Donald Eugene Larimer
Donald Eugene Larimer, 77, of Terre Haute died at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Royal Oaks Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness of cancer. He was employed as a salesman for Levin Brothers for 25 years and also was a manager for Stewart Martin's Snap Shop for several years. He was born to Earl Larimer and Myrtle Larimer. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Larimer; three sons, Donald Michael Larimer and his wife, Vicki and Gary E. Larimer and his wife, Becky, all of Terre Haute, and Larry Larimer and his wife, Sandi, of Huntington; five sisters, Ruth Streacker, Mary Wilkinson, Josie Farris, Everetta DewBrew and Carolyn Oldham; one brother, David Larimer; nine grandchildren, Brian Larimer and his wife, Amy, Lisa Chubb and her husband, Chad, Crystal Larimer, Samantha Larimer, Robert Larimer, Joseph Larimer, Larry Larimer Jr., Jordan Larimer and Shanna Larimer; three great-grandchildren, Jessica Larimer, Joshua Larimer and Gabriel Chubb; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jesse. He was a disabled Army veteran and attended Hulman Street Wesleyan Church for the past several years. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in Roselawn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dan Willis officiating. The American Legion will perform military services, at the funeral home. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with prayer services at 7 p.m.
David B. Ritchie
David B. Ritchie, 81, of Harlingen, Texas, and formerly of Terre Haute died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Valley Baptist Medical Center in Texas. He was a quality control inspector with Debolt Safe & Lock Co., until his retirement. He was born April 6, 1920, in Terre Haute to David Ritchie and Margaret Ritchie, and had been a resident of Harlingen since moving there from Canton, Ohio in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Eunice Ritchie; one son, Dave Ritchie and his wife, Brenda of Terre Haute; one grandson, David Ritchie of Terre Haute; and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, James Ritchie. He was ordained as a minister in 1994 and was a visiting minister for Valley Baptist Medical Center. He was a member of the Olmito (Texas) Baptist Church, and received an award for 50 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge in Ohio. Services are 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Highland Lawn cemetery, with the Rev. Brian Pair officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn cemetery. Thomas Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. The family suggests, that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
Nancy Ann Staggs
Nancy Ann Staggs, 63, of Terre Haute died at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Vigo County to Charles Staggs and Mildred Roeschlein Staggs. Survivors include one brother, David G. Staggs; two sisters, Mary Jane Scarbrough and Susan Henseler; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Larry Reck officiating. Burial is in Van Cleve cemetery. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until services Saturday.
Donald M. Talkington
Donald M. Talkington, 78, of Terre Haute died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Harborside Healthcare. He was retired as an underwriter with Forrest Sherer Insurance. He was born June 15, 1923, in Chesterfield, Ill., to Jesse F. Talkington and Eva Mae Murphy Talkington. Survivors include his wife, Verla L. Talkington, whom he married
July 17, 1954; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark E. and Ramana Talkington of West Bend, Wis., and Sean A. and Andrea Talkington of South Bend; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Roy Carlsgaard of Bargersville; eight grandchildren, Jesse Carlsgaard, Allee Carlsgaard, Maegan Carlsgaard, Sydney Carlsgaard, James Talkington, Katy Talkington, Erin Talkington and Mason Talkington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Virginia Sassenberger; and one son, Michael A. Talkington. He also was retired as an underwriter for Miller's Mutual in Alton, Ill., and was a Navy Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Services are 2:30 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Bert Baker officiating. Entombment is in Roselawn Mausoleum, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 972.
Mary M. Yatsko Thomas
Mary M. Yatsko Thomas, 99, of Pinehurst, N.C., and formerly of Terre Haute died at 12:04 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was a homemaker, and had lived in Pinehurst since 1996. She was born Feb. 20, 1902, in Coxville, to Vendel Yatsko and Elizabeth Harnagy Yatsko. Her husband, Samuel F. Thomas, died Dec. 19, 1987. Survivors include one son, John S. Thomas and his wife, Mary Beth of Pinehurst; one daughter, Mary Claire Hamrick and her husband, William of Terre Haute; two grandsons, Jeff Thomas of Huntersville, N.C. and Charles Hamrick of Fort Wayne; two granddaughters, Jill Thomas Barnes of Raleigh, N.C., and Sally Hamrick Robertson of Silver Springs, Md.; great-grandchildren, Kayla Thomas, Connor Thomas, Matthew Barnes, Morgan Barnes and Samantha Robertson; and several nieces and nephews in Indiana and Illinois. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Elizabeth Lauer, Verna Stull Bhals and Anna Haas; four brothers, John Yatsko, Paul Yatsko, Michael Yatsko and Andrew Yatsko; and one granddaughter, Gwen Thomas. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the churches altar society and Simeon Club. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Monsignor Lawrence Moran officiating. Burial is in Highland Lawn cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today, with rosary service at 7:30 p.m., in Callahan Funeral Home. Ralph S. Killion
MANSFIELD - Ralph S. Killion, 77, of Mansfield died at 7:33 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was employed at Fiat-Allis as a metallurgist in Springfield, Ill., for over 30 years. He was born July 21, 1924, in Terre Haute to William Herbert Killion and Lena Funkhouser Killion. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne DeClair Killion, whom he married
Aug. 9, 1952; one son, Mark S. Killion of Springfield; one daughter, Micki Killion Morahn and her husband, Steve of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Jackson James Killion, John Patrick Morahn, Mike Morahn and Megan Morahn; one sister, Margaret "Peg" Fischer of Terre Haute; and Nora Belle Watt of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel Joseph Killion, in infancy; one brother, William B. Killion; and one sister, Rosemary Smith. He was a Terre Haute Garfield High School graduate and received his mechanical engineering degree from Rose-Hulman Institute in 1950. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in both the European and Pacific Theaters. While living in Springfield, he was a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, was a Boy Scout leader, Order of the Arrow, a baseball coach, and an amateur radio operator. He was active in the Senior Games in Springfield and in the Wabash Valley, achieving the level of master swimmer. Upon relocating to the Mansfield area, he was head miller at Mansfield Roller Mill for 10 years, and assisted his wife in her "Scrubbies" business at area craft shows. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with Rick Short and the Rev. Marshall Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Run cemetery in Bridgeton, with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 2 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and before services Saturday. The family requests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Wabash Council for Camperships; or, to the Rose-Hulman Solar Car Team. Elizabeth Ann McAuliffe
