Christopher O. "Linebacker" Hopkins
Christopher O. "Linebacker" Hopkins, 42, Orestes, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, at Holzer Medical Center Jackson, Ohio after a sudden illness.
He was born on September 14, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and LaQuieta (Eiler) Hopkins.
He was president of the Chosen Brotherhood Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by four children, Amber (husband, Riley) Hopkins Guthrie of Anderson, Devon Hopkins of Elwood, Jennifer Hopkins of Connecticut, and Shane Mowrey of Lapel; his father, George Hopkins of Irving, TX; his mother, LaQuieta Hopkins of Anderson; his fiance, Christina McWilliams of Orestes; and six grandchildren, Sahara, Jaden, Akilah, Rylie, Robyn, and Lexi.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Arnett officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Sharon K. Howell
Sharon K. Howell, 65, Lapel, passed away Friday, April 15, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born on April 2, 1940, in Anderson, Indiana to Hubert and Audrey (Tinsley) Cox.
She retired in 1993 from Guide Division of GM and was a member of the UAW local 663.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Howell; three children, Kathleen (husband, Bryon) Meyer of Carmel, Thomas Howell of Lapel, and Brian (wife, Christie) Howell of Lapel; three brothers, Hubert (wife, Elsa) Cox, Jr. of Brawley, CA, Harry Cox of Anderson, and Ronald (wife, Sharon) Cox of Anderson; five grandchildren, Valerie Howell, Ian Howell, Eric Meyer, Kevin Meyer, and Dylan Meyer; and one great granddaughter, Zoe Aspen Spitz.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

L. Lucille Huffman
L. Lucille Huffman, 76, Lapel, died Sunday, December 18, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born March 6, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jacob Edward and Anna Marie (Pippert) Klinefelter.
She was a 1947 Anderson High School graduate and she had been employed at one time in the cafeteria at Lapel School and at Fort Benjamin Harrison.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, David Huffman; three children, Sherry Warrum of Anderson, Cindy (husband, Tom) Stephenson of Anderson, and David (wife, Sandy) Huffman of Middletown; nine grandchildren, Dennis (wife, Caroline) McGlacken of Fishers, Shelly (husband, Rich) Hogan of Pendleton, Matthew (wife, Megan) Warrum of Fishers, Joshua Warrum of Anderson, Brian (wife, Jennifer) Stephenson of Indianapolis, Kevin (wife, Mollie) Stephenson of Martinez, Georgia, Jamie (wife, Kelly) Huffman of Anderson, Jeff (wife, Amie) Huffman of Tucson, Arizona, and Lisa (husband, Nathan) Oldham of Markleville; and eleven great-grandchildren, Katie McGlacken, Blake Hogan, Brody Hogan, Damieon Warrum, Sally Stephenson, Melanie Stephenson, Abigail Stephenson, Cameron Huffman, Tanner Huffman, Zoe Huffman, and Avery Oldham.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel with Rev. Steve Duffitt officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Lois M. Hughes
Lois M. Hughes, 87, Anderson, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2005, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson following an extended illness..
She was born on March 10, 1918, in Anderson, Indiana the daughter of Charles and Maude (Garrison) Hoover.
She was a life long resident of the Anderson area and graduated form Anderson High School in 1936. Shortly after this, she met and married
J. Robert Hughes in their first home located on 2705 Nichol Avenue in Anderson. They later moved to Laurel Lane where they have resided for the last 38 years. She and her husband just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2004.
Lois retired from National City Bank after 20 years of faithful service in 1985. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church for many years. During this time she served as the pianist for the primary department for several years and was also active in several other church groups. Later she became a member of Southern Heights Christian Church and continued her active particiaption within her new church home.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her loving husband, J. Robert Hughes whom she married
December 10, 1938; one son, Thomas E. Hughes of Anderson; three grandchildren, Robert C. (wife, Jina) Hughes, David T. Hughes, and Elissa M. (husband, Valentin) Avina; and four great-grandchildren, Kami and Devon (children of David) and Marisa and Valentin, Jr. (children of Elissa).
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Edward E. "Jack" Jones
Edward E. "Jack" Jones, 84, Noblesville, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Riverview Hospital Noblesville following a sudden illness.
He was born on May 4, 1921, in Washington Courthouse, Ohio the son of Thomas and Nora (Bennett) Jones.
He retired in 1975 from Delco Remy and had then worked for ten years at the Noblesville Wal-mart. He had pastored for over 50 years and was an evangelist for more than half that time. He also farmed for many years.
He was a member of the Central Community Chapel in Anderson where he was once the pastor.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jones; four children, Edward (wife, Glenda) Jones, Jr. of Mayfield, KY, Patsy (husband, Bill) Peterson of Columbus, OH, Norma Saathoff of Anderson, and Christopher Jones of Noblesville; a half-brother, Roger Jones of Ohio; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Maxine Sallee Jones in 2003.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Richard "Dick" Gregg officiating. Military graveside rites and burial will be at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.

