Anthony Kross, 82, of 5220 Plymouth-LaPorte Trail, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Anthony was born on April 25, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Helen (Przenicza) Kross. Anthony and Lynette Swanson were married on October 25, 1984. He has been a Marshall County resident since 1977 moving from Chicago.

Anthony served his country in WWII in the United States Navy. He owned Kross Enterprise Commercial Construction. He was a member of the Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162. He was an avid golfer and played many golf courses, but had a great passion for Swan Lake Golf Course in Plymouth.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Lynette Kross of Plymouth.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John Branch officiating. Burial will be in the Swedish cemetery in Plymouth.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's choice.

Beatrice "Betty" Burke
Born in Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 30, 1913

Beatrice J. "Betty" Burke, 94, formerly of Pretty Lake Trail, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor in Columbia City, Indiana.

Betty was born on December 31, 1913, in Detroit, Michigan, to Bernard and Beata (Welch) Burke. She moved from the Detroit, Michigan area in 1942 and had been a Marshall County resident, from that time, until her move to Columbia City. She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, active in the Rosary Society, and Harvest House. Betty was a retired secretary from the Bendix, Corporation in South Bend, Indiana.

Betty is survived by her nieces and nephews; Katherine Howe, Aileen and John Boggess, Kathleen and Jerry Bielicki, Susan and Reggie Patrus, Bryan and Enice Burke, Dennis and Sandy Burke, Michelle and Chuck Rathfelder, and Jim Helsel (nephew-in-law). She was preceded in death by her brothers; Robert Burke and John Burke, her sisters; Aileen Ziegler and Kathryn Peel; and her niece Jane Helsel.

The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, is in charge of the arrangements. A Christian Mass of Memory will be held at Saint Michael Catholic Church on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Miller's Merry Manor, "Activities Fund", 640 West Ellsworth, Columbia City, Indiana, 46725.

Kristi Lynn Houghton

Kristi Lynn Houghton, 40, formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away on February 4, 2008 in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born on September 21, 1966.

Kristi is survived by her sons, Billy and Kyle; her mother, Virginia Machlan of 404 North Plum Street, Apartment-A, Plymouth; her brothers, Shawn Houghton of Bloomington, Indiana and John Machlan of Plymouth; and her sister Carrie (Machlan) Martin of Plymouth.

A memorial service was held on February 12, 2008 in Saint Louis.

Mildred Johnson
Born in Chicago, Illinois on May 16, 1917

Mildred G. Johnson, age 90, of 625 Oak Hill Ave, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 8:24 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

Mildred was born on May 16, 1917, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Ade (Tucknott) Glennon. On November 29, 1941, Mildred married Paul S. Johnson in Chicago. They had been residents of the Marshall County area most of their lives. Mildred graduated from Englewood School of Nursing, in Chicago, and worked at several hospitals in the Chicago area. In 1999 Mildred established the Mildred Johnson Scholarship, at Ancilla College in Donaldson, Indiana.

Mildred was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Donaldson, were she was active in the ladies church group.

Mildred is survived by her two sons, Kenneth P. Johnson of Bremen and Ned G. Johnson of Oregon; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and her two sisters, Dorothy Moss and Jeanette Ramey.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Wenzel, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, Donaldson.

A time of visiting with the Johnson family will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

In lieu of flowers, the Johnson family would like for memorial contributions to be given to the Mildred Johnson Scholarship Fund, c/o Ancilla College, Post Office Box 1, Donaldson, Indiana, 46513.

Mary Benczik

Mary E. Benczik, age 91, of formerly of Plymouth, Indiana, passed away on December 31, 2007, in Rochester, Michigan.

Mary was born on April 23, 1916, in Law, West Virginia, to Steve and Rose (Versegi) Balog. On February 14, 1942, Mary and John Benczik were united in marriage. John passed away on November 11, 1985.

Mary was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, active in the Rosary Society, Right to Life, and Harvest House. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid NBA Fan.

Mary is survived by her sons, John and Sandra Benczik of Rochester, Michigan and Stephen and Denise Benczik of Plymouth; her grandchildren, James, Susan, Amy, Angela, Ryan, and Sarah. Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband John and her daughter Mary Benczik Yates.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008, in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth, with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating.

A time of visiting with Mary's family will be on Sunday, January 6, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

The Benczik family would like for memorial contributions, in Mary's name, to be given to the Good Samaritan Foundation, Puyallup, Washington, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Winfred Ousnamer

Winfred Ousnamer, age 89, of 635 Oak Hill Avenue, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 12:45 p.m., on December 28, 2007, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.

