. O'Neal; three brothers, Chet O'Neal, Steve O'Neal and Mike O'Neal; and three grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Cloverdale Church of Christ, with Brother Fred Davis and Gary Fiscus officiating. Burial is in New Providence cemetery in Greencastle. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Whitaker Funeral Home.
Opal Smith
BRAZIL - Opal Smith, 82, of Brazil and formerly of Terre Haute died at 3:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. She was born May 9, 1920, north of Harmony to George Butler and Henrietta Thomas Butler. Her husband, Foster Smith, died in 1964. Survivors include two brothers, Noble Butler and Frank Butler; four stepchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday in Summit Lawn cemetery. There is no visitation, according to her request. Miller Memorial Chapel assisted with arrangements.
Wilma B. Fulford Baker
Wilma B. Fulford Baker, 75, longtime Terre Haute resident, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 19, 2003, in Mount Zion, Ill. She was a retired file clerk for Columbia Records. She was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Greene County to Elmer G. Fulford and Iva Miller Fulford. Survivors include one son and his wife, the Rev. Robert R. and Debra Baker of Mount Zion; one daughter, Sherry M. Dunbar of Terre Haute; one stepson and his wife, Thomas and Melony Baker of Terre Haute; one brother, Hubert G. Fulford and his wife, Frances of Terre Haute; three sisters and their husbands, Ruth and Wilfred Droessler of California, Leona and Harold Taylor of Brazil and Carolyn and Gene Sons of Terre Haute; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and step grandchildren and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Patrick; one stepdaughter, Mary Lu Gibbons; one sister, Norma Summerlot; and one brother, Elmer Eugene Fulford. Services are 1 p.m. Friday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Mathias officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Friday. Mabel A. Camp, 70, of West Terre Haute died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Vigo County to Morgan Bryan and Mary Wells Bryan. Her husband, Thomas J. Camp Sr., whom she married
May 18, 1949, in West Terre Haute died Feb. 12, 1996. Survivors include one son, Thomas Camp Jr. and his wife, Alice of West Terre Haute; one daughter, Susan K. Shetterly and her husband, David of Aberdeen, Md.; two brothers, Orville Bryan of Reno, Nev., and Paul Bryan of Terre Haute; one sister, Dorothy Camp of Corydon; five grandchildren, Tabitha Booe and her husband, Mike, Samantha Cooper and her husband, David, Thomas Camp III and his wife, Heidi, Megan Shetterly and Kyle David Shetterly; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anita Wilbur and Gertrude Harris; and two brothers, Arliss Bryan and Morgan Bryan Jr. She was a member of the West Vigo Senior Citizens Center. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Leek officiating. Burial is in Bethesda Memorial Park. Richard Elder Sr., 59, of Pimento died at 1:17 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Union Hospital. He was born May 8, 1943, in Vigo County to the Rev. Norman E. Elder Sr. and Ruth Shaw Elder. Survivors include his mother, Ruth Spellman; two sons, Richard Elder Jr. and Edward Elder; one daughter, Artava Gross; two sisters, Rose Mary Hopkins and Carolyn Harris; one brother, Norman Eugene Elder Jr.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Robert Warner Fiess
Robert Warner Fiess, 82, of Terre Haute died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, in Union Hospital. He was a teacher for the Vigo County School Corp., for 32 years. He was born May 3, 1920, in Terre Haute to Phillip Matthew Fiess and Wilhelmina Dreusicke Fiess. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Debney Fiess, whom he married
Feb. 9, 1945; two sons, R. Dean Fiess and his wife, Carol of Elkhart and Richard Fiess and his wife, Stephanie of Deer Park, Texas; one daughter, Elaine Reaves and her husband, Larry of LaPorte; two granddaughters, Kristen Reaves of LaPorte and Bethany Fiess of Deer Park; eight grandsons, David Fiess and his wife, Amber of Fort Wayne; Timothy Fiess of Indianapolis, Jeffrey Fiess and his wife, Lisa of Las Vegas, Michael Reaves and his wife, Angie of La Porte, Neal Fiess, Brian Fiess and Joseph Fiess, all of Deer Park; one step grandson, Ronald Letterman of Deer Park; one great-grandson, Will Fiess of Fort Wayne; one niece, Martha Elliott and her husband, Joseph of Danville, Ill.; and one nephew, Donald Donham