CARLISLE - Alvin Rex Monroe, 71, of Carlisle died 9:38 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2003, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was a retired operating engineer. He was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Sullivan County to William J. and Alta Pearl Brown Monroe. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Pope Monroe; two sons, David Joe Monroe and Roy Duane Monroe, both of Carlisle; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Sommers of Kokomo; three brothers, Albert Keith Monroe, Bernard Raymond Monroe and Richard Damon Monroe, all of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Long's Chapel Church, Carlisle Lodge 3 Free & Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Sullivan County Scottish Rite, Carlisle Order of Eastern Star 185 and 841 IOUE. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in Banks & Brust Funeral Home. Burial is in Carlisle Odd Fellows cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and before services. There will be an F&AM; memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Jacqueline L. Anderson Johnson
Jacqueline L. Anderson Johnson, 74, of Terre Haute, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in her residence. She was retired from Columbia Records after 24 years and formerly a photographer at Roots Store. She was born Sept. 7, 1929 in Danville, Ill., to Ray Price and Mary Lampin Price. Jan. 16, 1977; two stepdaughters, Deborah S. Johnson Zaborac of Owensboro, Ky., and Cynthia K. Johnson Showalter of Pittsboro; one daughter-in-law, Joyce M. Anderson Settle of Farmersburg; six grandsons, Travis A. Anderson of Farmersburg, Todd A. Zaborac of Crystal Beach, Texas, Roland J. Showalter and Ryan N. Showalter of Pittsboro, Kevin A. Johnson and Dylan W. Johnson of Houston; two granddaughters, Tamara S. Zaborac of Owensboro and Tara S. Anderson of Farmersburg. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Anthony Anderson; one stepson, Mark Alan Johnson; and one grandson, Brian E. Anderson. She was a member of Eastern Star Twelve Points Chapter 528 for more than 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, photography and spending time in her home with her family. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday in West Lawn cemetery in Farmersburg with the Rev. Alfred Riggle officiating. Cremains burial will be in West Lawn cemetery. John Michael McKillop
John Michael McKillop, 59, of Terre Haute, died at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, in his residence. He was formerly employed in retail management with Bachrach's Mens' Clothing and Baesler's. He was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Vigo County to John Daniel McKillop and Grace Hall McKillop. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer McKillop of Terre Haute; three sisters, Patricia Sullivan and husband Frank, Norma Korenski and husband Stan, and Shirley Barnett; and one brother, Don McKillop, all of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews; and a very special caregiver and friend, Diane McKillop. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hubert Leo McKillop and Leslie Wayne McKillop. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1962 and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and conservation. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the Rangers, and was an instructor at Fort Polk, La. He was also an associate member of the Marine Corps League. Memorial services are 1 p.m. today in Callahan Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Spear officiating. Visitation is 11 a.m. to services. Carl D. Swander, 78, of Terre Haute, died at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in his residence. He was a carpenter with Paitson Roofing and Siding Co. He was born Jan. 21, 1925 in Terre Haute to Charles Swander and Faye Tuttle Swander. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Verna Phillips Swander; two sons, Roy Swander of Minneapolis and Paul Swander and his wife Sarah of Indianapolis; three daughters, Karla Strohm, and Sarah Pearman and husband Chuck, all of Terre Haute, and Amanda Dabelow and husband Ryan of Avon; one brother, Morey Swander of Terre Haute; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Switzer and her husband, Matt, Joshua Strohm, Jacob Strohm, Stacey Pearman, Ryan Pearman, Chad Pearman, Sydney Dabelow and Austin Dabelow; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Forest Park Bible Church, Shriners Banjo Group and a Navy veteran of World War II, where he was stationed in Trinidad. Janet M. Meyers
Janet M. Meyers, 73, of Terre Haute, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in her residence. She was a homemaker. She was born April 3, 1930 in Terre Haute to Ray Fallowfield and Essie Bowman Fallowfield. Survivors include her husband, Robert Meyers, whom she married
Dec. 23, 1948; one son, John Meyers and wife Tami of Terre Haute; one daughter, Sharon Dyer and husband John of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Matthew, Katie and Becky Meyers, all of Terre Haute, Christopher Dyer and his fiancee Carrie McWilliams of Lafayette and Amy Dyer of Indianapolis; one brother, Joe Fallowfield and his wife Jean of Santa Paula, Calif.; one aunt, Sue Smith of Terre Haute; one sister-in-law, Mary Fallowfield of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Raymond Fallowfield. She was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association Auxiliary and the Otter Creek Democratic Club. Elsie A. Bulkley
Elsie A. Bulkley, 87, of Terre Haute, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was employed for 30 years by the Loyal Order of Moose, where she served as secretary to the Protestant and Catholic chaplains at the House of God. After retiring, she worked at Indiana State University's bookstore part-time. She was born Dec. 31, 1915 in Chicago to Gustov Novak and Frances Josephine Sloup Novak. She married
Edwin R. Bulkley in 1937 and moved to Binghamton, N.Y. Following his death July 31, 1950, she moved her family to Mooseheart, Ill in February 1951. Survivors include two sons, Edwin R. "Skip" Bulkley and wife Alberta of St. Joe Beach, Fla., W. David Bulkley and wife Mary, of South Elgin, Ill., Sally Bulkley Pancrazio and husband James of Bloomington, Ill., and Penny Gail Schafer and husband Robert of Terre Haute; one brother, William Novak and wife Erma of McHenry, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Wendi Weeks of Florida, Kerri Rodgers of Georgia, Joseph Pancrazio of Maryland, James Pancrazio, Michael Bulkley, Brian Bulkley and Jennifer Bulkey, all of Illinois, Leslie Schafer of Chicago, Justin Schafer of Tennessee, Nicholas Schafer of Indianapolis and Lauren Hayes of Tennessee; two step grandchildren, Cheryl Howell and Chris Howell of Florida; eight great-grandchildren, Khristian Brown, Stephen Pancrazio, Daniela Pancrazio, Carolina Pancrazio, Miranda Bulkley, Shannon Bulkley, David Michael Bulkley and Jason Brody Hayes; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, one of whom is Jennifer Tempest. She was preceded in death by her siblings Gustov, Milla, Rose, Annie, Ida, Josephine and Lilly. She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister. She loved to sing, play the organ and crochet. She also enjoyed plants and flowers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. today in St. Benedict's Church with the Rev. Joel Burget officiating. Her remains will be interred at Vestal Memorial Hills cemetery in Binghamton, N.Y., next to her husband. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Bennie G. Wade
