James C. VanVactor, age 67, of 3735 150 East, Knox, Indiana, passed away at 1:57 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

Jim was born on July 8, 1940, in Lima, Ohio, to Joseph and Anna (Wagner) VanVactor. Jim VanVactor and Deloris Little were united in marriage on October 5, 1958 in Plymouth, Indiana. This October, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Jim joined the United States Air Force in 1958 and served for 22 years as a special agent for "OSI". He retired from the Air Force in 1979. Jim and Deloris then moved back to the Plymouth area. He was the Town Marshall of Walkerton, Indiana, before taking a position, as a deputy, with the Starke County Sheriff's Department. He retired from the Sherriff's Department after 18 years of service. Jim and Deloris raised buffalo on their farm. He was known as the "Buffalo Man" in the Knox area.

Jim was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Donaldson, Indiana, the Masonic Lodge of Knox, the Hamlet American Legion Post of Hamlet, Indiana, and had been serving on the Starke County Council.

Jim is survived by his wife, Deloris; their sons, Jeffrey and Jackie VanVactor of Bison, South Dakota, Terry L. VanVactor of Knox; their daughter, Judy Nowak of South Bend, Indiana; his brother, Jon and Ruth VanVactor of Plymouth; his sister, Joanne VanVactor of Indianapolis, Indiana; his father, Joseph (Joe) and Mardelle VanVactor of Plymouth; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna, and his brother, Bill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with the Rev. Edward Hasnerol officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post of North Judson, Indiana.

A time of visiting with Jim's family and friends, will be on Friday, June 27, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563. There will be a Masonic service held for Jim at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.

The family would like for memorial contributions to be given to the Evangelical Covenant Church, Post Office Box 67, Donaldson, Indiana, 46513.

Gary Mitchell

Gary C. Mitchell, age 68, of 1125 Ferndale Street, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 6:02 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth.

Gary was born on October 5, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Arlene (Allen) Mitchell. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Gary worked as a sales representative for several companies over the years, one of which was Pilgrim Farms of Plymouth. Sue Gill and Gary Mitchell were married on December 17, 1976. They moved back to Plymouth in 1995.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sue Mitchell of Plymouth; his daughters, Denise Mitchell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jill and Louis Smolenski and their children Katie and Erin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his sons, Steve Gill of Crown Point, Indiana, Greg and Brenda Gill and their children Greg, Jr. and Amy of Plymouth, Doug and Beth Gill and their children Bryce, Hailey, and Chase, of Wheaton, Illinois, and Mike and Helen Gill of White Lake, Michigan; his sister, Vicky and Al Allbaugh of Lolaville, Texas and their children Michael and Julie.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at the Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 South Michigan Street, Plymouth, with the Rev. John Branch officiating. A time of visiting with the family will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, is handling the arrangements.

Warren Griewank

Warren F. Griewank, 87, of 635 Oak Hill Avenue, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 5:07 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Warren was born on December 22, 1920, in Plymouth, to Ernest and Lulu (Garner) Griewank. He served his country in WWII in the United States Navy. He was assigned to serve on many Naval Air Stations as an Aviation Metal Smith. After returning home, he worked for the United States Postal Service, as a mail carrier, from 1947 to 1978. Warren had been a member of the Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162 and the American Legion Post #27.

Warren is survived by his son, Timothy and Deb Griewank of Plymouth; his granddaughters, Kelli and John Grogg of Indianapolis, Indiana and Sarah Griewank of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul M. Griewank; his infant sister, Lucille; his sister, Lois Hartman; and his brother, Howard Griewank.

Funeral services for Warren will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Dean Fager officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post # 27, Plymouth.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 12, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Plymouth Public Library or to the choice of the donor.

Robert Pranger

Robert D. Pranger, age 63, of 12252 West County Line Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

Bob was born on November 12, 1944, to George and Goldie (Dickson) Pranger, in Saint Joseph Country, Indiana.

Bob married Doris Davenport. They were married for 44 years. Together they raised their three children. Bob was the owner of Pranger Auto Salvage Yard in Plymouth.