of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers. He was a World War II veteran, serving as radar technician in the Signal Corps and Air Corps. He graduated from Indiana State Teachers College with a bachelor of science degree in 1949 and a master of science degree in 1951. He first taught school at Blackhawk Junior and Senior High School, served 16 years as mathematics chairman at Gerstmeyer Technical High School and was chairman of the mathematics department at Terre Haute North Vigo High School for 11 years. He was president of the American Federation of Teachers Local 734. He was a Sunday school teacher, chairman of Votes Assembly, and was a 12-year member of the board of elders of Immanuel Lutheran Church. For nine years he was secretary of the board of directors of the German Oberlander Club. He held membership in the Indiana German Heritage Society. He was a life member of the Lawton-Byrum Post 972 of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He belonged to the Hux Prostate Cancer Support Group. He was active in the Anthony Square Euchre Club. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Philip Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military graveside rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, and 9 a.m. until services Friday, in the church. Ruth E. Finley
Ruth E. Finley, 79, of West Terre Haute died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Union Hospital. She was born April 30, 1924, in Paris, Ill., to Edward Mullins. Survivors include one son, Timothy J. Finley; one sister, Rosemary Maxwell; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry Lee Jenkins Sr.
Jerry Lee Jenkins Sr., 65, of Terre Haute died at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Union Hospital. He was a steel worker at Stran Steel, retiring after 25 years of service, and was a professional house painter and window cleaner. He was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Francisco to Ralph Jenkins and Virginia Lawson Jenkins. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Jenkins; his mother, Virginia Lawson Rainbolt; four sons, Jerry Jenkins, Ralph Everett Jenkins, Dale Robert Jenkins and Carl Franklin Jenkins, all of Terre Haute; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Dean Siverly of Oblong, Ill., and Marcella and Sherman Bratcher and Karen Sue and John McCammon, all of Terre Haute; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Glenn and Carolyn Osborn of Terre Haute and Fred and Barbara Osborn of Jacksonville, Ill.; two grandsons, Jerry Jenkins III and Dawson Jenkins; six granddaughters, Velvet Jenkins, Crystal Jenkins, Heather Jenkins, Elizabeth Jenkins, Megan Jenkins and Amanda Jenkins; two great-grandsons, Robert Louis and Jeffery Dean Jenkins; and one sister-in-law, Lois Hamer. Ruth B. Lewis
Ruth B. Lewis, 88, of West Terre Haute died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Royal Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. She retired from the Schultz Department Store on Wabash Avenue, after 15 years of service and had previously worked at the Roots Department Store on Wabash Avenue for 15 years. She was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Clinton to John Sanders and Jenny Robinson Sanders. Her husband, Willard Lewis, whom she married
April 30, 1934, in Terre Haute died November 1967. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and John Clark of West Terre Haute and Phyllis and Bob Bible of Mooresville; eight grandchildren, Jamie Clark, Andy Clark, Jennifer Clark, Jessica Clark, Dan Scott and his wife, Sarah, Maria Bell and her husband, Brian, Jeff Scott and his wife, Melissa, and Wendy and Rob; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents. Services are 2 p.m. Friday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Hillenburg officiating. Burial is in Bethesda Memorial Park. Jacqueline Leek Ray, 53, of Terre Haute died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her residence. She was a registered nurse. She was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Terre Haute to Frank Leek and Joretta Judy Leek. Survivors include her mother, Joretta Leek; her former husband, Howard Ray, M.D., three daughters, Kimberly Mathias of Indianapolis and Allison Barton and Eleanor Ray, both of Bloomington; five brothers, Stephen Leek and Russell Leek, both of Spencer, Frank Leek of Plainfield, James Leek of Indianapolis and David Leek of West Terre Haute; four sisters, Judy Davitto of Universal, Carol Davenport of Morgantown, Cheryl Palmer of Terre Haute and Jennifer Houser