BRAZIL - Elizabeth Ann McAuliffe, 79, of Brazil died at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, in her residence, of Alzheimer's Disease. She was born May 9, 1922, in Omaha, Neb., to James Gleason and Edith Krantz Gleason. Her husband, John F. McAuliffe, died June 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Martha McAuliffe Copper and her husband, Kenneth of Brazil and Mary Barnstead and her husband, Joseph of Indianapolis; six sons, Edward McAuliffe and his wife, Arlene of Brazil; Dennis McAuliffe and his wife, Connie of Alexandria, Va., James McAuliffe and his wife, Sharon of Virginia, Patrick McAuliffe and his wife, Karen of Gulf Shores, Ala., John McAuliffe and his wife, Kathleen of Williamston, Mich., and Timothy McAulifffe and his wife, Nitra of Natawan, N.J.; one sister, Edith Goodhart and her husband, Robert of Brazil; one brother, James Gleason and his wife, Betty of Grand Island, Neb.; 25 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Annunciation Church of Brazil and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Annunciation Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Ciano officiating. Burial is in Restlawn cemetery. Muriel F. Barnhart
Muriel F. Barnhart, 80, of West Terre Haute died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Royal Oaks Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Nov. 17, 1921, to Richard Bailey and Vivian Ramsey Bailey. Survivors include her husband, Lorenzo Barnhart; one son, Phillip W. Barnhart of Nashville, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Barbara J. Maher of Florida; one sister, Delores Hunter of Terre Haute; one brother, Richard W. Bailey of Florida; three grandchildren, Phillip W. Barnhart II and Duane M. Barnhart, both of Florida and Alissa J. Spittler of Terre Haute; and two great-grandchildren, Joshua M. Barnhart and Isabella G. Barnhart, both of Florida. She was a member of West Terre Haute First United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 428 of West Terre Haute. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sandy Clark officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Clara Jane Beck
Clara Jane Beck, 87, of West Terre Haute died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Lakeview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 13, 1914, in Washington, Ind., to James Charles Norris and Amy Gertrude Shultz Norris. Her husband, Millard Fillmore Beck, died July 12, 1988. Survivors include three sons, William Beck, Richard Beck and Dale Beck; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn cemetery, with the Rev. Bob Maskell officiating. Visitation is Monday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home.
Mildred J. Cameron
Mildred J. Cameron, 95, of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in American Village. Her husband, Clifford E. Cameron, died earlier. Survivors include two nephews, Donal Black and James W. Black; and one niece, Mary Jane Black. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Flanner & Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary in Indianapolis. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Lawn cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation is one hour before services Tuesday in Flanner & Buchanan Mortuary.
Esther O. Pearce Foltz
Esther O. Pearce Foltz, 93, of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute, died at 1:40 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in her residence. She was born April 19, 1908, in Terre Haute to Newton V. Pearce and Sarah Riggs Pearce. Her husband, Vernon Foltz, died in 1990. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Linda S. and Larry Smith of Plainfield; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Foltz and Janet Foltz; one son, Allan Foltz; her parents; two brothers; and one sister. She was past president of the Otter Creek Home Economics Club, and was a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church and member of Prime Time Purdue Extension Homemaker's Club for 39 years. She belonged to various social groups. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Scott officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Inez Ayers Lee
Inez Ayers Lee, 86, of Terre Haute and formerly of Montezuma died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in Harborside Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 10, 1915, in Fontanet to Carey Ayers and Lola Nowling Ayers. There are no known survivors. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Monday in Oakland cemetery in Montezuma, with the Rev. Wendell Adams officiating. There is no visitation. Brown Funeral Home in Montezuma assisted with arrangements.
Thomas C. 'Curt' Lloyd
Thomas C. "Curt" Lloyd, 87, of Terre Haute died at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in his residence. He was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Terre Haute to Guy Lloyd and Effie Brown Lloyd. His first wife, Winnie Spencer Lloyd; and his second wife, Mary Ruth Evans Lloyd, both died earlier. Survivors include his wife, Leora M. Fuson Lloyd; two daughters, Dorothy J. Stanley and Julia K. Douglas; one son, Martin Curtis Lloyd; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Dosche and Alice Everly; one stepson, Leroy E. Pierce; and two stepdaughters, Paulette Kruzan and Annette King. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in DeBaun Idaho Street Chapel, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial is in Grandview cemetery. Sophia K. Nidiffer, 79, of Terre Haute died at 5:45 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Meadows Manor North Retirement & Convalescent Center. She was born June 18, 1922, in Terre Haute to George Machango and Mary Wrojek Machango. Her husband, Walter "Bud" Nidiffer, died in 1974. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Vanlandingham; one son, Wayne Nidiffer; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy Thompson Overpeck, 88, of Indianapolis and formerly of Terre Haute died at 5 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002, in Greenbriar Manor in Indianapolis. She was born Jan. 15, 1914, in Terre Haute to William Leonard Thompson and Hester Jane Sapp Thompson. Her husband, Lester Paul Overpeck, died in 1958. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Holstein; one stepdaughter, Joan Mann; two sons, Charles Overpeck and Ronald Overpeck; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
