Paul Hersberger

Paul Herbert Hersberger, 74, Noblesville, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

He was born on January 14, 1930, in Madison County, Indiana to Tilghman and Villie (Hinton) Hersberger.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and he retired in 1985 from Delco Remy after 30 years of employment. He continued to farm at Hersberger Farms.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Clarksville Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Temple Shrine and the Madison County Shrine Club.

He was an avid antique tractor collector

He is survived by wife, Phyllis (Hall) Hersberger; two children, Chris (husband, Keith) Lynch of Anderson, and Mori (Patty) Hersberger of Noblesville; three brothers, Jay Hersberger of Lake Placid, FL, Morris (wife, Jean) Hersberger of Lapel, and John (wife, Sue) Hersberger of Ridgeville; one sister, Martha (husband, Max) Lees of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Josh Lynch, Jordan Lynch, Meghan Hersberger, and Joel Hersberger; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Ralph C. Hobbs

Ralph C. Hobbs, 69, Lapel, passed away December 12, 2002, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a brief illness.

He was born on August 28, 1933, in Woodway, VA to Rando and Laura (Mullins) Hobbs.

He attended the Southern Heights Christian Church, Anderson and was a member of the N. R. A.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet (Miller) Hobbs; a son, Greg (wife, Ruby) Hobbs of Paoli; his mother, Laura Hobbs of Dryden, VA; 4 brothers, Bill (wife, Lavonne) Hobbs of Lapel, Virgil Hobbs of Lapel, Charles (wife, Janie) Hobbs of Dryden, VA, and Jerry (wife, Mary) Hobbs of Dryden, VA; one sister, Glenda Hobbs of Dryden, VA; an adopted grandson, Bryan Shultz of Dallas, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Also surviving are very close and personal friends including Paul and Pearl Best of St. Petersburg, PA.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Hobbs in 1977; his father; a brother, Gail Hobbs; and an infant sister, Lou Ann Hobbs.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with Rev. Ed Wilkinson of the Southern Heights Christian Church assisted by Dr. James Harless of the Tri-County Church in Middletown officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lapel Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.

The family wishes to thank all those who have been so kind to send cards, call and pray for Ralph during his illness.

Robert A. Layton

Robert A. Layton, 78, Noblesville, passed away Friday August 16, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on October 24, 1923 in Madison County, Indiana to Angus and Mildred (Boone) Layton.

He was a 1941 Lapel High School graduate and he retired in 1989 from Delco Remy where he had been a welder for 11 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel where he had sung in the choir for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Layton; a daughter, Deborah (husband, Jack) Davis of Noblesville; two sons, Gary (wife, Judy) Layton of Noblesville, and Tim (wife, Wendy) Layton of Noblesville; six grandchildren, Mandy Davis, Robbie Davis, Carol Layton, Audrey (husband, Vince) Shuff, Kevin Layton and Becca Layton; one great-grandson, Donovan Shuff; and a niece, Peggy Newlon of Greenwood.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel with Rev.s Evan Lash and Keith Davis officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery, Lapel.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Roger L. Pfister

Roger L. Pfister, 85, Lapel, formerly of Niles, Michigan, passed away Wednesday November 16, 2005, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born on February 26, 1920, in Niles, Michigan to Grant and Anna (Hoelster) Pfister.

He retired in 1982 from National Standard Wire Company in Niles, Michigan.

He was a lifelong member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Niles, Michigan. He was previously active in the Council on Aging in Cassopolis, Michigan and the Michiana Organ Club.

He is survived by three children, Ann (husband, Rob) Miller of Lapel, Roger Pfister of Niles, MI, and Terry (wife, Jennifer) Pfister of Niles, MI; and three grandsons, Michael Ryan Shull, Hayden Pfister, and Elliott Lee Pfister.

He was preceded in death in 2004 by his wife, Virginia Mae (Heister) Pfister.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Niles, Michigan with Pastor Barbara Wirt officiating.

There will be no visiting.

Dorotha H. Baker

Dorotha H. Baker, 84, Elwood, passed away Saturday September 21, 2002, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born on March 28, 1918, in Noblesville to Otto and Minnie (Carroll) McCarty. Mrs. Baker was a 1937 Walnut Grove High School graduate and she and her husband ran a TV repair shop in Elwood. She is survived by a daughter, Kay (husband, Larry) Stiles of Noblesville; five grandchildren, Mark Bryan, Lynnette Bryan, Kevin Stiles, Christine Stiles-Dunlap, and Jim Stiles; ten great grandchildren, Adam Bryan, Aaron Bryan, Rae-Ann Bryan, David Stiles, Chad Neff, Jordan Stevens, Ethan Dunlap, Carrie Stiles, Brian Oker, and Allie Oker; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Baker in 1986; her daughter Marcella McCune in 1998; and two sisters, Opal McCarty and Thelma Hawkins. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Bishop Byron Bullough officiating. Burial will be at the Carey cemetery, Noblesville. William W. Morin

William W. Morin, 84, Lapel, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following a brief illness.