Bennie G. Wade, 48, of Anderson and formerly of Terre Haute, died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born May 21, 1955 in Terre Haute to John Carruthers and Margaret Wade. Survivors include his wife, Adelle Wilkerson Wade of Anderson, whom he married

"Lonnie" Wade of Terre Haute; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Wilkerson of Anderson; and several other nieces, nephews, in-laws and relatives. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Amy I. Wade, Luna Terry and Roy Wade; two brothers, Robert A. Billings and Michael Carruthers; stepfather, Robert Billings; and several aunts and uncles. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and an active member of the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Pioneer Post 340. Services are noon today in Bethlehem Temple Church, 1432 S. 13th St., with the Rev. Henry Barnhill officiating. Burial is in Highlawn cemetery with military graveside rites. Alvin A. "Hank" Brashier
SULLIVAN - Alvin A. "Hank" Brashier, 83, of Sullivan, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in Miller's Merry Manor. He was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Sullivan County to James Arthur Brashier and Agnes Boone Brashier. Survivors include two sisters, Nina and Nella Brashier, both of Sullivan and other relatives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James Brashier, Malcolm Brashier and Nelson Brashier; and two sisters, infant Sarah Ellen Brashier and Margaret Brooks. He was a member of North Court Street Church of Christ and Sullivan American Legion. He was a World War II veteran. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Banks and Brust Funeral Home with James Davis officiating. Burial is in Center Ridge cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Kenneth Brown
FARMERSBURG - Kenneth Brown, 92, of Farmersburg, died at 6:25 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in Davis Gardens Health Care Center. He was a retired mechanic, having worked for Hayes Trucking Co. and Motor Freight Corp., retiring after 35 years. He was born Jan. 20, 1911, in Goshen to Victor Brown and Myrtle Brown. Survivors include two sons, Donald Brown and wife Marge of Florida, and Harold Brown of California; one daughter, Marilyn Amour and husband Bill of Coalmont; seven grandchildren, Teresa and John Huber, Eric Brown, Kenny Brown, Steven Brown and Diana and Brian Parinas; five great-grandchildren, Danielle Huber, Kyle Huber, Scott Huber, Brittney Parinas and Katelyn Parinas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Huffman Brown, who died Nov. 26, 2002. They were married
Oct. 28, 1934, and were married
for 68 years at the time of her death. He was a member of Farmersburg United Methodist Church. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with the Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Burial is in Farmersburg West Lawn cemetery. Visitation is noon Monday until services.
Harry A. Eberhardt Jr.
DUGGER - Harry A. Eberhardt Jr., 78, of Dugger, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born April 9, 1925 in Gary to Harry Eberhardt and Blanche Mandernach. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Kennett Eberhardt; and one son, Kenneth Dale Eberhardt. Survivors include one son, Kevin Eberhardt and wife Julie of Dugger; two daughters, Karran Bedwell and husband Ron of Shelburn and Karla Carden and husband Richard of Chesterton; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Sullivan American Legion Post 0139, Loyal Order of Moose 2517 and Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars 2459. David J. Foncannon
ROSEDALE - David J. Foncannon, 57, of Rosedale, died at 1:43 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2003, in the emergency room of West Central Community Hospital in Clinton. He was a supervisor for the Rockville Correctional Facility and had been employed by Columbia Records in Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 30, 1945 in Terre Haute to Paul R. Foncannon and Clara Szabo Foncannon. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Tarter Foncannon, whom he married
May 14, 1971, in Rockville; his mother of Lyford; one son, Tim Foncannon and wife Trisha Foncannon of Kankakee, Ill.; two brothers, Daniel Foncannon of St. Louis and Ron Foncannon of Lyford; and two grandchildren, Katelyn Foncannon and Derek Foncannon. He was a 1963 graduate of Rosedale High School and attended Indiana State University. He was an Air Force veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Tony Kashon Post 290 in Rosedale. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Gooch Funeral Home in Rockville with the Rev. Lynn D. Coleman officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be in Memory Garden cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and before services Tuesday.

ROCKVILLE - Katherine Moore, 94, of Rockville, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, in the emergency room in West Central Community Hospital in Clinton. She was a homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Palm and husband Robert of Brazil, Patty Berry and husband Dale of Rockville, and Marjorie Knott and her husband Jim of Marshall, Ind.; three sisters, Millie Conner of Florida, Dorothy Porter and Helen Jordan, both of Cayuga; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; one daughter; and one brother. She was a member of the Friends Church in Newport and Newport Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was a graduate of Cayuga High School. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Gooch Funeral Home with the Rev. Brad Bumgardner officiating. Burial is in Thomas cemetery in Newport. Ethel Mae Collinsworth, 85, of Zachary, La., died at 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, in Lane Nursing Home in Zachary. She was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Fairmont City, Ill., to Harry Wallace Watson and Jessie B. Peecher Watson. Survivors include one daughter, Joanna Marie Kelley; two sisters, Norma Horton and Alice Gemmecke; one brother, Roy Dean Watson; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