Robert D. King, Sr
Robert D. King, Sr., 74, formerly of Lapel, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005, in Plant City, Florida following an extended illness.
He was born January 28, 1931, in Monticello, New York, the son of Edward R. and Hilda King .
He was a retired truck driver for Butler Trucking in Indianapolis.
He is survived by four children, Shar Clements, Kathy Cowan, Carol Harrell and Richard King; two brothers, George King and Leon King; two sisters Agnes VanAken and Amy King; his companion Marjorie Carter; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jessie; a son Robert King Jr.; and two brothers, Eugene and Edward King.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
The family will receive friends at the Lapel American Legion following the service.
Dessie Mirlene Kirby
Dessie Mirlene Kirby, 66, Frankton, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, at her daughter's home in Frankton. She was born on August 13, 1938, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Chester and Mary (Riggins) Hickman.
She had been a cook in several restaurants in the area including the Omni, and Wheelers and she once owned the Highway Cafe (or Airport Cafe) in Elwood. She had spent the last eight years enjoying her grandchildren
She attended the Lone Oak Wesleyan Church and she was committed to giving to help feed people locally and abroad. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by three children, Robert Jannings of Lapel, Pamela R. (husband, Charles "Ed") Moore of Frankton, and Scott H. Johnson of Farmland; one brother, Ernest Ray Hickman of Noblesville; two sisters, Carma Dorah of Bristol, and Jo Ann Smith of California; nine grandchildren, Billy (wife, Christy) Jannings, Melissa Jannings (fiance, John Miller), Austin Jannings, Lindsey Jannings, Christy Rene Cobb (fiance, Bill Burton), Chuck Moore (fiance, Jessica Benefield), Haley (husband, Jeremy) Morrison Morrison, Sarah Ann Johnson, and Selena J. Johnson; and five great grandchildren, Collin Ray Jannings, Leigha R. Cobb, Jailyn Bugby, Allison Morrison, and Dominick Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Kirby in 1997; and by her parents.
A memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. William Abresch officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

Beulah Pearl Manis
Beulah Pearl Manis, 95, Lapel, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville following an brief illness.
She was born on March 23, 1910, in Eagletown, Indiana and had lived in Lapel most or her life.
She was a 1928 Lapel High School graduate and she was retired from Delco Remy.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years and wsa a member of the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457. She was a published poet and had articles to the paper up to age 92.
She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis (husband, Jerry) Hiatt of Lapel; two grandchildren, Kim (husband, Kurt) Jones of Lapel, and Kent (wife, Dawn) Hiatt of Anderson; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Earl Manis in 1977; a sister, Atalene Stuart; and a grandson, Ronald Gene Hiatt.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.

Mabel Mae McClintick
Mabel Mae McClintick, 89, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following a sudden illness.
She was born on November 27, 1915, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Edward and Ettie (McNew) Peters.
She was a Lapel High School graduate and was member of T. O. P. S. she also enjoyed decorating cakes.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane (husband, Steve) Clouse of Lapel; five grandchildren, Kenneth A. (wife, Donna) Bourke, Michelle Hobbs, Angela (husband, Terry) Jackson, Melissa (husband, Matt) Bannon, and Mike Clouse all of Lapel; and seven great grandchildren, Stephanie Bourke, Derek Faust, John Jackson, Dylan Hobbs, Tyler Hobbs, Kenneth C. Bourke, and Peyton Bannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles James McClintick whom she married
November 27, 1938; her daughter, Janiece Bourke; a grandson, Jason Faust; one brother, Clifford Peters; and two sisters, Ruth Modlin, and Evelyn Shull.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Howard (Junior) Mills
Howard "Junior" Mills, 83, Noblesville, passed away Friday, February 11, 2005 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville following an extended illness.
He was born on June 26, 1921, in Hamilton Co., Indiana to Howard, Sr. and Margaret (Woodward) Mills.
He was a 1939 Lapel High School graduate and he received his dregee in pharmacy from Butler University in 1951. He served in the Air Force as a Tech Sgt in the Pacific Theater during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He was the manager of the former Gwinns Drugs in Lapel for many years and had also been employed by Hooks and CVS in Anderson, Tipton, and Noblesville.
He was a member of Faith Community Church in Noblesville and was president of the West Central Community School Board from 1973 to 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Gaugle, Brown) Mills whom he married
on October 16, 1946; one son, John (wife, Camille) Mills of Seattle, WA; a step-son, J. Michael (wife, Paula) Brown of Boerne, TX; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne C. Mills; two brothers, Harry Eugene Mills, and Joe Richard Mills; and a sister, Mary Kay Weaver.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Allan Hazen officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.
