CLINTON - Mary McCallie Banister, 91, of Clinton died at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in West Central Community Hospital. She was born June 10, 1911, in Bartholomew County to Walter M. Marsh and Minnie L. McCallie Marsh. Survivors include one daughter, Rosa Lee Woodard; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 3 p.m. Saturday in Newburn cemetery, with the Rev. Philip Brenneman officiating. Visitation is 10 a.m. until noon Saturday in Karanovich Chapel.
Rex A. Clark
SULLIVAN - Rex A. Clark, 53, of Sullivan died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in Bloomington Hospital. He was a former banker. He was born April 15, 1949, in Sullivan to George William Clark and Betty Ilene Prose Clark. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Yvonne Blevins Clark; two sons, Todd Clark of Greencastle and Chris Clark of Sullivan; two daughters, Crystal Flath and Cara Graves, both of Sullivan; his father of Carlisle; two brothers, Robert Clark of Vincennes and Donald Clark of Sullivan; one sister, Linda Ravellette of Paxton; and one grandchild, Bailey Flath. He was preceded in death by his mother. He was a member of Sullivan First Baptist Church and Sullivan Elks Lodge 911, and was affiliated with the Indiana American Heart Association. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in The Alexander-Kean Funeral Home. Burial is in Center Ridge cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 9 p.m. today. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Creek Baptist Camp.
Sunny Rose Murphy Jackson
CLINTON - Sunny Rose Murphy Jackson, 52, of Clinton died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was retired from CBS. She was born April 5, 1950, in Clinton to Lloyd Murphy and Hilda Hodge Murphy. Survivors include one brother, Mike Murphy and his wife, Linda of Clinton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Roy Skeen of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of Sacred Heart Women's Club. Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Joseph Villa officiating. Burial is in Riverside cemetery. There is no visitation. Frist Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
Jannena Dawn McIndoo
Jannena Dawn McIndoo, 57, of Terre Haute died at 11 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, in her residence. She was born April 1, 1945, in Greenwood to William Garrison and Viola Moore Garrison. Her first husband, Kenneth M. Kauffman, died in 1991. Survivors include her husband, Bill J. McIndoo; three daughters, Donna Fleenor, Dawn Jenkins and Katie Wolf; one son, William Garrison; one brother, Larry Garrison; five sisters, Patty Golden, Ellen Harden, Betty Hillenburg, Nancy Smith and Ilene Thompson; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 2:30 p.m. in Rest Lawn cemetery in Brazil, with the Rev. John J. Jones officiating. Visitation is noon until 2 p.m. Saturday in Moore Funeral Home in Brazil.
Robert L. Palmer
BLANFORD - Robert L. Palmer, 73, of Blanford died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He retired from General Telephone after 39 years of service. He was born April 21, 1929, in Terre Haute to Iva Palmer. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gibbons Palmer; three daughters, Jane Coffin and her husband, Chuck of Georgia, Christy Daniels and her husband, Eric of Clinton and Phyliss Mahoney and her husband, Carl of South Bend; three sons, Robert Palmer Jr. and his wife, Jo Ann of Pensacola, Fla., Keith Curry and his wife, Sherry of Brazil, Ken Palmer and his wife, Barbara of Blanford and Perry Palmer of Terre Haute; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his grandparents, Frank and Anna Palmer. He was a member of the Country Hope Christian Church, St. Bernice Sportsman Club and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of Terre Haute. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday in Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, with the Rev. Ansil Harpold officiating. Burial is in Sugar Grove cemetery, west of St. Bernice. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Harry B. Edwards
Harry B. Edwards, 87, of Terre Haute died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in the emergency room of Union Hospital. He was a retired auto sales manager for the former Adams Pontiac dealership. He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Mulberry, Ill., to George W. Edwards and Ella N. McCarthy Edwards. His wife, Olive Laham Edwards, died Oct. 17, 1992. Survivors include his companion, Betty Azar; one stepson, D. Stewart Freigy and his wife, Bernadette of Hardy, Ark.; two brothers, Charles Edwards and his wife, Marilyn, and Fred Edwards and his wife, Joan, all of Terre Haute; five sisters, Laura M. McManony of Evansville, Jane Tanner and her husband, Gene of Harrisburg, Ill., Mary Lou Schmidt and her husband, James of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Ruth Ozee and her husband, Glen of Cave-in-Rock, Ill., and Bessie Stone and her husband, Robert of Golconda, Ill.; two granddaughters, Carrie Ann Edwards and Nicole Edwards; and three step grandchildren, Angela Mason, James Blackburn and Michael Freigy. He also was preceded in death by one son, Donald E. Edwards, on Dec. 12, 1990; his parents; his stepmother who raised him, Loretta Briggs Edwards; one sister, Betty Beasley; and five brothers, Herbert Edwards, Howard Edwards, Benny Edwards, Johnnie Edwards and George Edwards. He also had been self-employed in his earlier life, owning service stations and car lots. He was a member of Sycamore Country Club, Zorah Shrine and Scottish Rite. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Joseph Chillington III officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
John Hogue
John Hogue, 51, of West Terre Haute died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in his residence. He was a welder for Prox Foundry in Terre Haute. He was born March 18, 1951, in Vigo County to Harold Hogue and Ruby White Hogue. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Buchanan Hogue, whom he married