of Manassas, Va.; and one granddaughter, Jaclynn Crittenden. She was a member of the Wabash Valley Roadrunners Club, was awarded the Outstanding Student of Psychiatric Nursing at Indiana State University by the Vigo County Mental Health Association, had earned an Associate of Nursing Degree and was completing her bachelor's degree in nursing. SHELBURN - Philip T. Clements, 65, of Shelburn died at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in his residence. He was born July 10, 1937, in Oela, Md., to George Grannan Clements and Hazel Muriel Burkert Clements. Survivors include his fiancee, Anna McDowell; one daughter, Sherry Kraemer; four brothers, Delbert Clements, Wilmer Clements, Thomas Clements and David Clements; one sister, June Morris; and one grandchild. Graveside services are 2 p.m. today in Johnson cemetery in Graysville, with the Rev. David Cox officiating. There is no visitation. Chatta Brown Michael Moss
JASONVILLE - Chatta Brown Michael Moss, 94, of Jasonville died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was retired from the business office of Central State Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born Oct. 2, 1908, in Island, Ky., to Clyde Brown and Florence Gann Brown. Her first husband, Olin Michael, died in 1956; and her second husband, John Moss, died in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Dean Michael of Austin, Texas and Larry "Mike" Michael of Terre Haute; one brother, Virgil Brown of Jasonville; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents. She moved to Jasonville with her parents at the age of 4 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jasonville. Services are 4 p.m. Friday in McClanahan-Lee Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Frields officiating. Burial is in Lebanon cemetery in Midland. Visitation is 2:30 p.m. until services Friday.
Audrey Ringo Green
LINTON - Audrey Ringo Green, 87 of Linton died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Cloverleaf Healthcare of Knightsville. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Jasonville and also Ringo's Motel in Jasonville for 43 years. She was born Jan. 5, 1916, in Greene County to Frank A. Sharp and Esta Beasley Butler. Her first husband, Arlie Ringo, died July 4, 1981; and her second husband, Everette Sonny Green, died April 13, 1992. Survivors include two sons, Bill Ringo and his wife, Paula of Brazil and Robert A. Ringo and his wife, Nancy of Carlisle; one stepdaughter, Jane Youngblood and her husband, Ferrel of Terre Haute; five grandchildren; one step grandchild; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of Saron Reformed Church of Christ in Linton, Jasonville Chapter 293 Order of Eastern Star and Ladies of the Moose. She was a licensed cosmetologist and was a graduate of Linton High School. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, with the Rev. Sam Bush officiating. Fred A. Ash
Fred A. Ash 74, of Terre Haute, died at 9:55 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2003 in his residence. He was pastor of Gospel Tabernacle Church for 18 years. He was born June 20, 1928 in Greencastle to Claude Ash and Eva Bowman Ash. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, B. Deloris Horner Ash; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Manuel and her husband, Pastor Terry Manuel and Phyllis Bucklew and her husband Mike Pick all of Terre Haute; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Ray Ash and his wife Marsha Ash of Terre Haute; one sister, Loretta Elliott of Billings Mont.; four grandchildren, Dana Bauer and her husband, Fred, Brooke Manuel and her husband Adrian, Heather Hatcher and her husband, Chris, and Devin Ash; three great-grandchildren, Conner, Victoria and Cayne; two nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Virginia Ash Kerns. He served in the ministry for MORE THAN 50 years. During his career he with the help of his wife, established and built Danville Apostolic Church in Danville, Ind. from 1961-1972 and was Pastor of Home Avenue United Pentecostal Church in Terre Haute from 1972-1981. In addition to being a minister, he also worked at Bridgeport Brass in Indianapolis from 1943-1973 and had been a contractor with the Bemis Company, Inc. from 1987-1994. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served in the Medical Corps. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gospel Tabernacle Church with the Revs. Tommy Johnson, Terry Manuel, Simeon Young and John Harden officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery in Greencastle.