Bob is survived by his wife, Doris; their sons, Robert and Patricia Pranger of Plymouth and Richard and Lisa Pranger of Plymouth; their daughter, Renee Bunger Pranger of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Pearl and Watson White, Jr. of Culver, Indiana, his brother, Albert and Pauline Pranger; his brother-in-law, Donald and Sandy Davenport of Plymouth; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy and David England of Plymouth and Lorraine Davenport of Tippecanoe, Indiana; a special uncle, Robert and Carolyn Davenport of Plymouth; and his life long friend, Dallas Williams of Culver. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Goldie Pranger; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond and Beatrice Davenport; his brother-in-law, Richard Davenport; and his granddaughter, Cari Pranger.

The VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, is handling the arrangements. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Marshall County Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

James E. Hughes, age 89, of 9463 Redwood Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at 12:05 p.m., at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

James was born on September 15, 1918, in Plymouth, to Walter and Ethel (Personett) Hughes. James proudly served his country during WWII, in the Army. He entered the Army on January 21, 1942 and was discharged on November 8, 1943.

James Hughes and Ruth Leazenby were united in marriage in October of 1944. Ruth passed away on June 4, 1955. James worked, and retired from, McCord Corporation in Plymouth. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1162, Plymouth.

James is survived by his sister, Mary (Don) Bottorff of Plymouth; his brother, Roy Hughes of Plymouth; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and his sister, Helen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with the Rev. Charles Krieg officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

A time of visiting with the Hughes family will be on Monday, June 2, 2008, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Raymond Macy

Raymond L. Macy, age 72, of 11686 Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 2:17 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the Bremen Community Hospital in Bremen, Indiana.

Raymond was born on April 23, 1936, in Rochester, Indiana, to Harry and Mildred (VanDuyne) Macy.

Ray was a Union Carpenter for 21 yeas and Business Representative for Indiana District Council of Carpenters and Millwrights for 21 years, until his retirement. He proudly severed his country in the United States Navy. Raymond and Jo Ann Webb were united in marriage on August 2, 1963, in Mexico, Indiana. Together they raised their three daughters.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Macy; their daughters, Kimberlee R. Macy of Plymouth, Julie A. and Steven Goble of Plymouth, and Jennifer J. Macy of Indianapolis, Indiana; two granddaughters, McKenzie Goble and Macy Goble of Plymouth; his brothers, Harry J. and Delpha Macy of Florida and Robert D. Macy of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Margaret Holdread; and his sister-in-law, Carol Macy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 3:30 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Charles Krieg officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

A time of visiting with the Macy family will be on Saturday, May 31, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Pete was born on September 15, 1920, in Marshall County, Indiana, to Dallas and Esther (Deamer) Martin. He married Kathleen Towne on September 6, 1938. They had farms on King Road, in Plymouth, and on Apple Road in Tippecanoe, Indiana.

Pete is survived by his wife, Kathleen; their daughters, Lorraine Davenport of Tippecanoe and Carol and Bob Krueger of Fort Wayne, Indiana; their son, Carl and Nancy Martin of Plymouth; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Pete was preceded in death by his son, Hugh Martin; and his sisters, Margaret Bollinger and Edith Martin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Krieg officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

John R. Christison, 75, of 11088 South Hawthorn Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 7:10 a.m. at his home.

He was born on October 18, 1932, in Virginia, Nebraska, to Paul and Josephine (Penkeua) Christison. John worked at the Plymouth Waste Water Plant. He served his county during the Korean War in the United States Army. John and Lucille White were married in Knox, Indiana on August 24, 1961. They have lived in Plymouth since 1965.

John was a member of Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162, American Legion Post #27, Plymouth Moose Lodge #741, Eagles Lodge #1900, and the Plymouth Elks Lodge.

John is survived by his wife, Lucille; his sons Gary and Stacy Christison of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Mike Christison of Irving, Texas, and John and Roxanne Christison of Plymouth; his daughters, Tina and Cleon Wagoner of Culver, Indiana and Janet and Andrew Wilson of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Pauline Christison Gall of Benton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Christison Ellinghausen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with Pastor Paul Whitworth, of Faith Baptist Church, officiating.

A time of visiting with the family will be on Friday, May 23, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563. Military rites will be presented by the American Legion Post #27, Plymouth.

Pam is survived by her husband, Wayne Myers of Plymouth; their daughter, Yavonda Myers of Warsaw, Indiana; her granddaughters, Kiara Boal and Kelsey Boal of Warsaw; her brother, Ronald Botset of Plymouth; and her aunt Pauline Fitef of Bourbon, Indiana.
