Edna J. Meyers
Edna J. Meyers, 81, of Terre Haute, died at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in Health South Rehabilitation Hospital of Terre Haute. She was retired from Midland Glass Company, where she was an inspector. She was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Vigo County to Moses Fortune and Lila Mason Fortune. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Meyers, in 1990. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Richards and husband, Mel; two sons, Robert Meyers and wife, Shirley, and Ronald Meyers and wife, Judy; one brother, Bob Fortune; one sister, Mary Selvia; nine grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alice Brown and Doyne Alkman; and eight brothers, Homer Fortune, Nelson Fortune, Walter Fortune, Woody Fortune, Don Fortune, Harold Fortune, John Fortune and Chuckie Fortune. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Ray Ferren officiating. Entombment is in Roselawn Chapel of Memories. Visitation is 10 a.m. to services Tuesday.
Carl Dawes Swander
Carl Dawes Swander, 78, of Terre Haute, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in his home. He was a carpenter with Paitson Roofing and Siding Co. He was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Terre Haute to Charles Swander and Faye Tuttle Swander. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Verna Phillips Swander; two sons, Roy Swander of Minneapolis and Paul Swander and wife, Sarah, of Indianapolis; three daughters, Karla Strohm, Sarah Pearman and husband, Chuck, all of Terre Haute, and Amanda Dabelow and husband, Ryan, of Avon; one brother, Maurice Swander of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Switzer and husband, Matt, Joshua Strohm, Jacob Strohm, Stacey Pearman, Ryan Pearman, Chad Pearman, Sydney Dabelow and Austin Dabelow; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Charles Swander, Robert Swander, Homer Swander and Paul Swander. He was a member of local carpenter's union for 41 years, Forest Park Bible Church, Zorah Shrine, Shriners Banjo Group and a Navy veteran of World War II, where he was stationed in Trinidad. He was a 32nd-degree, 50-year Mason of William Penn Lodge 727 Free & Accepted Masons and Terre Haute Valley Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite. Services are 2 p.m. today in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home at 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Gene Jeffers officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Visitation is prior to services today. Patricia K. Thomas
Patricia K. Thomas, 52, of Franklin and formerly of Terre Haute, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She was a homemaker. She was born Jan. 12, 1951, in Wheeling, W. Va., to John Floyd and Catherine J. Gayda Floyd. Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William C. Thomas, whom she married
March 17, 1972; two daughters, Christine L. Thomas of Ithaca, N.Y., and Marjorie K. Thomas of Franklin; one son, William J. Thomas of Greenwood; one brother, John Floyd and wife, Jeannie, of Durham, N.C.; one sister, Bridget Zoltek and husband, Andy, of Altamont Springs, Fla.; parents-in-law, William Thomas and Marjorie Thomas of Terre Haute; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated in 1969 from Garfield High School in Terre Haute. She enjoyed sewing,embroidery, crocheting, crafts and cooking. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with the Revs. Richard Pippin and Roy Carpenter officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Mildred B. Banther
SULLIVAN - Mildred B. Banther, 93, of Sullivan, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in Miller Merry Manor. She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Knox County to Russell Berry and Josie Detty Berry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar L. Banther, in 1959. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ann Kimmell and husband, Kenneth, of Sullivan; three sisters, Margaret Berry, Rachel Carrithers and Norma Boone, all of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Risley and Martha Trimble. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in Banks and Brust Funeral Home with Bill Sam Phegley officiating. Burial is in IOOF cemetery in Carlisle. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to services Tuesday.
Louise Robbins Bunch
SULLIVAN - Louise Robbins Bunch, 79, of Sullivan, died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Sullivan to A.E. Draper and Verna V. Brashier Draper. She was preceded in death by first husband, Lee Robbins, and her second husband, Walter Bunch. Survivors include one son, Timothy Lee Robbins and wife, Karol, of Evansville; three grandchildren, Lee Robbins, Stephanie Egler and Angela Snyder; and three great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by one son, Randy Robbins; two brothers, H.E. Draper and William Murphy Draper; and two sisters, Isabelle Sims and Pat Macintire. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Sullivan and Chapter 188 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion Post 139 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2459 Auxiliary. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Banks and Brust Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul McGlasson officiating. Burial is in Center Ridge cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Evelyn Vivian Pell
BRAZIL - Evelyn Vivian Pell, 89, of Brazil, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, in Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville. She was a high school teacher for several years. She was born Dec. 25, 1913, in Brazil to Ira "Pokie" Alsip and Josephine Lete Alsip. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. John R. Pell, in 2000. Survivors include four sons, Dr. Donald Pell and wife, Paula, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dr. John R. Pell, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., James A. Pell and wife, Kathy, of Petersburg, and Robert "Bob" Pell and wife, Jan, of Brazil; 10 grandchildren, Michael, John Richard, Susan, Evelyn, Nicholas, Christopher, Brent, Robert, Blake and Lindsey Pell; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Regina Farris of Brazil. She taught typing, shorthand and bookkeeping in Washburn, Ill., and remedial reading at Brazil Junior High School. She graduated from Brazil High School and Indiana State Teachers College. She studied for a master's degree at the University of Iowa and French at the University of Dijon in France. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brazil, where she sang in the choir, and the Brazil chapter of Tri Kappa sorority. She was an avid golfer who regularly participated in area competitions. She played bridge with the same group of women for more than 50 years in Brazil. She married
her husband June 10, 1940, in Hollywood, Fla. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in Moore Funeral Home in Brazil with the Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial is in Cottage Hill cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Clay County YMCA. Oris M. Campbell
Oris M. Campbell, 84, of Terre Haute died at 10:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Harborside Healthcare. He was retired from Chrysler in Indianapolis. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Bessie J. Metcalf Campbell, whom he married
Dec. 9, 1935; one daughter, Donna Shugert and her husband, Rick of Indianapolis; two brothers, James Marion Campbell of Hawaii and Emmitt Woodrow Campbell of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Horton of Virginia and Ruth Owen of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Denna Wherle, Kim Dalton, Sherri Armstrong, James M. Campbell Jr. and Jim Clark; nine great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Campbell of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, James Miller Campbell Sr., February 1998. He was an Army veteran and was a member of Union Baptist Church, American Legion, United Auto Workers 1226 and Blackhawk Community Center. Services are 3 p.m. Sunday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Revs. Jeff Lee and James Palmer officiating. Burial is in Farmersburg Westlawn cemetery. Visitation is 2 p.m. until services Sunday.