He was born on January 8, 1921, in Carrolton, Kentucky to Ray and Lillie (Kelly) Morin.

He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He retired in 1984 from Reynolds Farm Equipment in Fishers and was then employed by the Lapel Post Office.

He was a member of the Zion Unto Christ Church in Markleville and the Anderson V. F. W. Post 266.

He is survived by wife, Junya (Adams Blake) Morin; two children, Judy Brantlinger, and Dennis (Laurie) Morin both of Lapel; four step sons, Doug Blake of Selma, Mike Blake of Pendleton, Steve Blake of Pendleton, and Joe Blake of Lafayette; two sisters, Rosella Giddings of Noblesville, and Velma Ghourley of Decatur, TN; one brother, Allen Morin of Middletown; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Esther; a brother; Robert Morin; three sisters, Alma Pyles, Hattie Calhoun, and Goldie Thompson; a grandson, Christopher Armendariz; and his son-in-law, Robert Brantlinger.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Emory Reece officiating. Military graveside rites and burial will be at the Cliff Hill cemetery in Versailles at 2:00 PM Wednesday.

Carolyn F. Castor

Carolyn F. Castor, 68, Lapel, passed away Thursday December 26, 2002, following an extended illness. She was born on December 27, 1933, in Noblesville to Russell and Vivian (Stoops) Males. She was a Lapel High School graduate and retired from Inland Fisher Guide in Anderson. She is survived by two children, Brian (wife, Millie) Maxwell of Noblesville and Kristi (husband, John) Owens of Pendleton; three grandchildren, Nathan Owens, Brandon Owens, and Julie Owens, four step-grandchildren, Butch Cain, Kristen Kendall, Kami Penwell, and Evan Castor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, George Camp; and a brother, Jim Males. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mary Louise Cecil

Mary Louise Cecil, 71, Lapel, passed away Sunday October 27, 2002, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson after a sudden illness. She was born on October 2, 1931, in Brockway, Pennsylvania to Ellis and Edith (Scott) Hormell. She retired in 1995 from Riverview Hospital in Noblesville after being employed for 40 years as a registered nurse. She was a member of Ford Street United Methodist Church in Lapel and the Indiana Nurses Association. She is survived by her husband, William P. Cecil; three sons, William E. (wife, Susan) Cecil of Lapel, Scott Cecil of Indianapolis, and Paul Cecil of Pendleton; one brother, William (wife, Linda) Hormell of Lapel; and a granddaughter, Bailee Cecil. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Norma M. Neese

Norma M. Neese, 83, Frankton, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2005, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born on July 6, 1922, in Anderson, Indiana to Robert and Fern (Wise) Busby.

She was a 1940 Lapel High School graduate.

She had been a member of the Perkinsville Community Church since she was 18.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Neese; three sons, Ron (wife, Georgia) Neese, Bob (wife, Laurie) Neese, and Bill (wife, Beth) Neese all of Frankton; eight grandchildren, Kim Speaker, Greta Forrer, Ronda Neese, Jill Neese, Tom Neese, Jonus Neese, Jackie Milam, and Anna Neese; five great-grandchildren, Cody Speaker, Will Speaker, Evan Speaker, Clay Forrer, and Grant Forrer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Neil Busby.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Perkinsville Community Church with Rev. Mark Aleshire officiating. Burial will be at the Neese cemetery in rural Frankton.

Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Mildred R. Edrington

Mildred R. Edrington, 87, Arcadia, passed away December 12, 2002, at Riverview Hospital of a sudden illness.She was born on December 16, 1914, in Madison county to Emerson and Hazle (Pike) Richards. She was a member of Prairie Baptist Church, Cairo Bridge Club and the former Lapel Order of Eastern Star Chapter 457.She is survived by four children, Sharon (husband, Larry) Polk of Brookville, Eloise (husband, Terry) Urban of Noblesville, Sam (wife, Rose Ann) Edrington of Noblesville and Nancy (husband, Ken) Wylie of Aurora; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Milton S. "Pat" Edrington and her parents. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Tom Greenslade of Prairie Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Gravel Lawn cemetery in Fortville. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Scott E. John Delbert "Deb" Hersberger

John Delbert "Deb" Hersberger, 82 Pendleton, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005, following an extended illness.

He was born on January 10, 1923, in Lapel, Indiana to John and Berniece (Williamson) Hersberger, II.

He was a 1940 Lapel High School graduate and was a member of that year's final four basketball team. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He retired in 1981 from Allison Division of General Motors as a production supervisor after 41 years of employment.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Lapel American Legion Post 212, the Lapel Masonic Lodge No. 625, the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, the Murat Temple Shrine and the Madison County Shrine Club.

