Stephen M. Meyers

Stephen M. Meyers, 38, Lapel, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2003, at Riverview Hospital Noblesville after a sudden illness.

He was born on May 31, 1965, in East Chicago, Indiana to Jim and Kay (Herman) Meyers.

He was a driver for O'Leary Transport and was a member of the Ewing, IL Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa (Reddick) Meyers whom he married May 3, 2003; a step-son Dylan Cantor of Lapel; his father, Jim (wife, Nancy) Meyers of New Castle; his mother, Kay Meyers of Lapel; one brother, Scott (wife, Michelle) Meyers of Lapel; three half-brothers, John Meyers of New Castle, Tim Meyers of Lebanon, and Tom Meyers of Lebanon; a half-sister, Shelley (husband, Jason) Winter of Mooreland; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Herman of Greenwood; two nieces and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Adam Meyers.

Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home

James M. Millikan

James M. Millikan, 80, Noblesville, died April 14, 2003, at Manor Care Health Services in Anderson following an extended illness.

He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II and he retired in 1980 from Delco Remy as a shipping foreman.

Survivors include his two children, Rita (husband, Fred) Dailey and Jim (wife, Connie) Millikan; two brothers, Warren Millikan and Jack Millikan; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His wife, Virginia (Edrington) Millikan died in 1994.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with the Rev. Evan L. Lash officiating. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lapel, IN 46051-0606.

Dick Mills

Joe Richard "Dick" Mills, 69, Lapel, passed away Saturday January 25, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida following an extended illness.

He was born on May 08, 1933, in Lapel to Howard and Margaret (Woodward) Mills, Sr.

Though he retired in 1990 from Kerr Glass in Dunkirk, Joe had been employed for several years by Brockway Glass in Lapel He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel.

He is survived by his wife, Idabelle (Renbarger) Mills; five children, Kim Mills of Winchester, Jerry (wife, Janet) Mills of Roann, Mickey (wife, Brenda) Mills of Lapel, Jim (wife, Dee) Mills of Pendleton, and Shelly (husband, Bill) Busch of Noblesville; one brother, Howard (wife, Carol) Mills, Jr. of Noblesville; eighteen grandchildren, Shane Mills, Michael Mills, Erica Mills, Levi Mills, Joseph Aaron Mills, Arrick Tyler Mills, Kathleen Mills, Matthew Mills, Jayson Mills, Darrick Mills, Morgan Mills, Hunter Mills, Mason Mills, Brooks Busch, Parker Busch, Dalton Busch, and Dane Busch; and two great-grandchildren, Brauch Mills and Phoenix Mills.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Mills; and a sister, Mary Kay Weaver.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Ed Purciful officiating. Private family graveside services will be held at Brookside cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 606, Lapel, Indiana 46051 or the Lapel High School Athletic Department, 2883 South State Road 13, Lapel, Indiana 46051.

Myrtle I. Montgomery

Myrtle I. (Stottlemyer) Montgomery, 87, Lapel, passed away Wednesday February 5, 2003, at Miller's Senior Living Center in Indianapolis after a brief illness.

She was born on July 3, 1915, in Madison County, Indiana to Harry and Jessie (Graham) Stottlemyer.

She was a 1933 Lapel High School Graduate and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel.

She is survived by a brother-in-law, Gene Montgomery of Phoenix, AZ; a sister-in-law, Grace Whitmer of San Diego, CA; three cousins, Dean Presser of Lapel, Ruth Boone Herron of Lapel, and Arlene Pettigrew of Lapel; and her caregivers, Margaret and Sergio Comarella of Fishers.

She was preceded in death on November 16, 1989 by her husband Joseph J. Montgomery whom she married July 28, 1935.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev.s Evan Lash and Duane Stidham officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Carlis Norris

Carlis Norris, 81, Lapel, passed away Tuesday May 6, 2003 at Rawlins House Pendleton following a brief illness.

He was born on September 10, 1921 in Burksville, Kentucky to Bradley and Gladys (Anderson) Norris.

