William J. Peel, 36, of Terre Haute died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Union Hospital. He was an electronic technician at Indiana State University for 9 years. He was born Oct. 7, 1965, in Terre Haute to Frank Herman Bashaw and Sally Weaver Peel. Survivors include his wife, Karen Reeder Peel, whom he married
Oct. 3, 1990; his mother, Sally Weaver Peel of Terre Haute; four daughters, Missy Reeder, Candace Reeder, Megan Peel and Billie "BooBoo" Peel, all of Terre Haute; two brothers, Frank Bashaw Jr. and James Bashaw, both of Brazil; two sisters, Kim O'Connell of Seelyville and Kathy Tichenor of Lewis; four uncles, Steven Weaver and Mike Weaver, both of Terre Haute, Bob Weaver of Chicago and Ed Weaver of Denver, Colo.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, co-workers and in-laws; and his stepmother, Phyllis Bashaw. He was preceded in death by his father. He served in the National Guard. Services are 1:30 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Leek officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Margaret June Rogers
Margaret June Rogers, 80, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Terre Haute died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in her residence in Mesa. She was born June 16, 1922, in Appleton, Wis., to Arnold Jensen and Mary VanDenheuvel Jensen. Survivors include her husband, Robert Elmer Rogers; four daughters, Stephanie Bunt, Tonda Roberts, Carla Rogers and Cathy Michelle Gustin; one stepdaughter, Janice Harris; two sisters, Delores Conboy and Betty Peterson; one brother, Floyd Jensen; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Rogers; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in DeBaun Funeral Home Idaho Street Chapel, with the Rev. Rhon Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Elizabeth T. Romoser
Elizabeth T. Romoser, 77, of Terre Haute died at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in her residence. She was retired from Terre Haute Savings Bank. She was born April 1, 1925, in Terre Haute to John Losh and Gertrude Weust Losh. Her husband of 26 years, Harry A. Romoser, whom she married
Aug. 28, 1946, died Jan. 25, 1973. Survivors include four sons, Kenneth J. Romoser and his wife, Brenda, Bernard W. Romoser, Richard L. Romoser and his wife, Twilla, and Patrick J. Romoser and his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Linda K. Malooley and Carol L. Davis and her husband, David; two brothers, Dick Losh of Largo, Fla., and Jim Losh of Streator, Ill.; two sisters, Joann Durham of Peoria, Ill., and Donna Chalkey of Streator, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one son, Gregory A. Romoser, in July 2001. She also worked at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member of the parish. Prayers are 9:40 a.m. Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ron Ashmore officiating. Burial is in Calvary cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home, with evening prayer service at 7:45 p.m., by the Rev. Jeff Grant. William R. Ferguson
WORTHINGTON - William R. Ferguson, 88, of Worthington died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, in his residence. He was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Algona, Iowa, to William Ferguson and Hortense Smith Ferguson. His wife, Sue Ferguson, died Nov. 5, 1991. Survivors include two nieces, Evelyn Miller and Nancy Ferguson; and one nephew, Jack Ferguson. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Sunday in Worthington cemetery, with the Rev. Mel Camp officiating. James O. Fielding
REELSVILLE - James O. Fielding, 75, of Reelsville died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in St. Vincent's Clay Hospital in Brazil. He was born March 12, 1927, in Terre Haute to James Fielding and Mary Fielding. His first wife, Constance Helen Valvo Fielding; and his second wife, Agnes Hisney Fielding, both died earlier. Survivors include one son, Bill Fielding; one daughter, Mary Fielding; two stepdaughters, Amy Dorsett and Pam Rosseck; one sister, Betty Goss; and seven grandchildren. At his request cremation is scheduled, with memorial services at 11 a.m. Thursday in Calcutta cemetery in Brazil, with the Rev. Ernie Rush officiating, and graveside military rites by American Legion Post 2 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127. French Funeral Home of Brazil assisted with arrangements.
Susan A. Windmiller
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Susan A. Windmiller, 75, of Nashville died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002. She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Mulberry, Ind., to Russell G. Bonhan and Dorothy Grace Roberts. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Floyd Windmiller; three sons, Charles Windmiller, John Windmiller and Jim Windmiller; one daughter, Elizabeth Windmiller; two sisters, Jane McCauley and Mary Hogge; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Bob, in 1987. She attended Indiana State University. Services were Aug. 22, 2002, in Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home in Nashville, with the Rev. Randy Cordell officiating. Burial was in Hermitage (Tenn.) Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were golfing friends, Richard Kirk, Bob Leroy and Morris Ozment. Visitation was Aug. 21, 2002, in the funeral home.
Ted Branam Sr.