He is survived by one brother, William Ronald Hersberger of Lapel; one sister, Leah (husband, Raymond) Renbarger of Anderson; a close friend, Eva Jean Clark of Fortville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Eleanor (McCombs) Hersberger; and a daughter, Debbie Sue Hersberger.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Anderson Memorial Park cemetery where the Lapel American Legion Post 212 will conduct military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Deanna K. Hersberger

Deanna K. Hersberger, 61, Anderson, passed away Friday December 6, 2002, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born on February 12, 1941, in Terre Haute to John and Mary (Merritt) Myers and grew up in Frankton. She was a member of the Pendleton Church of Christ and was a breast cancer survivor. She is survived by husband, James E. Hersberger; three children, Ronald (wife, Dede) Hersberger of Pendleton, Rene'e (husband, Tony) Ritchie of Anderson, and Rickie Joe (wife, Karen) Hersberger of Anderson; her mother, Mary Myers of Walterboro, SC; a brother, Ronald Myers of Walterboro, SC; a sister, Bobbie (husband, Roy) Bennett of Walterboro, SC; seven grandchildren, Stacy, Erica, Niki, Aaron, Kaylin (Tenille), Eli (John), and Audra; and six great-grandchildren, Ciara, Michael, Steven, Cody, Christian, and Mattison. She is also survived by many extended family members and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Myers in 1982.Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Emma G. Eiler

Emma G. Eiler, 97, Lapel, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Saint John's Health System in Anderson following a two month illness.

She was born on July 18, 1908, in Brewersville, Indiana to Wayne and Minnie (Marsh) Day.

She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church, The Lapel Golden Glows, and the Ford Street Nomads.

She is survived by four daughters, Barbara J. (husband, Arnold) Cross of Tampa, Laura Mae (husband, Bob) Harless of Markleville, Marjorie E. Turner of Greenfield, and Rebecca S. (husband, Terry) Hunter of Anderson; two sons, Stephen L. (wife, Ellen) Eiler of Viguita, NM, and Kenneth R. Eiler of Markleville; one sister, Alice Campbell of Cardington, OH; thirty-one grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Eiler; a son, Olan Jerry Eiler; a daughter, Donna Kay Eiler; three grandchildren, Darla Moon, Amy Hunter, and Terry Webb; one great-grandchild, Christipher Harless; four brothers; and four sisters.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel.

Robert L. Light

Robert L. Light, 83, Lapel, passed away Tuesday December 31, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on December 14, 1919, in Thebes, Illinois to Wilson and Eunice (Brown) Light.. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired in 1994 after owning and operating Light's Garage in Lapel for 28 years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church, a life member of Lapel American Legion Post 212 and a retired member of the Pipe Fitters Union. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Balser) Light ; one son, Robert (wife, Sue) Light, Jr. of Harvest, AL; a step-son, Curt (wife, Sheila) Balser of Lapel; two grandchildren, Robert C. (wife, Kimberly) Light and Laura Light; two step-grandchildren, Jacinda (husband, Jeff) McClintock and A. J. (wife, Amy) Balser; and three great-grandchildren, Tommy Brock, Ryan Brock, and Andrew Light. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at the Brookside cemetery in Lapel where the Lapel American Legion Post 212 will perform military graveside rites. Marilyn S. Lloyd

Marilyn S. Lloyd, 62, Lapel, passed away Wednesday September 4, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.She was born on December 6, 1939, in Anderson to Albert and Genevieve (Davis) Littiken. She was a 1957 Lapel High School graduate and retired from Wal-Mart in Noblesville.She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, the Excel Swim Group and had been a 4-H Leader for 8 years.She is survived by her husband, Philip Lloyd; three daughters, Debbie (husband, Bart) Irwin of Fortville, Carol (husband, Peter) Woodford of Northville, MI, and Sharon (husband, John) Fort of Anderson; her brother-in-law, Bill French of Lapel; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and sister, Jeanine French.Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Clive Hamlyn officiating. Arthur M. Lumpkin

Arthur M. Lumpkin, 59, Anderson, passed away Saturday November 9, 2002, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness. He was born on June 9, 1943, in Muncie to Robert and Ruthana (Hinshaw) Lumpkin. He was a graduate of Union High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. He farmed for many years. He was a member of Beall's Chapel United Methodist Church, and the Hoosier Antique Bicycle Club. He served as a director for Ag One Co-op and was a member of the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He is survived by his wife, Karen (Smith) Lumpkin of Anderson; two sons, Kenneth (wife, Jaetta) Lumpkin of Pendleton, and Niles Lumpkin of Anderson; one sister, Rachel (husband, Larry) Newton of Losantville; and a niece, Jodi Warmoth of Hagerstown. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Chris Lee officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Little Creek cemetery near Losantville at 3:00 PM Wednesday. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.