He was a member of of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by a son, Jay (wife, Jeanette) Norris of Mongo, IN., one daughter, Carolyn (husband, Steve) Closser of Anderson, Seven Grandchildren Todd (wife, Dawn) Norris of Poland, IN, , Tracey Norris of San Antonio, TX., Tami (Fiance, Kenny Shackelfurd) Morgan of Muncie, Dennis (wife, Tracey) Norris of Lagrange, Jennifer (husband, Terry) Bilbrey of Anderson, Stephanie (husband, Chad) Crawley of Anderson, Kim (husband, Mark) Jones of Lapel,; Five Great Grandchildren Brock Morgan, Janea Norris, Janell Norris, Jamie Jarrett, Dalton Jarrett,; and one sister, Ruby (husband, Ed) McIntire of Pigeon Forge, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents David and Gladys Norris; his wife Margaret (Harless) Norris in September 30, 2002; and five brothers Clarence Norris, Bob Norris, Willie Norris, and James Norris.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel where the Lapel American Legion Post 212 will perform military graveside rites.

Friends may call 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

Becky Orbik

Becky Sue (Hobbs) Orbik, 45, Anderson, passed away Thursday January 23, 2003, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born on November 2, 1957, in Noblesville to Bill and Lavonne (Brantlinger) Hobbs. She was a 1976 Lapel High School graduate. She is survived by her husband, Stan Orbik whom she married on December 31, 1981; three children, Jay (wife, Jennifer) Orbik of Anderson, Jeff Orbik of Anderson, and Andrea (husband, Andy) Hunt of Anderson; her parents, Bill and Lavonne Hobbs of Lapel; two sisters, Debbie (husband, Bill) Jarvis, and Penny (husband, Jim) Hormell both of Lapel; her paternal grandmother, Laura Hobbs of Dryden, VA; a sister-in-law, Robin Orbik of Ft. Wayne; four grandchildren, Bryawna Orbik, Austin Orbik, Sydney Hunt, and Bailey Hunt; four nieces and nephews Kimberly Graham, Dana Jarvis, Darrell Jarvis, and Aaron Jarvis. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating.. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 8646 Guion Road Indianapolis, IN, 46268.

Edith Arlene Pettigrew

Edith Arlene Pettigrew, 70, Lapel, passed away Wednesday May 14, 2003, at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on June 16, 1932, in Madison County, Indiana to Clifford Ross Moore (born April 5, 1877, died August 20, 1949) and Rowena (Stottlemyer) Moore (born January 13, 1895, died April 9, 1985).

She was baptized on Easter Sunday in 1945, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel and was a 1951 Lapel High School Graduate.

On October 27, 1951, she married Lapel resident, Robert Pettigrew, (born February 23, 1928, died December 7, 2000) in Ozark, Alabama.

She retired from Guide Lamp (Delphi division of General Motors) after 30 years of employment.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Pettigrew (wife, Linda) of Anderson, and Randie Pettigrew (wife, Valerie) of Round Lake Beach, IL; a nephew, Kent Hesson of Lapel; a niece, Karen Wright of Bradenton, FL; and a great-nephew, Chris Hesson of Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, Clifford Moore, Jr. and Charles Wilbur Moore; and a sister, Betty C Huntzinger.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Brookside cemetery in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery

There will be no calling hours.

Wilma C. Smith

Wilma C. Smith, 78, Lapel, passed away Thursday August 28, 2003, at Riverview Hospital Noblesville following an extended illness.

She was born on January 22, 1925, to William and Faye (Palmer) Charles.