Ted Branam Sr., 71, of Terre Haute died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in his residence. He was the owner of Branam Discount. He was born Sept. 13, 1931, in Fontanet to Everett Branam Sr. and Grace Eleanor Inglert Branam. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Horton Branam; three daughters, Shirley Branam Gaston and her husband, Charles, Janice Branam Brock and her husband, William and Barbara Jo Branam Davis and her husband, Dennis; five sons, Ted Branam Jr., and his wife, Sherry, Joseph Branam and his wife, Karen, Bradley Branam and his wife, Jan, James Branam and his wife, Kelly and Joshua Branam and his wife, Jennifer; his mother; one brother, Everett Branam Jr.; one sister, Ruth Ann Dougherty; 29 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; and one daughter, Lori Anne Branam. He was a lifelong member of North Terre Haute Christian Church and was a member of Christian Men's Fellowship of the Wabash Valley. He also was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 21 years. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in North Terre Haute Christian Church, 3133 E. Park Ave., with the Revs. Charles Gaston, William Brock, Dennis Davis and Larry Scott officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, in the church.
Levi Eugene 'Buddy' Coleman
Levi Eugene "Buddy" Coleman, 56, of Terre Haute died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in Union Hospital. He retired from Wabash Fiber Box Co., after 15 years of service. Tim Fagg, all of Terre Haute and Connie Dillon and her husband, Charles of Humbolt, Texas; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Terry Coleman, Robert and Mary Coleman, Larry and Penny Coleman and Jerry and Yavonne Coleman, all of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Brittany Lynn Coleman, Haley Dawn Coleman, Megan Michelle Coleman and Cody Michael Coleman; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Joanne Jenkins of Marshall, Ill.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Joe Roberts of Borden; and many nieces and nephews. Emma Jane Gardner, 86, of Terre Haute died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in Union Hospital. She was born Feb 24, 1916, in Terre Haute to George N. Sabiston and Emma L. Bryant Sabiston. Her husband, Francis Gardner, died earlier. Survivors include one sister, Georgia Dreyer; two nieces, Karen Vispi and Kris Dreyer; three nephews, Rick Dreyer, Randy Dreyer and Larry Sabiston. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Harvey W. Sabiston. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Thomas officiating. Ruth Naomi Drumb, 85, of Paris and formerly of West Terre Haute died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Paris Healthcare Center. She retired from the quality control department at Columbia Records. She was born Dec. 1, 1916, in West Terre Haute to Lincoln Tatlock and Essie Tatlock. Her husband, Victor Ambrose Drumb, died earlier. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Drumb of Paris; two sisters, Wilma Newcomer and Madge Dove; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She also was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Leo Drumb; one brother, Herschel Tatlock; and one great-grandson, Michael Drew Downey. Eugene R. Kipple, 82, of Terre Haute died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in the emergency room of Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Terre Haute to Oscar Kipple and Leah Coleman Kipple. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Vester and Lee Ann Wychoff; two sons, Brian Kipple and Gary Featherston; one sister, Rosemary Fread; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Daniel Orville Stewart Jr., 24, of Terre Haute, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002. He was born Dec. 26, 1977, in Salinas, Calif., to Catherine Williams Stewart and Daniel Orville Stewart Sr. Survivors include his father; mother and step-father, Catherine Burgess and Michael Burgess; two brothers, David Stewart and Joshua Burgess; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Williams and Chuck and Lynn Burgess; grandmothers, Lee Annette Dabbs and Catherine Hauck; two aunts, Christy Russell and Linda Stewart; two uncles, Larry Williams and Steven Norton; and a special friend, Brooke Hayes. Services were Tuesday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Cremation is scheduled.
Virginia Mosteller Valerine
Virginia Mosteller Valerine, 83, of Gulfport, Miss., and formerly of Terre Haute died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in Gulfport. She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Fontanet to Guy Mosteller and Nora Mosteller. Her husband, Victor Valerine, died earlier. Survivors include two brothers, Victor Mosteller and Jim Mosteller; and one sister, Ruth Adams. Her body was donated to medical research at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Memorial services were Oct. 8, 2002, in Gulfport Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport assisted with arrangements.
Betty Jane Wagoner
Betty Jane Wagoner, 52, of Terre Haute died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in her residence. She was the owner of Bearly People Day Care in Terre Haute. She was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Savannah, Ill., to Hulbert R. Wagoner and Kathleen Caudill. Survivors include two sisters, Carol Latinovich and Vicki K. Beai, both of Clinton; two brothers, Hulbert R. Wagoner Jr. of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and George Wagoner of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three aunts and two uncles, Dorothy Wagoner of Flagstaff, Ariz., Betty and Ben Turchi of Clinton and Alberta and Bob Bemben of Tennessee; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Edie Grayless and Robert Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one nephew, Randy Beai. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star 428 of West Terre Haute and United Brethren Methodist Church of Universal, and was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Karanovich Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mindy Huffman officiating. Eastern Star memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Trella Baker
LYONS - Trella Baker, 101, of Lyons and formerly of Linton, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Lyons Health and Living Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1900, south of Linton, to Lon Stark and Emma Reed Stark. Her husband, William Grant Baker, died Feb. 7, 1939. Survivors include one son, Jim Baker; one brother, Charlie Stark; one sister, Ruth Harp; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Welch and Cornett Linton Chapel. Burial is in Prairie Chapel cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Saturday.
