John M. Stanley
John M. Stanley, 81, of Terre Haute died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in Union Hospital. He was a truck driver for Transport Motor Express. He was born April 9, 1920, in Terre Haute to Fred Stanley and Mary Adams Stanley. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Webb Stanley, whom he married
Dec. 11, 1940; two sons, Ken Stanley and his wife, Patricia and Michael Stanley and his wife, Robin; one daughter, Barbara Roberts and her husband, James; one sister, Bernice Hatfield; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John "Rick" Stanley and David Lee Stanley; and one brother, Fred Stanley. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Krietenstein Post 104 American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Mattox-Ryan Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 9 a.m. until services Monday.
Belvia C. Wagle
Belvia C. Wagle, 79, of Terre Haute died at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Union Hospital. She was retired from Midland Glass, where she was employed as a clerk and off-bearer, and was a member of its union, Local 132, where she had served as shop steward. She was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Vigo County to Jesse Blaine Wagle and Elizabeth Sourwine Wagle. Survivors include one son, Ralph Wagle and his wife, Donna of Terre Haute; one daughter, Linda Lazzell and her husband, Jay of Terre Haute; one sister, Mabel Haynes of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren, Jason Chatman, Lindsay Chatman, Jacob Wagle, Joseph Wagle, Jackie Wagle, Jess Lazzell, Jenny Lazzell, Chris Lazzell, Sarah Lazzell and Matthew Greene; one great-grandson, Blake Chatman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Leta Daub, Mildred Haynes, Opal Haynes and Eloise Erwin; seven brothers, Samuel Wagle, Jake Wagle, David Wagle, Kenny Wagle, Jessie Wagle, Delbert Wagle and Edward Wagle. She was a member of Otter Creek Church, Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary, American Legion Post 104 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 Auxiliary, Eagles, Moose and Bethlehem Rebekah Lodge 805. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with the Revs. Richard Kaley and Doug Haynes officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Mabel I. Gott
SULLIVAN - Mabel I. Gott, 90, of Sullivan died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in Miller's Merry Manor. She was born July 1, 1911, in Sullivan County to Eli Heady and Ethel Smith Heady. Her husband, Clint Gott, died in 1963. Survivors include one son, Bill Gott; one daughter, Donna Townsend; one brother, Eli Heady Jr.; two sisters, Betty Rea and Wilma Rea; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Banks & Brust Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Gott officiating. Burial is in Center Ridge cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Charles J. Hendrix
ROCKVILLE - Charles J. Hendrix, 81, of Lee Alan Bryant Nursing Home, and formerly of Fontanet died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born July 2, 1920, in Clay County to Charles Fredrick Hendrix and Emma Young. His wife, Maxine Hendrix, died March 4, 2002. Survivors include four daughters, Janice Hendrix, Emma Wilson, Amy Cox and Martha Hendrix; three sons, Charles J. Hendrix III, Bradley Hendrix and Thomas Hendrix; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, in Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, with the Rev. Mindy Huffman officiating. Burial is in Walnut Grove cemetery, with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 140 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6653. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Dolores Lister Jordan
HARMONY - Dolores Lister Jordan, 70, of New City, N.Y., and formerly of Harmony, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in her residence, following an extended illness. She was born March 20, 1932, in Harmony to E.O. "Jum" Lister and Marie Flack Lister. Survivors include her husband, Edmund Jordan; two daughters, Gretchen Farrell and Lisa Carlucci; one sister, Jean Modesitt; one brother, James J. Lister; two grandsons; three nephews; and one niece. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Gary K. Scroggins officiating. Burial is in Croy's Creek cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m. until services Tuesday.
Francis W. 'Buck' McKain
SULLIVAN - Francis W. "Buck" McKain, 95, of Sullivan died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born June 27, 1906, in Freetown to Elva McKain and Lizzie Aurt McKain. His wife, Florence Marie Vest McKain, died earlier. Survivors include two sons, Jerry McKain and Bob McKain; two daughters, Debbie Kinnaman and Phyllis Bogard; one brother, Hezzie McKain; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Monday in Holmes Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Rex Jones officiating. Burial is in Merom cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.

