Robynn and Joshua Delph

Robynn L. Delph, 41, and Joshua I. Delph, 9, both of Anderson, passed away Monday May 17, 2004, at their residence.

Robynn was born on May 25, 1962, in Napoleon, Ohio to Ralph and Faye (St. Clair) Gasche. She worked as a waitress at Bob Evans in Anderson.

She was active in the Anderson Big Brothers and Big Sisters and was the lead singer at the Buffalo Lightening Way Lodge.

Joshua was born on March 18, 1995, in Anderson. He was a third grade student at Forest Hills Elementary School and was involved in the Peace Keepers.

They are survived by their husband and father, David Delph; parents and grandparents, Ralph and Faye Gasche of Delta, OH; mother-in-law and grandmother, Minnie Delph of Lapel; father-in-law and grandfather, Rex Delph of Tuscon, AZ; brother and uncle, Kent (wife, Kori) Gasche of Delta, OH; sister and aunt, Julie (husband, Dave) Baker of Delta, OH; brother-in-law and uncle, Jon (wife, Jennifer) Delph of Washington; brother-in-law and uncle, Bob Wozniak and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

They were preceded in death by a sister and aunt, Beth Wozniak.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Tom Hoehner officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Elizabeth F. Elkins

Elizabeth F. Elkins, 90, Noblesville, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Riverview Hospital Noblesville following a brief illness.

She was born on October 15, 1913, in Pendleton, Indiana to Arthur and Lula (Spall) Kramer.

She is survived by five children, Marvin (wife, Phyllis) Elkins of Cape Coral, FL, Frances Drake of Crestwood, KY, Sherry Elkins of Cave Creek, AZ, Donna (husband, Alvin) Losh of Noblesville, and Betty (husband, Kenny) Wiley of Fortville; one sister, Marge (husband, Paul) Dial of Zephyrhills; one brother, Raymond "Red" (wife, Jeanne) Kramer of Lapel; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Elkins in 1982.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Brookside cemetery in Lapel with Rev. Stephen Hancock officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Vernon Fisher

Vernon Fisher, 88, Lapel, passed away Monday, February 9, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on January 18, 1916, in Hamilton County, IN to Frank and Maude (Lambertson) Fisher.

He retired in 1974 from Guide Lamp after 38 years of employment.

He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and the U. A. W. Local 663. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and also enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Duncan) Fisher; three children, Linda (husband, Bill) Hormell of Lapel, Robert (wife, Lynn) Fisher of Anderson, and Liz (husband, Steve) Reddick of Anderson; ten grandchildren, Jim (wife, Penny) Hormell, Mike (wife, Linda) Hormell, David (wife, Kathy) Hormell, Shelley (husband, Curtis) Chapman, Rob (wife, Claudia) Fisher, Tracy (husband, Brad) Davis, Christi Williams, Teresa Meyers, Angie (husband, Bob) McClintock, and Amanda (husband, Pat) Kern; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel.

John A. Forney, Jr.

Rev. John A. Forney, Jr., 77, Lapel, passed away Friday April 9, 2004 at Saint John's Health System Anderson, after a sudden illness.

He was born on August 15, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Olive (Ormsby) Forney.

He served as pastor at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Camby, Indiana, First Baptist Church in Cloverdale, and Community Baptist Church in Greencastle.

He attended Victory Baptist Church in Anderson. He was a veteran of the US Navy, and US Marine Corps. He was a printer for the Best Lock Corp.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Louise (Edwards) Forney; four children, daughter, Tressa (husband, Larry) Shepherd of Pendleton, son, Paul (wife, Lorenda) Forney of Trenton, GA., son, Matthew (wife, Michelle) Forney of Anderson; six grandchildren, Scott (wife, Amy) Shepherd of Lapel, Andy (wife, Deb) Shepherd of Lapel, Julie (husband, Ed) Achenbach of Lapel, Lisa (husband, Patrick) Gibson of Chattanooga, TN., Bradley Forney of Anderson, and Nicholas Forney of Anderson; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Maxine (husband Joe) Kamleiter of Florida, Rita Jean Lewis of Georgia, Bonnie Vada Lile of Texas, and Charna (husband Wayne) Cox of Indianapolis; and serveral nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with Rev Ken King officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Helen A. Gentry

Helen A. Gentry, 95, former Noblesville and Anderson resident, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield following an extended illness.

She was born on June 9, 1909, in Hamilton Couty, Indiana to Scott and Amy (McDonald) Anderson.

She had worked in several Anderson department stores as a seamstress in their tailor shops and she retired from the Dorthy Blevins Shop in 1973. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Gentry in 1984.

She was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church and she entered the Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457 in 1932 and served as Worthy Matron in 1940. She was also a member of R. S. V. P. in Anderson.

She is survived by one daughter, Rita (husband, William) Hunt of Anderson; two grandchildren, Tim (wife, Nancy) Hunt, and Angelia (husband, Don) Wilson both of Anderson; four great grandsons, Daniel Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Joseph Barcus, and Jonathan Barcus all of Anderson; two step-granddaughters, Alexis Wilson and Raquel Wilson both of Alexandria; special nieces, Viola Goldstein of Las Vegas, NV, Norma Leeman, and Sherry Minton both of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, Lapel with Rev. Tom Lutz officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service Saturday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church, 3743 West Nichol Avenue, Anderson, Indiana 46011.

Helen Griffin

Helen Griffin, 59, Noblesville, passed away Friday, September 24, 2004, at Sycamore Village Healthcare in Kokomo following an extended illness.

She was born on January 29, 1945, in Gray Hawk, Kentucky to Ruben and Lillie (Parrott) Sams.