She was a member of the Lapel Golden Glows and the Kennard Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

She is survived by two children, Cinda (husband, Brad) Wilcox and Archie Dean Smith both of Anderson; five grandchildren, Jason Wilcox, Amber Wilcox, Ryan Wilcox, Gary Smith, and, Shawn Parks; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Genevieve Fox of Seabring, FL; and many friends.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Miller cemetery in Middletown.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Lynn V. Stafford

Lynn V. Stafford, 61, Fortville, passed away Monday January 6, 2003, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following a sudden illness. He was born on July 11, 1941, in Washington, Indiana to Ralph and Anna (Vance) Stafford. He had been employed by American States Insurance and was currently working as a private computer programmer/analyst .He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Washington Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diana (Heiny) Stafford; five children, Perry (wife, Christine) Stafford of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Bryan Stafford of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Kevin Stafford of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kimberly (husband, Robert) Hirsh of Houston, Texas, and Jennifer Stafford of Bloomington; two sisters, Betty (husband, Kenneth) McClellan of Washington, and Wilma Courtney of Newberry; five grandchildren Perry Stafford, Jr., Zachry Stafford, Ashley Stafford, Mason Stafford, and Emily Hirsh. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Dorothy Smith. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.

L. Grace Stout

L. Grace Stout, 89, Lapel passed away Saturday, December 20, 2003, at Windsor Estates in Kokomo following a brief illness.

She was born on October 24, 1914, in Hamilton County to Jefferson and Edith (Apgar) Huffman.

She was a 1932 graduate of Lapel High School and member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel.

She is survived by three children, Larry (wife, Dolly) Stout of Knightstown, Danny (wife, Sharon) Stout of Kokomo, and Rebecca Swinford of Lapel; a daughter-in-law, Doris Stout of Berne; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Joe Stout in 1969; one son, Rev. Jerry Stout in 2002; and brothers and sisters, Roger Huffman, Lee Huffman, Esta Reagan, Donald Huffman, and Jeannette Price.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

David Y. Taylor

David Y. Taylor, 66, Ellenton, Florida, formerly of New Castle passed away Tuesday March 4, 2003, at his son's home in Lebanon following an extended illness. He was born on October 23, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Herbert and Cordelia (Hobbs) Taylor. He retired in 1996 as an independent owner/operator trucker and had also owned and operated Dave's Welding Shop and Dave's Excavating in New Castle. He is survived by his wife, Patty (Pigg) Taylor; one son, David (wife, Estrella) Taylor, Jr. of Lebanon; three granddaughters, Lauren Taylor, Victoria Taylor, and Leah Taylor; four sisters, Clara (husband, Bill) Ford of Anderson, Dorthea (husband, Bill) Townsend of Woodstock, AL, MaryLou (husband, Bill) McMillan of Ellenton, FL, and Frieda Powell of Beckville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Herbert Taylor and a sister Phyllis Taylor Finch.Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Richard Cole officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel. Roberta J. Waugh

Roberta J. Waugh, 78, Fishers, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003, at Courtland Living and Rehabilitation Center in Surry, Maine.

She was born on June 19, 1925, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Layall and Julia (Ralya) Fisher.

She was President of the Noblesville Miniature Dream Builders Club and was a member of Questers.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (wife, Ruthi) Waugh of Surry, ME, and David (wife, Rhonda) Waugh of Springfield, IL; two grandchildren, Rev. Sonya Connelly of San Diego, CA whom she reared and Mark (wife, Mikki) Waugh of Elsworth, ME; three great-grandchildren, Abbagail Waugh, Alana Grant, and Mark Waugh, Jr.; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Waugh in 1998 and a daughter, Christine Connelly.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Bud Addison

Rupert A. "Bud" Addison, 81, Lapel, passed away Friday, October 29, 2004, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville following an extended illness.

He was born on July 5, 1923, in Ault, Colorado to Thurman and Mildred (Murray) Addison.

He retired in 1981 from Western Electric after 31 years of employment.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Lapel Optimist Club.

He is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Richwine of Noblesville, and Dorcas (husband, Enos) Mullet of Lapel; one sister-in-law, Thelma Addison of Chesterfield; one niece, Linda (husband, Lee) Klotz; four nephews, John (wife, Becky) Addison, Tony (wife, Karen) Mullet, George Richwine, and Greg Richwine; one great-nephew, Jeremiah Mullet (friend, Connie Hinshaw); and several friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Max J. Addison.

Private family graveside services will be held Monday at the Asbury cemetery in Morristown with the Rev. Evan Lash officiating.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