Feb. 6, 1971, in West Terre Haute; two daughters, Amanda Harris and her husband, Tod and Tammy Hogue and her companion, Jeff Elkins, all of West Terre Haute; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Leanne Hogue of Terre Haute, Jim and Jeannie Hogue of West Terre Haute and Joe and Sally Hogue of Las Vegas; one sister and brother-in-law, Flora and Gib Evans of West Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Ciera Harris, Trevor Harris, Bailee Elkins, Lexus Elkins and Shyanne Elkins; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, George Buchanan; and one grandchild. He was a member of Dresser Church. Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. Burial is in Bethesda Memorial Park. James Phillip Reed
James Phillip Reed, 67, of Theodore, Ala., and formerly of Terre Haute and Sullivan, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in his residence. He worked as a boilermaker from 1965 until his retirement. He was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Sullivan to David Reed and Elsie Lowe Reed. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis of Tacoma, Wash., and Judy of Terre Haute; two sons, Billy and Jimmy, both of Tacoma; three brothers, Leslie of Las Vegas, Francis "Kern" Reed and his wife, June of Theodore and Clifford of Crown Point; one sister, Cheryl of Greencastle; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Christopher Reed; and three brothers, Estol Reed, Carl "Bud" Reed and Charles Reed. He was a former member of the Army National Guard, a member of Terre Haute Social Lodge 86 Free & Accepted Masons and a member of the Boilermakers' Local 693 of Terre Haute. Cremation was in Alabama, with his ashes to be scattered at sea. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fitzpatrick-Pearce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Wilbur officiating. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Charlotte E. Betty Ashcraft
LINTON - Charlotte E. Betty Ashcraft, 74, of Linton died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in her residence. She was born March 2, 1928, in Cass to Temes Ashcraft and Stella Alumbaugh Ashcraft. Survivors include four sisters, Avis Henderson, Lou Lucas, Janis Troxell and Trenia Tannehill; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Newkirk's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nick Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Dugger cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and before services Monday.
E. Veneda 'Neeter' Power
FARMERSBURG - E. Veneda "Neeter" Power, 88, of Farmersburg, died at 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. She was born Jan. 17, 1914, in Farmersburg to Darb Geller and Imo Manwarring Geller. Her husband, Woodrow Power, died in 1985. Survivors include one son, Woodrow Power; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday in Westlawn cemetery, with Don Ransford officiating. Visitation is 1 p.m. until services Monday in Mattox-Fidler Farmersburg Chapel.
Chad Michael Shorter
BRAZIL - Chad Michael Shorter, 22, of Brazil, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born July 15, 1980, in Terre Haute to David Thomas Shorter and Brenda Kay Helt Shorter. Survivors include his fiancee, Angela Waldon; one son, Ethan Shorter; his parents; two brothers, Shawn Shorter and Brandon Shorter; two grandmothers, Betty Helt and Mary "Dixie" Shorter; great-grandparent, Nettie Hart; two aunts; four uncles; and several cousins. Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday in Roselawn Funeral Home in Terre Haute, with the Rev. Bob Kumpf officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Evelyn L. Royse
Evelyn L. Royse, 90, of Terre Haute died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Meadows Manor North Retirement & Convalescent Center. She was a retired clerk from the Meis Store. She was born March 25, 1912, in Clinton to Thomas Faulds and Gertrude Cochran Faulds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Royse. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Donna Royse of Terre Haute, and Randy and Jane Royse of Lakeville, Minn.; two grandsons, Brian Royse and Eric Royse; two granddaughters, Michelle Royse and Stefanie Knott and her husband, Jay; two great-grandchildren, Devan Knott and Ethan Knott; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Fred Faulds, Harold Faulds and Dillus Faulds. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 43, Daughters of the Nile, Wabash Valley Senior Citizens and Maple Avenue United Methodist Church. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Roselawn Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today.

ROCKVILLE - Della Marie Bushong, 80, of rural Waveland in Parke County died at 7:18 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born June 22, 1922, in New Market to Alvin Reedy and Naomi Poynter Reedy. Her husband, Talbert Carson Bushong, died March 30, 1993. Survivors include one son, John Bushong; one daughter, Joanna VerHalen; three brothers, Leonard Reedy, Delbert Reedy and Dale Reedy; three sisters, Blanche Fosnough, Hatte Hazlett and Eve Reedy-Anders; and three grandchildren. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in Machledt & Servies Funeral Home in Waveland, with the Rev. John Kenneson officiating. Burial is in Memory Garden cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. today.

CARBON - Robert Lee Herbert, 83, of Carbon died at 5:50 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in St. Vincent Clay Hospital in Brazil. He was born July 31, 1919, in Clay County to Alva Herbert and Melissa E. Haughee Herbert. Survivors include his wife, Clara Ellen Wells Herbert; three sons, John Herbert, Randy Herbert and Robert Herbert; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Moore Funeral Home in Brazil, with Chaplin John Jones officiating. Burial is in Calcutta cemetery, with graveside military rites by the honor guard from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127 and American Legion Post 2.
