Alice R. Schumann
SOUTH BEND — Alice R. Schumann, 76, of South Bend, died on Monday, May 28 at Southfield
Village, South Bend.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Schumann of South Bend; daughter, Patricia (James)
Horvath of Mishawaka; sons: Roger P. (Elaine) Schumann of Crossville, Tenn., Phillip J.
(Deborah) Schumann of Lakeville and Steven J. Schumann of South Bend; eight grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; and brother, John Botset of Plymouth.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday at
the Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, South Bend.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 31 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Betty Heiser
PLYMOUTH — Betty J. Heiser, age 86, of 221 Pierce Street, Plymouth, passed away at 12:08
p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at her home.
Betty was born on Aug. 25, 1920, in Plymouth, to Daniel and Cora (Burton) Beagles. She
married
Richard F. Heiser on June 17, 1940. He preceded Betty in death on Sept. 22, 1982.
Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth and the Order of Eastern Star
Chapter #26.
Betty is survived by her brother, Dr. Raymond and Kay Beagles of Kentucky; her sister, Bernetha
Payne of Plymouth; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her sisters, Helen Koontz and Cecile Bryan; and her
brother, Daniel Beagles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral
Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Liechty officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery.
A time of visiting and sharing memories of Betty with her family will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Delos "Don" Oliver, Sr Niles
KOONTZ LAKE — Delos “Don” Oliver Niles Sr., 74, of Koontz Lake, died on Tuesday, May 29 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Theresa Allen of Rutland, Vt., Delos Jr. “Skip” (Lauri)
Niles of Lake City, Fla., Patti (Bill) Ren of Almagordo, N.M., Shawn (Kim) Niles of Grovertown,
Michael (Dottie) Niles of Argos, Don (Lynette) Niles of Koontz Lake and Dwight (Chrissy) Niles of
Walkerton; brothers: Winston (Louise) Niles of Smithville, Texas, Colby (Joan) Niles of
Grovertown and Earl Niles of Hinsdale, N.H.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Friday, June 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, June 2 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Rannells
Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, where a rosary service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church of Walkerton.
Burial will be in Grovertown cemetery.
Mary Ellen Roush
PLYMOUTH — Mary Ellen Roush, 83, of 635 Oak Hill Avenue, Plymouth, passed away at 5:30
p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth.
Mary Ellen was born on June 28, 1923 in Plymouth to Clarence and Carrie (Triplet) Myers. She
married
Charles (Leo) Roush, on November 19, 1948 in Plymouth. Leo passed away on Aug.
28, 2004. They had lived in the Plymouth area since the time of their marriage. Together they
raised their five children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a mother.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters, Dorothy and Bob Majires of Streamwood, Ill. and Diana
and Van Price of Plymouth; her sons, David and his companion Debbie of Plymouth, Steve and
Laurel Roush of Culver, and Michael and Theresa Roush of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rita and Roland Stellhorn of Columbia City, Helen and Dale
Pritsch of Plymouth, and Dorothy Norris of Plymouth. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her
husband, Charles, and her brother, William Myers.
Funeral services for Mary Ellen, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007 at the VAN
GILDER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Rustin Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill
cemetery.
A time of visiting and sharing memories of Mary Ellen, with her family, will be on Sunday, June 3,
2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street,
Plymouth, IN 46563.
Memorial contributions may be given in Mary Ellen's name to Sunrise Chapel, 11802 Lincoln
Highway, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
Charles N. Nigro
ROCHESTER — Charles N. Nigro, 89, of Rochester, died at 1:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 at
Hickory Creek of Rochester.
He is survived by a daughter, Ann Kay O’Brien of Glen Allen, Va.; son, Charles Kent Nigro of
Mechanicsville, Va.; and sister-in-law, Imogene Leedy.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Richland Center cemetery.
The Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements.
Edith May Foust
Edith May Foust, 91 of Scottsdale, Ariz. passed away June 3, 2007 at her home. Born in
Wellston, Mich. to Clifford and Ollie (Stump) Stoops, Edith grew up during Depression years in
the Walkerton, LaPaz and Plymouth area, graduating from West High School. She married
Russell Foust in 1936. Russell was a linotype operator for The Plymouth Pilot News. The couple
also resided in Paris, Ill. and eventually in Scottsdale, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her
husband, parents, and sister, Ruth Troyer.
She is survived by a daughter, Dee (Robert) McSherry and two grandsons: Eric and Bryce
McSherry of Mesa, Ariz. Also surviving are nieces, Janet (John) Posey, Laguna Woods, Calif.
And Linda (Glenn) Starr, Plymouth; nephews, Mark (Becky) Troyer, LaPorte and Kevin
(Suzanne) Troyer, Plymouth; cousins Garnette Holmes, Calif., Lyla Whetstone, Michigan City
and Joan (Robert) Osborne, Michigan City.
Private services will be held.
The family was assisted by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.