She is survived by her mother, Lillie Roberts of Noblesville; nine brothers and sisters, Ed Sams of Shreveport, LA, Adrian Sams of Kokomo, Charles Sams of Atlanta, Dallas Sams of Kokomo, Rubin Sams of Batesville, Lucille DeBarr of Atlanta, Carolyn Schreibeis of Sunman, Mollie Menchaca of Noblesville, and Chrystlene Summers of Tompkinsville, KY; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Griffin; and her daughter, Ramona Faust.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

M. Frances Hall

M. Frances Hall, 68, Lapel, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness.

She was born on October 3, 1936, in Pennington Gap, Virginia to Marion and Stella (Johnston) Hall.

She retired in 1992 from Owens-Brockway in Lapel after 17 years of employment.

She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and the Lapel Eagles Auxillary.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence Hall of Lapel; two daughters, Vickie Denham of Noblesville, and, Carmen Griffin of Lapel; two step-children, Michael Hall of Carmel, and Cathy Hall of Lawrence; one sister, Diana (husband, Bob) Simmerman of Lapel; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to any charity for abused children or Riley Children's Hospital.

Dale Hersberger

Dale Hersberger, 78, Anderson, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2004, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following a brief illness.

He was born on December 11, 1925, in Madison County, Indiana to Dale and Sharley (Stottlemyer) Hersberger.

He was a 1943 Lapel High School graduate and he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired in 1974 from the Anderson Fire Department and was the owner and operator of Hersberger Realty in Anderson.

He was a member of the Wesley Free Methodist Church in Anderson, member and past president of both the Gideons International Madison Counthy North Camp and the Frankton Lions Club.

He is survived his wife, Mary (Dickerson) Hersberger; three sons, Rodney (wife, Susan) Hersberger of Bakersfield, CA, Bradley Hersberger of Alexandria, and Brian (wife, Sherry) Hersberger of Pendleton; four step-children, Susan (husband, David) Smith of Anderson, Paul (wife, Polly) Keesling of Columbia, TN, Elaine Toles of Markleville, and Lisa Keesing (friend, Mark Easley) of Anderson; one brother, Keith Hersberger of Anderson; two sisters, Jean Henley of Yorktown, VA, and Harriett Spearman of Anderson; twelve grandchildren, Mark Hersberger, Kate (husband, Brad) Greenberg, Lyndsey Wright, Leslie Hersberger, Zach Wright, Kevin Smith, Leigh Smith, Jason, Keesling, Adam Smith, Ian Keesling, Diane Smith, and Justin Holbrook; and four great grandchildren, Bryce Smith, Ashton Keesling, Reagan Arthur, and Collin Keesling.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Shuter) Hersberger in 1999; two sisters, Virginia Dillie and Vivian Williams; and one brother, Kenneth Hersberger.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Wesley Free Methodist Church in Anderson with Rev. John Lane officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Sarilda E. Hooper

Sarilda E. Hooper, age 91, died on Saturday August 21, 2004 at the Miller Merry Manor after a brief illness.

She was born on October 6, 1912 in Seymore, Indiana, daughter of John and Edna (Ginder) Bohall.

She is survived by four children, Beverly (husband, Harold) Dashiell of Noblesville, Carole Loughman of Anderson, David (wife, Rebecca) Hooper of Anderson, and Sherry McCorkle of Pendleton; three sisters, Ruth Tuttle of Fortville, Ann Kendricks of Fortville, and Jean Cross of Greenfield; thirteen grandchildren, a granddaughter she raised Michelle (Hooper) Hanners, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ora M. Hooper, two sons, Richard Neal Hooper, John Dennis Hooper and daughter Terry Jarrell; five sisters, Mary Trueblood, Irene Husted, Laura Short, Elsie Freeman, and Mildred Hibbs; a brother John Bohall.

A special thanks to Miller's Merry Manor nursing staff, and a very special thanks to Betty Jo and Sandy.

Service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home at 1010 North Main Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home.

Ivan G. Horning

Ivan G. Horning, 78, Anderson, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2004, at his residence.

He was born on August 14, 1925, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Andrew and Alice (Bannister) Horning, Sr..

He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean War, and retired in 1980 from Delco Remy after 31 years of employment.

He was a member of the Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Lapel American Legion Post 212 and the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Illges) Horning; four children, Vicky (husband, Charles) Schroeder of Noblesville, Mike (Kim Wilson) Horning of Anderson, Susan (Bill Savage) Gray of Anderson, and Gerald (wife, Susan) Horning of Elwood; two sisters, Dorothy (husband, Ralph) Martin of Columbus, and Mary Kreig of Leesburg, FL; nine grandchildren, Angela DeVaney, Chrissy Manis, Jami Horning, Randi Shuck, Alex Shuck, Andy Horning, Adrienne Horning, Kirtis Horning, and, Kasey Horning; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at the Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Margie R. Humphrey

Margie R. Humphrey, 87, Anderson, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following a brief illness.

She was born on January 12, 1917, in Clinton County, Indiana to Walter and Ruby (Earlywine) Henderson.

She attended Bethel United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Longfellow Plaza for the last 15 years.

She is survived by one son, Jim (wife, Joyce) Humphrey of Anderson; one sister, Norma Lay of St. James City, FL; two grandchildren, Susan (husband, Larry) Downey of Pendleton, and Dennis (wife, Tracy) Humphrey of Pendleton; five great grandchildren, Amanda Downey, Austin Downey, Megan Humphrey, Ian Humphrey, and Zachary Humphrey.

She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Humphrey in 1985; a son, John Humphrey; and a grandson, David Humphrey.

Services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Brian Bays officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
