Carl Johnston, Jr., 66, 13801 State Road 17, Culver, passed away Friday, April 2, 2004 at 7:15 a.m. at his home in Culver.

He was born on November 28, 1937 in Goshen, Indiana, to Carl and Geneva (Baker) Johnston.

On July 5, 1959 in Donaldson, Indiana, Rosemary Hite and Carl Johnston, Jr. were married . They had been married for 44 years.

Carl graduated from Bourbon High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He worked for United Technologies for 37 years and was a member of the Plymouth Moose lodge #741.

Carl is survived by his wife, Rosemary, their daughter, Angela Becktel of Plymouth, their son, Brian Johnston of Culver, their granddaughter, Danielle Becktel of Plymouth, his father, Carl Johnston of Bourbon, his brother, Bob Johnston of Indianapolis, Indiana, his half-brothers; Arthur Winkle of Bourbon and Richard Winkle of Indianapolis, Indiana. Carl was preceded in death by his mother Geneva Sheaks and his step-mother Betty Johnston.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with Rev. Charles Krieg officiating. Burial will be in Burr Oak cemetery.

Friends may call Monday, April 5, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth.

Catherine L. Cox, 94, of 12563 Hillside Drive, Plymouth, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 8:40 a.m. at the Catherine Kasper Life Care Center, Donaldson.

She was born on February 25, 1910 in Polk Township to Hugh and F. Elizabeth (Bluebaugh) Biggins.

Catherine married Leonard Cox on May 29, 1941. He passed away in 1952.

She was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also had been a volunteer at the hospital as a Pink Lady.

Catherine is survived by her son, Harold and Sherry Cox of Plymouth, her daughters; Dorothy and Larry Starr of Plymouth, Marilyn Justice of Plymouth, and Marie and Dennis Cannan of Plymouth. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Margaret Niday of Peoria, Arizona. She was preceded in death by two of her grandsons; Jason and David, and her brother Lewis Biggins.

Services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, with Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery.

Visitation with the family, will be Friday, April 2, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Saint Michael's Catholic Church, 612 North Walnut Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Suzanne M. Ross

Suzanne M. Ross, 61, of 16870 State Road 17, Culver, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 7:59 a.m. in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

She was born on February 23, 1943, in Plymouth, to Ray and Bonnie (Sherland) Bope and was a lifetime area resident.

On August 30, 2002, Suzanne and Robert Ross were married .

Suzanne was a member of the Culver V.F.W. Auxiliary # 6919 and the Plymouth American Legion Auxiliary. She was well known at the Culver V.F.W. dining room for her friendly, bright smile, as she maintained the hungry lunch crowd that came in.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, her sons; Charles and Nikki Evans of Winamac, Stephen and Sara Naylor-Evans of Plymouth, and Mark Schall of Plymouth, her daughters; Kelly Evans of LaPorte, and Traci and Brian McIntire of Culver. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, eight step-grandchildren, three step-daughters; Diana Hanson, Susan Discotti, and Cindy Kennedy, all of Illinois, her mother, Bonnie Bope of Plymouth, her sisters; Toni Samuels of Plymouth, Billi and Troy Brantley of Plymouth, and Jamie and Chris Lapp of Michigan, her brothers; Ray, Jr. and Sharon Bope of Plymouth and Steve and Olice Bope of Texas. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Evans and by her father, Ray Bope, Sr.

Services will be held Sunday, April 4, 2004, at 2:00 p.m at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Rev. Robert Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Culver Masonic cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 3, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth. There will be a V.F.W. Auxiliary service held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Culver E.M.S. or to the Culver Fire Department.

Jessie M. Holland, 95, 600 Oak Hill Avenue, Plymouth, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004 at 3:17 p.m. in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

She was born on September 21, 1908 in Marshall County to Burt and Naomi (Wilson) Bradley. She had been a Marshall County resident most of her life. She lived in Florida for seven years.

Jessie and Floyd (Tom) Holland were married on November 5, 1927. Tom passed away in 1997.

Jessie was a member of the Plymouth Baptist Church, Marshall County Homemakers Extension in LaPaz, and had been singing with the Marshall County Extension Choir for several years. She graduated from LaPaz High School in 1926. Jessie worked as a seamstress in her home as well as in a bridal shop in South Bend.

Jessie is survived by her son, Ted and Peggy Holland of Bourbon, her daughter, Marilyn and Jim Culia of Mentor, Ohio, her daughters-in-law; Beverly Holland of Florida, Phyllis Dill of California, and Cindy Holland of North Carolina, her son-in-law, Jesse Mullins of Argos. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons; Floyd (Sandy) Holland, Wayne K.Holland, and James Holland, her daughter, Ina Dean Mullins, and a brother and sister.

Services will be held Friday, April 2, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Rev. Douglas Jividen officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 1, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to The Plymouth Baptist Church, 11345 9 A Road, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.

Andrew J. Hochstetler, 27, of 817 North Michigan Street, Plymouth, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 7:07 a.m. in Goshen Hospital after a car accident.

He was born on September 16, 1976 in Bremen, to Alton and Jill (Jones) Hochstetler.

He was employed by Keystone Recreational Vehicle industry in Goshen.

Andrew is survived by his mother and step-father, Jill and Mark Engle of Plymouth, his father and step-mother, Alton and Thelma Hochstetler of Argos, his step-brother, Joshua Engle of Plymouth, his paternal grandmother, Jean Engle of Plymouth, and maternal grandfather, James (Pete) Wickey of Plymouth. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Hochstetler, his maternal grandmother, Rosalie Wickey, and his paternal grandfather, Edward Engle.

Services will be held Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth. Cremation will take place. Andrew will be buried with his brother in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth, at a later time.

Friends may call Wednesday, March 31, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth.

Evangelina Smith, 64, of 123 Candy Lane, Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 9:20 a.m. at her son's home in Rochester.

She was born on August 2, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas to Seferino and Agueda (Rodriquez) Fuentes. They moved to Plymouth in 1960.

Evangelina was a member of the Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth and had worked for the Heher International Incorporated in Plymouth.

Evangelina is survived by two daughters; Tina and Steve Wagers and Samantha Smith both of Plymouth, four sons; Mike and April Smith of Etna Green, Paul Daniel Smith of Plymouth, James and Patricia Smith of Utah, and Christopher and Jacquelyn Smith of Rochester. Also surviving are; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and two sisters; Maria Zarazua of Plymouth and another sister in Texas, five brothers; Alberto Fuentes of Elkhart, three brothers in Texas, and one brother in Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Plymouth, with Father William Kummer officiating.

Susie M. Chart, 90, 14462 Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at 1:25 a.m. in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.

She was born on June 20, 1913 in LaPaz to Rollie and Mary (Nunemaker) Snyder.

Susie married Glen Chart on March 27, 1937 in Plymouth. He passed away July 15, 1990.

Susie was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church for almost 60 years.

Susie is survived by her son, David Chart of Mishawaka, and her brother, Harold Snyder of Florida. She was preceded in death by her son, Earl.

Services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. in the Plymouth Wesleyan Church with Rev. Lyle Breeding officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery.

Services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home in Plymouth, with Pastor Rustin Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery.