Winfred was born on February 21, 1918, in Arkansas, to Irvin and Pearl (Green) Ousnamer. He retired from Don’s Body Shop, South Bend, Indiana, as a body repairman. He also worked at Gates Chevrolet in South Bend. Winfred served his country in the United States Army during WWII.

Winfred is survived by his sons, Michael and Sharon Ousnamer of Plymouth and Eddie and Janet Ousnamer of Zephyrhills, Florida; his daughter, Carol and Jim Skinner of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and his sister Daisy Sutton, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ousnamer.

Rose McLaughlin

Rose M. McLaughlin, age 85, of 1820 Hope Boulevard, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 5:23 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007, at the University Hospital of Michigan.

Rose was born on May 27, 1922, in Stanton, Pennsylvania, to Salvatore and Gracie (Avelina) Beal. Rose and Louis P. McLaughlin were married in New Jersey, on January 7, 1942. They had been residents of the Marshall County area since 1947. Louis preceded Rose in death on August 14, 2000. Rose had been a loving wife and mother. She was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church, Plymouth.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Janis Keller of Southfield, Michigan; her son, James and Judy McLaughlin of Argos, Indiana; her sister, Joan Gilgallon of Stranton, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Debbie.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Michael Catholic Church on Friday, January 4, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the McLaughlin family on Thursday, January 3, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Conrad T. Bradley
Born in Plymouth, Indiana
passed away Dec. 27, 2007 and resided in Palm City, FL.

Conrad Bradley, 75, passed away December 27, 2007, at his home in Palm City, Florida, where he had lived for 38 years.

Conrad was born in Plymouth, Indiana, in 1932, and was the oldest son of Ellsworth and Evelyn Bradley.

Conrad had been a member of the Stuart, Florida, Moose Lodge #1282 since 1979. He was a journeyman electrician for 50 years beginning in 1970.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Catherine (Sutton) Bradley of Palm City; his daughters, Rebecca Lovern of Huntsville, Alabama, Brenda Scherer of Plymouth, Lucy Collins of North Carolina, Christina Spencer of Tennessee, and Melissa Johnson of Cocoa Beach, Florida; his sons, Michael T. Bradley of Plymouth, Arthur O’Connor Spencer of Tennessee, James Cooper of Fort Pierce, Florida, and James Wethington, Jr. of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; his brothers, Stan Bradley of Hobe Sound, Florida and Gene Bradley of Plymouth; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Patrick A. Bradley.

Services were held, with a celebration of his life, at the Moose Lodge in Stuart, Florida.

June Amor, age 72, of 6292 Michigan Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 9:23 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the home of her brother.

June was born on June 29, 1935, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Ansel and Tilda (Heyde) Amor. She had been a resident of the Marshall County Area her entire life. She retired from the United Telephone Company as a technician system operator.

June is survived by her brother, Russ and Debbie Amor of Lakeville, Indiana, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers, Leo Amor and Dale Amor.

Private graveside services were held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tyner cemetery, Tyner Indiana, with the Rev. Steven Resner officiating.

Alfred Vermillion

Alfred L. Vermillion, 97, of 222 Parkview Street, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at 10:20 a.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Alfred was born on February 13, 1910, in Marshall County, Indiana, to Laurence and Bertha (Calhoun) Vermillion. Alfred married Mary Musgrave on October 18, 1930. She passed away on November 27, 1991.

Alfred is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren; his brother, Clyde and Dorothy Vermillion of Plymouth; and his sister, Minnie Campbell of South Bend, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his sons, Tommy Vermillion and Albert Vermillion; and his grandsons, Thad and Larry.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2007, at 3:00 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be from Noon to 3:00 p.m., on Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

James Lee Jim Saunders, Jr.
December 10, 1913-December 22, 2007

Walla Walla, Washington:

James Lee Jim Saunders, Jr., 94, died December 22, 2007, at Park Plaza Retirement Residence, where he lived.

The memorial service will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2008, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, Washington. Pastor Cary Fry will officiate. Inurnment will be private in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity of donors choice through the funeral home.

Mr. Saunders was born December 10, 1913, in Warren, Ohio, to James Lee and Mina Newton Saunders. He attended high school in Canton, Ohio. He received his GED in 1993. On November 8, 1935, Jim and Eva Ellen Myers married in Bear Lake, Michigan. He worked in auto repair, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of a Bridge Club and the Walla Walla Unit of ACBL. His hobbies included coin collecting and genealogy research. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Plymouth and helped to organize the Duplicate Bridge Club in Plymouth. Mrs. Saunders died July 30, 1999.

Survivors include four sons; William David Saunders of Walla Walla, Robert Paul Saunders of Fort Meyers, Florida, Richard Glenn Saunders of South Bend, Indiana and James Lee Saunders, III of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Edith Lazorshak and his brother, Robert N. Saunders.