SHELBURN - Russel H. Smith, 66, of Shelburn died at 2:02 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Clay County to Charles E. Smith and Mary L. Knight Smith. His first wife, Wanda L. Raley Smith, died March 1990. Survivors include his wife, Reba Elaine Crist Smith; five daughters, Kourtney L. Smith, Cathy L. Fisher, Elizabeth A. Samm, Nancy L. Jackson and Kayle D. Landtrip; four sons, Russell R. Smith, David E. Smith, Bryan K. Smith and Jeff A. Smith; one stepdaughter, Ronda L. Crist; one stepson, Ronald "Aaron" Crist; two sisters, Laveda Carr and Juanita Bose; three brothers, Charles L. Smith, Otis R. Smith and Dale P. Bessie J. Campbell
Bessie J. Campbell, 84, died Friday, June 28, 2002, in Union Hospital. She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Vigo County to Thomas Metcalf and Floy Foreman Metcalf. Her husband, Oris M. Campbell, died Dec. 6, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Shugert; one sister, Opal Loudermilk; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Gloria Buell Crowley
Gloria Buell Crowley, 77, of Terre Haute died Friday, June 28, 2002, in Terre Haute. She was born March 13, 1925, in Terre Haute to Wayne Buell and Lucy Arney Buell. Her husband, William T. Crowley Jr., died earlier. Survivors include two sons, W. Timothy Crowley and Stephen Dale Crowley; one sister, Norma Jean Schienbein; and one grandson. Sister Charles Louise (Doretha) Kluesner
Sister Charles Louise Kluesner, 78, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods died at 8:51 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, in Karcher Hall. She was a teacher. She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Jasper to John Kluesner and Caroline Humbert Kluesner. Survivors include one sister, Sister Rosemary Kluesner, S.P., of St. Mary-of-the-Woods; one brother, Charles L. Kluesner of Lakewood, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Kluesner, Marcus Kluesner and Norbert Kluesner. She attended St. Joseph Grade School in Jasper, Jasper High School and Providence Juniorate in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and received her bachelor of science degree in education from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence Jan. 5, 1941, professed First Vows Aug. 15, 1943 and Final Vows Jan. 23, 1949. She taught in schools staffed by the Sisters of Providence in Indiana, Illinois, Texas and California. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Church of the Immaculate Conception, with the Rev. Bernard Head officiating. Burial is in cemetery of the Sisters of Providence. Wake is 3 p.m. Monday in Providence Hall, with wake service at 4:30 p.m., in the church. The Callahan Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Rosemary H. Mann
Rosemary H. Mann, 75, of Terre Haute died Thursday, June 27, 2002, in Union Hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Terre Haute to John Archer and Blanche Archer. Her husband, Joseph Mann, died earlier. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Howard and Ruth Hensley; two sons, Arthur Hensley and Franklin Mann; one sister, Ilene Harmon; three brothers, Bruce Archer, William Archer and Clarence Archer; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services are private in Roselawn Funeral Home.
William C. Myers
William C. Myers, 59, of Orchard Park, N.Y., and formerly of Hammond and Riley died Monday, June 10, 2002, in Orchard Park. He was employed as a manager for Republic Steel Co., for 36 years. He was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Linton to Alfred Myers and Constance Myers. Survivors include one son, James Myers and his wife, Laura of Hammond; two daughters, Elizabeth Treco and her husband, Raymond and Joan Tejchma and her husband, Robert, all of Plainfield; and five grandchildren, Sylvia, Sarah, Zachary, Matthew and Alexander. He was a Marine veteran and was a member of the Indiana Masonic Lodge. Services were June 17, 2002, in Mattox-Fox Funeral Home in Riley, with private graveside services in Oak Hill cemetery.
Kathryn O. Reel
Kathryn O. Reel, 69, of West Terre Haute died at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, in her residence. She retired from Hendrick Absract Co., in 1992, after 25 years of service. She was born July 22, 1932, in Cle Elum, Wash., to William Clark Upman and Ella Irene Deaver Upman. Her husband, James Henry Reel, whom she married
Oct. 8, 1954, in West Terre Haute died April 21, 1984. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Olivia Gose and Dale Gose of Hagerstown, Rebecca Lynn Hale and Billy Hale and Carla Diane Whitesell and Daniel Bruce Whitesell, all of New Goshen; one sister, Billie Sue Stepp of Terre Haute; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas James Upman and Thelma Upman of Geneva, Ill.; one brother-in-law, Vinnie Foradori of West Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Andrew Courtney Gose, Jack Tyler Gose, Jennifer Lynn Hale, Eric Mathew Hale and Olivia Lynn Whitesell; and 15 nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Ella Grace Whitesell; one sister, Verna Irene Foradori; and one brother-in-law, James W. Stepp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Terre Haute and was a paper doll collector. Services are 2 p.m. today in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Moore officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is noon until services. Mary L. Riley, 85, died at 5:10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, in her son's residence in Evansville. She was born May 13, 1917, in Byrdstown, Tenn., to Soloman Sells and Laura Jones Sells. Her husband, Cecil V. Riley, died in 1998. Survivors include three sons, Glen Riley, Jay D. Riley and Frank D. Riley; four daughters, Annetta Burke, Nellie Lane, Lynda Hickenbotham and Lynette Silver; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