Savannah Lynn Hooks, infant daughter of Jeff and Angie Hooks of Terre Haute died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Terre Haute. She was born July 5, 2001, in Terre Haute. Survivors include her parents; four sisters, Hanna Hooks, Michaela Hooks, Rebecca Hooks and Kylie Hooks; one brother, Jeffrey Hooks Jr.; grandparents, Steve and Teresa Goodwin of Terre Haute and Earl and Johnnie Allison of Alabama; great-grandparents, James and Dorothy Watson of Terre Haute; one uncle, Steven Goodwin of Carmel; several aunts and uncles in Alabama; and several great-aunts and great-uncles in Terre Haute. Mildred Evans Lang
Mildred Evans Lang, 91, of Terre Haute died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Harborside Healthcare. She retired as a teachers aide from Fuqua Elementary School, after 17 years of service. She was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Terre Haute to Joseph Sylvanus Evans and Catherine Davis Evans. Her husband, Frederick Wilson Lang, died in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Dolores Lindholm Cooper of Brownsburg and Jean C. Vibbert of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was a foster grandparent, and was a member of Agape Christian Church, Davis Avenue Community Club and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Ladies Auxiliary. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Idaho Street Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Winson officiating. Burial is in Mount Pleasant cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Monday. Blanche B. McCammon
Blanche B. McCammon, 76, of Terre Haute died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was retired from Columbia Records where she was a machine operator. She was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Canada, to John Hamilton and Rose Alma Dupuis Hamilton. Her husband, Allen McCammon, died earlier. Survivors include one son, Gene Edward Bayles; one daughter-in-law, Fay Bayles; one brother, George D. Bayles; one grandson, Gene Edward Bayles Jr.; one granddaughter, Debbie Lynn Bayles; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Bayles and Jordan Bayles; two friends, Karol Bayles and Mike Haughee; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, John Kenneth Bayles. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home. Burial is in Highland Lawn cemetery. Charles W. Morge, 82, of Terre Haute died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born Nov. 9. 1919, in Indianapolis to Charles A. Morge and Lula Waters Morge. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Williams Wright Morge; two sons, Chuck Morge and Mark Morge; one daughter, Judy Follett; one brother, John Morge; one sister, Pam Eversole; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Helen V. Mosel
Helen V. Mosel, 100, of Terre Haute died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Southwood Health Care Center. She was born Jan. 16, 1901, in Mattoon, Ill., to Hutchinson D. McComb and Margaret Boyle McComb. Her husband, Mason H. Mosel, died in 1985. Survivors include one sister, Catherine McComb of Terre Haute; one niece; and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Harry McComb, Richard McComb and John McComb. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Prayers are 9:30 a.m. Monday, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, with the Rev. Joe Kern officiating. Alice Marie Drees Reed, 66, of Terre Haute died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, in Royal Oaks Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Hays, Kan., to Clarence Drees and Ora Drees. Survivors include six daughters, Debbie Nichols, Roberta Atkeson, Kathy Suttles, Vickie Ouellette, Lee Anne Lopez, and Brenda Walling; one son, Robert Atkeson; three sisters, Pearl Kasmir, Helen Nelson and Bonnie Grimes; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews. Private services will be at a later date. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Luetta A. Skirvin
Luetta A. Skirvin, 64, of Terre Haute died at 10:24 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in Union Hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Terre Haute to Carl F. Riggs and Sylvia Stringer Riggs. Her husband, Wesley Skirvin, died earlier. Mary L. Dugger Waller
Mary L. Dugger Waller, 85, of Terre Haute died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in Southwood Health Care Center. She was the retired owner of M & M Restaurant and Lounge, which she built and operated. She was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Cuzco, Dubois County, Ind., to George Landreth and Goldean Landreth. Her first husband, Mason Jenkins, died in 1950; her second husband, Melvin Dugger, died in 1958; and her third husband, Merle S. Waller, died in 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Georgia Ann Foote and her husband, Sam of Terre Haute; four grandchildren, Michael Foote and his wife, Gayla, Mary Ann Grady and her husband, Rick, Steve Foote and his wife, Jeannette and Scott Foote and his wife, Shelly, all of Terre Haute; seven great-grandchilden, Ryan Foote, Chris Foote, D.J. Johnson, Sara Johnson, Cameron Grady, Catie Ann Grady and Shelby Foote. She also was preceded in death by one brother, John; and one sister, Sarah. She was a former resident of Vincennes, where she and her first husband owned and operated a grocery store. Following his death she came to Terre Haute, where she had several businesses, including Mary's Truck Stop in Seelyville. Services are 2 p.m. today in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Rev. Aaron Wheaton officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services.
