Ferry "F.J." Collins
PLYMOUTH — Ferry “F.J.” Collins, 84, 873 Wilson Circle, Plymouth, died, following an extended
illness, at 7:47 a.m., on Thursday, June 7, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center,
Plymouth.
Ferry had lived in Plymouth, coming from Indianapolis, since 1982, and was also a longtime
resident of Muncie.
He was born on March 27, 1923, in Freetown, Ind., the son of Ivor I. and Fay Phillips Collins. He
graduated from Muncie Burris High School with the class of 1941.
A Master Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, F.J. served in the infantry
from 1943 to 1946 with Patton’s 3rd Army.
On June 15, 1974, F.J. and Carol “Sue” Irwin were married
in Muncie.
A District Plant Manager for Indiana Bell, Indianapolis, with 41 years of service, he retired in
1982 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
A dedicated outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Canada with family and
friends. He also engaged in those sports locally as well as gardening, playing golf and
woodworking projects.
He was admired by his family for his great work ethic, his energy and his drive.
Ferry is survived by his wife, Sue and by five children and five step-children.
His children are daughters: Alpha M. Collins and Melanie I. (Joe) Alexander and sons: Alan R.
(Becky) Collins, Chris L. (Sharon) Collins, all of Plymouth, and Ryan I. (Dianna) Collins of Culver.
Four stepsons are Ron E. Collins of Fort Lewis, Wash., Dean G. (Anita) Collins of Pittsboro, Ind.,
D. Shane (Chris) McClellan of Hurst, Texas, Jim P. (Lori) McClellan of Plymouth.
His stepdaughter is Theresa L. “Teri” McClellan of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Twenty-seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren — with a new arrival expected soon — also
survive together with three sisters. They are Carol Warner, Heartland, Mich., Kay (Robert) Butler
and Peggy Armstrong, both of Muncie.
Numerous nieces and nephews survive as well.
Ferry was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathleen Jeep.
Friends are invited to celebrate Ferry’s life and share memories with his family on Sunday, June
10, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m. and after 7 a.m. on Monday, June 11, at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2007, at the funeral home with his
nephew; Father Kevin Warner and son, Ron Collins, will officiate.
Military honors at the New Oakhill cemetery will be provided by Plymouth American Legion Post 27.

Ruth B. Joy
GREENVILLE, Ill. — Ruth B. Joy, 92, of Greenville, Ill., passed away at 4:50 a.m. on Thursday,
June 7 at Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Greenville, Ill. She was born Feb. 25, 1915 in Greenville, Ill.
to Emil J. and Alice D. (Cordonnier) Breitenbach. On July 5, 1941 in Greenville, Ill., she married
Frank R. Joy Sr. He died Oct. 17, 2001.
Mrs. Joy was a 1933 graduate of Greenville High School and graduated from Greenville College
in 1938. In her younger years, she assisted in the family restaurant business and after
graduation from college she taught in elementary school in Winchester, Ill. For three years
before returning to Greenville where she substituted for many years in the elementary school.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville where she was active for
many years as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and elder, deacon and president of the
missionary society. She was one of the founding officers of the Greenville Regional Hospital
Christmas Bazaar. She was an active member for the Red Cross and a member of the
Shakespeare’s Club.
She is survived by daughters: Emily (Leo) Watson of Kokomo and Mrs. Anne Rimer of Santa
Monica, Calif.; son, Frank (Nancy) Joy Jr. of Greenville, Ill.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters: Cornelia Neeley and Elva McIntyre; and
a brother, Eldon Brietenbach.
Visitation was Monday, June 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home, 118 E. College
Ave., Greenville, Ill.
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Greenville First Presbyterian Church with
Rev. Ken Bryant officiating.
Burial was at Montrose Abbey, Greenville, Ill.

Evadene D. Richhart
BREMEN - Evadene D. Richhart, 82, of Bremen, died at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, June 8 at home.
She is survived by her husband, Everett J. Richhart; son, Delane (Cherie) Richhart of Lakeville;
daughter, Dorene (Michael) Muszer of South Bend; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
and a brother, Bernard (Ruth) Schrome of LaPaz.
A private family service was held at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, June 12.
Burial was at the Bremen cemetery.

Deenene Flickinger
NAPPANEE — Deenene Flickinger, 42, of Nappanee, died at 11:58 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at
Elkhart General Hospital from injuries suffered in a car/motorcycle accident.
She is survived by a son, Carl Flickinger Jr. of Milford; daughter, April Flickinger of St. Louis,
Mo.; parents, Don and Meme Stephens of Mishawaka; one granddaughter; grandfather, Dennis
Wilhelm of Decatur, Ill.; sister, Marie Waska of Alaska; and companion, Kim Nine of Nappanee.
Visitation is Friday, June 15 from 2 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to services Saturday at the
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
